The location is great, really in the heart of Florence. The staff was very helpful and the rooms were quiet, comfortable, and clean. The breakfast was quite extensive with more than enough quality choices for everyone to fill up on for a long day of touring - and the staff was downright eager to please the person with celiac disease in our party who needs gluten-free food. The layout of the hotel is a bit quirky (it is probably and old palazzo), but that is really part of the charm of the place.

Dear Guests,
we are so happy that you fully enjoyed your stay with us.
The location keeps being mentioned as unbeatable as you can easily reach every important place of interest simply walking. Our full buffet breakfast offers a wide variety of high quality products and on request, we also offer a good selection of food for celiac clients. You are right, the hotel was built in actually not only 1 old palazzo (15th century) but joining 3 together, and this is what makes it peculiar and gives it a particular charm.

We hope to welcome you again soon.

Kind regards.

We booked this Florence visit via BA holidays and chose the Hotel Berchielli as it seemed to be close to all the places of interest. We were not disappointed. Although the BA deal was a standard room the Hotel gave us a room on the 3rd floor overlooking the river with fantastic views of the Ponte Vecchio. The room was a good size with a large bed and plenty of storage space. It was very warm during our stay but the air conditioning was efficient enough to keep us comfortable at night and was not noisy. Being close to the river mosquitoes are prevalent therefore I recommend keeping the window shut at night. There is a busy road outside the hotel but this did not impact on us especially with the window shut and is nothing to get concerned about, in fact it adds to the experience. We had a B and B arrangement and found the breakfast to be ample for our needs. Some hot food is available I.e. Scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages but I imagine you could have eggs done differently if you ask. My only criticism is that the hot food was only warm bordering on cold at times. Plenty of cold options and cereals are available. Staff are friendly and helpful and special mention must go to the reception staff who are some of the most helpful people I have encountered at hotels, a big thank you to them for helping with transport timetables, taxis, phone calls to check arrangements and advice on travel all of which are essential in a strange city. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel their prices are very reasonable considering the location and the views. An hotel on the opposite bank charges up to £2000 per night for some of their rooms according to their web site. We will certainly use this hotel again when visiting Florence.

Room Tip: Contact the hotel direct to discuss rooms as a room overlooking the river is desire able. I imagine...

Dear Guests,
thank you for your long review.
We are happy that your experience with us was thoroughly enjoyable. As mentioned in previous replies we are able to upgrade only occasionally as river view rooms are deluxe category and more and more clients specifically book these kind of rooms paying the correspondent higher rate. Your suggestion about keeping the window closed during the night is precious as this will keep room quiet, cool and will also avoid the occasional problem of mosquitos. It is a relief to read that the staff has been friendly and helpful as usual.
We have tried during the years to keep a correct balance price/quality and if you are lucky enough to get an upgrade, when booking situation occasionally allows, this of course makes it very convenient.
Hoping to welcome you soon.
Kind regards.

When I pay premium rates, I anticipate getting a premium experience which unfortunately didn't happen at Berchielli. It really is in an awesome location and a wonderful property including the terrace that we used multiple times. However, we got quite a bit of (bad) attitude from a couple of the staff, actually the poorest service quality of the 6 establishments we used throughout our 3 week Italy trip.

Dear Guests,
our staff has been receiving so many wonderful reviews that we got almost shocked by reading that our service was suddenly so bad. We are very sorry that the service did not correspond to the expected quality. To be able to understand which persons of our staff had such an attitude we wrote you a direct e-mail for which we are hoping to get a reply in order to correct this change of behavior.
We are pleased that the location and the property contributed to make part of your stay enjoyable.
Kind regards.

We've just returned from three nights B&B here. It is a lovely hotel in an excellent central location. The service was good and the breakfast excellent. We had an issue with the bedroom, as it looked out on to some scaffolding on the very close building next door. However, the hotel changed this for us. The only adverse comment I would make is that it can be noisy with automatically shutting (slamming) bedroom doors and fire doors on springs, such that we were somewhat disturbed late at night and early morning. Having said that we are light sleepers so may be making too much of this and we find hotels can often be noisy. In deciding on a room to move to we considered one on the first floor overlooking the river but this was certainly noisy with traffic immediatley below and we rejected it (it was also a premium of Euro 60 per night).
If we were to return to Florence we would probably look to stay here again but would be careful to insist on a quiet room.

