Charming hotel with excellent customer service, nice balcony overlooking the garden, excellent location across the river. Cloth napkins at complimentary breakfast was a nice touch, front desk staff warm and welcoming. Would highly recommend.

We stayed at this excellent hotel for one night on route to our stay in the Tuscan countryside. The hotel although a little faded is very grand and the staff went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Our room was large and airy and very comfortable with excellent views of the river. Parking in the hotels secure lot was included in the rate with plenty of room for our quite large car. The hotel was well located close to the cities main tourist attractions which was perfect for such a short stay. Breakfast was tasty with a reasonabl selection available.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view.

Hotel preserved history and royal fill very well. You can relive the old time Florence charm in this hotel. Staff is very professional and very helpful. Breakfast was delightful and serviced by two very classy servers. rooms was always very clean. Location is very good far enough to avoid all the noise and close enough to walk to all the attraction. I have to add that hotel have a free parking on site (very rare in Florence).

Room Tip: We had a Junior Suite with river view

A very nice hotel right along the river bank, which provides amazing views. Within walking distance to all the major sites (though not right in the middle of the all the tourist sites, which I appreciated because it kept the noise level down). The complimentary breakfast was good, the front desk staff was very nice and our room was large with a great balcony.

My only words of advice are: 1) bring a small travel fan if you're visiting in warmer months, as this hotel (like all of Europe) isn't a big believer in good air conditioning, and 2) careful in the shower -- it has a thick tile base around it and is elevated, to boot, so it's tricky getting safely in and out. I can see where it would be downright dangerous for seniors or those with mobility problems.

Room Tip: Be sure to request a room with a balcony overlooking the river -- you will spend your nights there!

Hotel Principe is a petite villa right on the Arno river, but at the end of a wide boulevard that has restrictions beyond it, so while there is traffic, it's limited and very quiet. The location gives easy access to all parts of the city. We paid for a higher level room and had a lovely outlook on the river with a balcony. The rooms are very clean and have comfortable beds and good linen. Hotel staff were responsive and helpful. A happy surprise when we came back from a long day of walking and touring was complimentary prosecco or white wine and appetizers, which we took out to enjoy in the hotel garden. The breakfast was very comprehensive and included espresso drinks made fresh per customer request. This is not a luxe hotel like the Westin or St. Regis (both a block away), but a gracious and perhaps more affordable alternative.

Room Tip: Check out the price for Arno view upper floor rooms - it may not be much more than a standard ('...

I selected this hotel because they offered parking on site and were very close to the center. What a gem. I would definitely stay in the hotel again. The front desk staff could not be more helpful. Would suggest you ask for a room with a river view - however the garden view rooms look down on a lovely and peaceful setting.
Easy access to the outskirts of Florence, particularly if you have a car but also on the bus.

Great location within walking distant of restaurants, shopping, and the major sights, but far enough away from the really busy tourist areas when you need a break. Easy to find when you're walking because it's right along the river. Room was clean and decorated with antiques. The whole place felt elegant and special, not like a typical hotel. Medium sized bathroom (with bathtub!), but not much counter space. The only downside of the room was sometimes having to wait for the hot water in the shower. Lots of choices at breakfast - fruit salad was delicious! The front desk and wait staff were very friendly and helpful with directions, etc.
