“Complete shambles”
Reviewed 2 July 2013

We booked this hotel via Booking.com a few months ago and we should have stayed there a couple of nights ago.

We were on a trip around Europe from Australia and were driving a hire car around Italy. On our approach to the hotel, the road was blocked due to a festival or parade, so I called the hotel.

I was originally given some alternate directions, then he said, no wait, I have to close tomorrow so I have transferred you to another hotel, the Arizona Hotel 500 metres away. I have to ask, at what point was I going to be told this?!?

The subsequent 'stay' at the Arizona Hotel was a shambles, see my other review.

I am not able to actually review this hotel because we never actually got to stay there, but I would warn all future guests to be wary of this because the Arizone told us that 'this happens all the time when we are overbooked'. How can we be overbooked when we had a confirmed booking.

We will never be back to either of these hotels!

The advantage of this lovely little hotel is its nice location near the Piaza & Chiesa Santa Croce. Also very good is Elton, the owner-cum-man-for-all- seasons who personally runs this place with his dear wife. Friendly, helpful, good guidance and always "there" - a natty little hotel. Celebrities like Sophia Loren and a host of Italian celebrities have supposedly stayed here, in what is a semi-budget hotel of good standards. The breakfast served is good and wholesome and the rooms are middling-good in size and OK in facilities. Cleanliness is very good.

I stayed here in June and found the hotel to be very comfortable and conviently located. We were greeted by the owners, a lovely couple, and their young son. The room we stayed in, one with a small kitchen, was large enough with mostly modern furnishings. The kitchen was dated and needed updating tho.

The room was advertised as having a safe but didn't. But all of our things were very safe in the room. The hotel is also within 5-15 minutes walk of all of the attractions. The breakfast was delicious and we were served fresh coffee of our choice each morning.

I was led to believe from the reviews that this hotel would be pleasant and easy going yet when i wanted to bring a friend or 2 to my hotel room, the guest was asked to leave their i-d at the reception. i found that rather backward and unnecessary. its 2013 and its europe!! my room was 101b, and it had NO view at all. ALSO, in the mornings, it was very noisey as the breakfast and reception was under floor 1 . i was often being woken up by clattering of dishes, people talking loudly (esp italian staff) . there was no room service or option to get food. the price i paid was 470 euros for 5 nights inc taxes. the location was very good : 1 min to piazza della santa croce.

Room Tip: dont stay on first floor. too noisey!!

Stayed at this hotel for one night and it was everything we wanted. Dropped of our bags earlier in the day as our train came in early. Went back to check in after luncha nd they had delivered our bags to our room. Room was spacious had a kitchenette and we could see the top of the Santa Croce church. Quiet hotel with friendly staff and a 5-10 minute walk to all the sites of Florence. Great restaurant around the corner called baldovino. Breakfast was average European continental with freshly made coffee on request.

I have been staying in Florence end of April 2013. I had booked a bedroom in Hotel Dante for single use. The hotel is situated very near to the city center. The room I had was a very nice room. It was situated on the quiet site of the building. The bed was large. The room was clean, and furnished with a desk, chair, two cupboards, a television (only Italian choises) and a nice small bathroom with showercabine, bidet, toilet and every day clean towels
the owner is a very pleasant and helpfull person. His wife, who takes care of breakfast is a very charming young lady and also very helpfull.
They had good tips for me and were helpfull with reservation for a ticket at the Ufizi museum.

Room Tip: my room was 201B, quiet room at the backside of the hotel. no rumour from the streets. I slept very...

We stayed there for one night. It's place is good, just 2 minutes from the famous Santa Croce, we could actually see the church from our room. The staff is helpful, and they allowed us to leave our luggage at the hotel after we checked out on Sunday morning, so we could continue our tour across the city till our train time in the evening.

The only negative side is that the heating system in the room was not keeping it warm enough. Though we made it at highest possible, we were still feeling a little bit cold. Maybe it's because the room is spacious, with a high ceiling. But I would say the hotel management should consider improving the room heaters :)

If we went to Florence again, we would consider staying there too :)
