Reviewed 12 March 2013

My husband and me have just returned from our trip to Florence. We stayed at Fiorita Hotel. Our choise of this hotel was based on good reviews in TripAdvisor and Booking. com. And we made a right choice. May be our comments would be useful for other travellers.
Location - very convenient for travellers, since it is near Santa Maria Novella Station and not far from main tourist attractions - Duomo, Medici Chapels, the charming Santa Maria Novella church, etc. Though the hotel is near the station, it is located in a quet street. (I was astonished to read in one of the reviews that the area is dangerous at night It is not soi, actually the area is safe and quiet at any time). Proximity to the railway station and the bus station is very convinient for trips to other Tuscany towns (we visited Siena and Pisa)
Rooms - we lived in a Standard Double room (we booked an Economy Double, but were accommodated in a Standard Double without any additional charge). The room is big and comfortable with a very high ceiling and renovated bathroom.
Cleanness - impeccable. The room was cleaned every day, and towels also were changed every day.
Breakfast – plentiful and tasty. Actually it is not a continental breakfast but buffet with a good choice. Every morning you can have hot omelette and sausage, cheese, yoghurts, pastries, croissants, cakes, fruit (even pine-apple), cereals, different sorts of tea (black, green, herbal) and coffee (espresso, cappuccino, latte, etc.).
Moreover, there is a kitchen where the guests can have tea, coffee and snacks 24 hours a day.
Reception desk – all gentlemen at the reception desks are friendly and helpful. We could get any help and consultation we needed.

Summary – it is amazingly good hotel for very reasonable money. We thankd all the staff for their efficient work.

Dear Olga M,
good reviews are the results of hard work to improve services at all level of the Hotel,: cleanliness of rooms, amenities, courtesy and professionalism of the staff, and a personal human touch which generally "makes the difference".... let me tell you that i read with so much satisfaction your review, because it simply focuses in a very simple way and without any emphasis all of our efforts to match client's satisfaction.
We are as well sometimes astonished to hear about "dangerous area" (as you mention the area of the Hotel is quiet and safe and quiet at any time) or "poor breakfast" (our hot and cold buffet breakfast has more than 20 top quality products, including scramble eggs / omelette, boiled eggs, and real "hand made" Italian Cappuccino).
Amazing Hotel and "all gentlemen" at the reception is the best we can hear after a client stay, we are sure this review will explain much to all people looking for an accomodation in Florence !

Thank you and see you again at the "Fiorita" !

We stayed in the hotel in December. Location wise this hotel scores high point as it is within walking distance from the main train station. Other than that there is nothing worth talking about this hotel. The one thing I was so Dissapointed was the room was leaking and the mattress in the ro was drenched. We came back in the evening fr our outing and after settling down we were about to sleep when we got all wet by the drenched bed. We feedback to the front desk and they changed the room for us. However, the next day I saw another couple standing outside the room in their pyjamas waiting to change the room. Which means that they gave the room to another guest even after they know the leaking problem. I find that dishonest. Breakfast was not too bad but you must be early because they do
not refil even at 9 am. Also, one of the days the scrambled egg was burnt! No quality! I will not go back there for sure.

Dear Guest,

As explained to you, a break in the airconditiong spoil system provoke the problem you have suffered from. Just to clarify the matter: there were only a few waterdrops . We are not looking for excuses, just saying that some facts are beyond human possibilities to prevent. The following morning we realized what happened and we moved you into another room; so sincerly we do not understand why you present us as " not honest " There were no guests standing with pijamas claiming for the same problem the next day !
Regarding breakfast we offer daily:
fresh croissants
fresh bread
butter/biscuits/various jam
cheese 3 types
salame/mortadella
ham
bolied eggs
scrambled eggs
sausages
fresh fruits
yogurt
fresh milk
all kind of hot drinks
2 kind of juice
3 types of cereals

constantly refilled

all served in a beautiful terrace overlooking the city.

Consider we are a 2 stars hotel we think we should have received a better consideration.

