The positives: being close to the main station, right at the edge of the historic center and near the central market, this hotel puts you in the thick of it right from the start. You won't be bored - just annoyed. By noise, for instance, which you will have around the clock if you don't get a room that doesn't face one of the three (!) surrounding streets. By the various fittings - shower, windows, electrics - that are more show than substance and are starting to fail rather early in their lives.
The staff are mostly nice and helpful but there are too few of them at the breakfast, for instance, as compared to the front desk. The four-star rating must be induced by the rather splendid and showy hall, once you get past that it looks like the rating isn't appropriate.
Getting there by car can be a harrowing experience depending on how many people want to get to the station at the same time, traffic management in this area of Florence has apparenty been inspired by Dante's inferno. Once you're there some people from a nearby garage will take care of your car, they are to parking what Ayrton Senna was to driving fast in the rain, don't try to look where your car is if you are faint-hearted.

Room Tip: There should be rooms around the two inner courtyards. Grab them if they're available and you mi...

Bedroom in the dark when you are coming for the first time.
Bedroom not clean and ventilation making horrible noise.
Breakfast really basic.
For the price, could be really better. Doesn't deserve 4 stars but 2 or 3 max.

I was visiting in Bologna and decided to take a day trip to Firenze (so easy, 35 minutes by train).
A friend emailed his friend at Hotel Atlantic Palace and I was set.

I was greeted warmly by Francesco and David upon arrival. Those first few moments can make you feel so good and start everything off right. The hotel location is convenient to the train station and all those wonderful sights you must see (patience with the crowds). The street was a bit busy, but you would never know it inside the hotel. Quiet and calm. My room was generous in size. The best hotel bathroom I have seen in a while, Wonderful firm beds (I have been "airbnb ing" for quite a few weeks ... this room was a real treat). Closet space, a very classy writing desk, good climate control. At first the internet seemed slow, but I just moved to a second desk in the room and all was fine.

A fine hotel like this is just such good comfort after the demanding work of touring Italy (I know, life is tough). Thanks again to Francesco and David for making me feel so welcome.

Room Tip: My room (181) was quiet and quite large.

On a recent 6 day trip to Florence my husband and I stayed at the Atlantic Palace hotel. We chose this hotel based on reviews and it's proximity to both train and bus station as we were using Florence as our home base for the 6 days we were in Tuscany. Our room was very clean, comfortable and quiet even though it was located on the street side of the hotel. The front desk staff was very friendly, helpful, accommodating and went out of their way to make our stay in Florence memorable. On a return trip to Florence we will most definitely stay at the Atlantic Palace.

Read some of the reviews before we booked,so asked for higher floor to escape the busy street below, what a view looking over the city with all the hustle and bustle below, just how we imagined it would be,the hotel situated at the end of leather market, has the great feel of a lively city florence is.
We would like to thank Francesco for making our holiday so wonderful, infact all the staff from the bell boy to the breakfast staff to the very, very helpfull reception staff.
This is a good choice.

Room Tip: If like quietness, ask for the top floor

Mixed feelings, located near the train station it is quite difficult to find the way in, and the parking price is more than a 30e a day... The reception room is nice and the service is very helpful. However the rooms have nothing special, large but would need some refurbishment. Breakfast is really weak, quite a shame for Tuscany.