Room Tip: See above comments.

Dear Guests,
thank you for the time taken to write your review.
We are pleased that you appreciated our location, service and breakfast. The hotel fully complies with fire safety regulations and this implies some doors to be self closing. Our maintenance staff continuously keeps self closing system monitored in order to make sure it works properly and also acts smoothly. Following your comment we will make extra controls. River view rooms, being double glazed are not noisy, but not as quiet as some on other parts of the building. We take the chance to suggest all future clients to request quiet rooms if they are light sleepers like you.

Kind regards.

This hotel is very charming and true to florence style in terms of decor and furnishings. Our first room was on the small side with a few of the AC box on the roof, but we asked to change and got a. Very nice room on the second night. The Berchielli is in a good location and we were able to walk to most places.

Dear Guests,
thank you for your review.
As nearly all rooms have been refurbished we are very pleased that you found them to be charming with a true Florence character. Our hotel offers rooms on each of the 4 sides of the building and views are almost all different. If booking situation allows, we try to please each special room request. If you like to walk, in 10/15 minutes you can easily reach most of the attractions of Florence.
Kind regards.

Arriving late and completely shattered (no thanks to BA) the front of house staff couldn't do enough to make us welcome, booking in was easy and out bags whipped away to our room.
Asking for a quiet restaurant nearby that did small meals we were directed to the
'mangiafoco' wine bar and café only 50 yards from the hotel where we had a very good meal
and wine. We asked the concierge Massimiliano if he could arrange tickets for the Palatine
gallery for the next day. By the time we returned to the hotel a few hours later all had been
arranged at the time we wanted. Breakfast was very good with a wide variety of hot and cold
food in a lovely room with plenty of room between tables. The small bar in the lounge
was snug and the barman very helpful in recommending the local wines to taste. Nearly
forgot the room which was on the 5th floor overlooking the river Arno with some wonderful
sunsets. Maid service was excellent it was like going into a new room each day.
Staff on the front desk were more that helpful with any requests we made and were bright
and cheerful. I would Recommend this hotel to anyone and its worth upgrading to a
river front room, go for a higher room its a bit quieter there or just close the window.

Room Tip: River side for views and the higher the quieter

Dear Guests,
thank you for sharing your experience online.
Check in is one of the most important moment as clients arrive at the hotel with an enormous variety of feelings about their journey; we are pleased that our staff made you feel welcome and offered a fast and smooth checkin.
During the years many restaurants have been selected and continuously monitored with clients comments in order to offer our guests the right choice. I have already mentioned to Massimiliano that you appreciated his job. The architect did a good job in planning the breakfast room as it has been dimensioned correctly allowing to comfortably sit and move. The professionalism of our barman allows to really take care of all guests. As mentioned in other reviews cleanliness is monitored almost “maniacally “ to achieve the highest possible standard.

Kind regards.

The location of this hotel is great. You are in walking distance to all major sights, you are also close to train station it is just a quick walk my only suggestion if you are walking from train station to hotel with your luggage keep in mind that sidewalks are crowded and streets are cobblestone which makes rolling suitcases very difficult! The hotel was very clean we had a triple room which was huge we had basically two rooms with two bathrooms. Don't miss the free breakfast it was fantastic! The staff were friendly and helpful. I would stay here again!

Dear Guests,
thank you for posting your review after few months of your stay.
Many clients mention our location as very convenient to reach all major sites of Florence including the main train station S.M.N. which is few minutes walk. Some streets in the center of Florence, to keep the original character, have been made using bevelled stones of black basalt ("sampietrini"), placed one next to the other. This gives a particular and attractive look to the streets but obliges to walk a little slower if carrying a suitcase. Cleanliness is one of our most important targets and feedback are precious to keep monitoring our efforts. Your room is what we call suite, composed of: main entrance, 1 double room, 1 single room, 2 bathrooms and, although more expensive than triple rooms, are more comfortable. Full buffet breakfast is offered from 7 am to 11 am. It is nice to know that the behavior of our staff keeps being friendly and helpful.

We hope to welcome you again soon.

Kind regards.