Regards

As is written in the plate at the main entrance of the building, this is not a hotel, but a pension. This fact is bringing the inadequacy to the facility itself and to the room amenities. Room is small with a furnishing in minimalist style and never let you feel spaciousness while you are inside the room. I don't agree with the people saying "...since you are in Florence, all you need is a place to sleep only." After a long day tour in the city and the museums, I prefer to take a little rest in my room around 1-2 hours before dinner. If you are also in this category, then you should avoid to stay in this place. All you can do is having a shower in your tiny bathroom and sit on the so called "double" but in fact a "pulled together two singles" bed. You can easily feel the junction of two singles while trying to sleep in your uncomfortable bed. No soundproofing in the doors so you can hear all the action happening out of your room. Breakfast place is not a room but a corridor at the top of the building and maybe found interesting if you are an architect and your area of interest is designing roofs, because that's all you can see during your breakfast. When you search a hotel in Florence and sort the alternatives by price, you can easily feel happy to find a hotel like Fiorita with good reviews and cheap price. But I think they have found a little tricky way to get this result by charging the internet additionally. If you want to use internet at Fiorita, you should pay an additional 10 EURO per day which means if there is another hotel in your search having good reviews and including free internet but 10 EURO expensive than Fiorita, don't skip it and take into consideration. All of the foregoing was for the bad things and ofcourse there are good things as well. 1. Location, 2. Cleanliness, 3. Kind and helpful front desk, 4. Not great but enough breakfast.

There is no difference between Pensione or Hotel: both words have the same meaning. At the beginning of last century Pensione meant a place where, beyond sleeping, you could have also lunch or dinner( from this word come " pensione completa , full pension or mezza pensione, half pension ). Nowadays we offer only breakfast.
There are no negative aspects in sleeping in a Pensione; Pensione is not the gate for Hell and Hotel is not the gate for Heaven: what really define the quality and service of Hotel, Pensione, Guest House etc are stars: from 1 to 5 stars. Each star correspond a kind of service offered.
In this area you should judge a hotel : not beacuse of its name.
At your check-out you warmly recognised our staff did a good job for you booking the restaurant, booking the Uffizi at a discounted rate, allowing you to print all kind of tickets and generally for all service offered during your stay.
Your room measured 18sm x3m high
: you define it small.
Your room was completely renovated with new furniture( of course old style as the building is )LCDtv,safe, minibar, renovated beds and a renovated bath: you define it unconfortable.
Since the first moment you booked this hotel you were aware of the fact the Internet had a cost
You reported it as someone push you up to buy this service.
Our breakfast is served on a terrace overlooking the city: only a few hotels, highly rated, can offer this possibility; you define it corridor on the top of the building.
Good reviews are only the results of free opinions and experiences of guests stayed in our hotels: you define them "tricky".
Nothing more to add.

This was a wonderful place to stay with elegant rooms from yesteryear. Very pretty, high ceilings, double doors, all of the special touches of times gone by but oh so nice to visit. In spite of getting a smelly bed spread which we turned into housekeeping, the room was clean overall and so convenient. Just a short walk from the train station with luggage in tow. The breakfast was a wonderful buffet and you can get all the coffee you want rather than just one small cup. They even have coffee Americano for all the Americans missing it. Not only do they make coffee and orange juice available at breakfast, it is in a special room you can use all day and they also have some sweets and other pastry items in that room for free. We stayed four nights and I never figured out why we paid 39 euros for two nights and 75 euros for two nights but the overall cost was a good value. I would return to this hotel. The English is very fluent. The hotel is actually three floors up off of the ground floor. They have a charming old time elevator to take you up and down easily. Loved it and loved Florence, even in the rain and cloudy weather of January (no crowds, no lines January).

Room Tip: One review said the rooms were small but ours was litterally huge. I only saw our room and it was c...

Nice little hotel in a very convenient location. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful (Their English was 10 times better than those at bigger and nicer hotels in Rome). The rooms were a little small.

Dear Quang D.,

we have received your feedback with enormous pleasure mainly because it focuses a point not too much considered but vital in our opinion: the possibility for guests to express their desires in their own mother tongue; at least English, French, Spanish and in part German.
As you clarified you have been in many other hotels of superior category without receiving satisfaction. We are only a 2 stars but we can offer this kind of service.
Our next step to improve our communication with our guests will be the Portuguese, Russian and Chinese.
A little consideration regarding your note of having had a small room; pls note that according to your reservation you have booked an economy room which was clearly mentioned that is a small room: next time try the Classic one.

Many many thanks and hope to see you soon at the Fiorita Hotel

Ciao

The hotel is 2 minutes from the trainstation but it is extremely quite and convenient.
The rooms are not perfect (it is an old building and the rooms could need a paintjob and new fernitures but they are clean and warm.
All of its disadvantages are squared from the perfect service the staff provide!
The breakfast area and the breakfast it self was amazing, plus there was an 24/7 coffee machine for free coffee all day and night long.

Dear Guest,
"amazing Hotel" , "great service", "really good breakfast" and "high quality service", is the very best we can hear from a Client after his stay at the "Fiorita": we try not to neglet any detail to make a Client's stay confortable, and trust that first step is to understand well and make us understand well speaking a proper english and not the "Italian english" too many times spoken in too many places.... thank you for focusing that !
All in all, thank you for recommending so warmly our Hotel to the TA community, we do hope to welcome you again in Florence at the "Fiorita"!
