My husband and I just stayed at the Monna Lisa with 3 other couples after spending a week biking through the hills of Umbria...it was a lovely oasis in the heart of Florence. I felt as though I was staying at someone's villa...the public areas are tasteful and the rooms are charming, The garden is a perfect spot to enjoy before or after dinner drinks, read a book or enjoy the peace and quiet. The breakfast was very good, with nice variety in yet again another lovely room. The ONLY downside is that some of the front desk staff are down right rude. We nicknamed one Attila the Hun as we were quite put off by her in regard to any need we might have. Otherwise, no complaints....lovely restaurant down the street called La Giostra...a must...also a great ceramic store on the way to the Duomo called Sbigoli Terrecotte. Many things made there and they ship. Enjoy Florence...it is a wonderful walking city with many things to see and do.
