We stayed three nights in this hotel. I start with good sides : very central, close to the train station and to the tourists sights.
What about the hotel now... I asked a double bed when I booked my room. We arrived we got a twin room. I asked the receptionnist to get an other room, nothing was available.
Then, we went to the bathroom and we found plenty of hair in the bath..The next day we asked the front desk to get a perfect cleaning room..results : no soap to shower.
What about the noise..If you want to sleep late or taking a nap during the afternoon, forget it. The hotel works in rooms from 8am to 9pm.. Ask the hotel before booking this hotel if they still work on it when you go there... with our luck, we got kids next to our room.. Impossible to relax, you will hear everything happen in the corridor.
Breakfast doesn't deserve **** stars, small room and poor buffet.

To conclude, this hotel was very dissapointing for us.

This was our third time to stay here. Each stay was 10 days during the Christmas season. The hotel is in an excellent central location, a two minute walk to the Dumo and Palazzo Veccchio. An abundance of shopping and restaurants surround the hotel location. Very good breakfast buffet with excellent service. The rooms are quite clean and vary in size with all having good storage and comfortable beds. We are three adult travelers from the USA and never felt cramped in any of the rooms we have had during our stays. Room 409 is quite spacious with a very large bathroom including a jetted tub and separate shower. The hotel staff is professional, courteous, efficient, and very helpful. Michele was most helpful in his responses to my emails as well as when we arrived. We have never been disappointed during any of our stays and will definitely be staying there during our next visit. Florence is a most enjoyable destination. If time permits include a day trip to Siena.

Location could not be better, in a main street just seconds from the main tourist attractions and the hotel is lovely
Our room was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean (410). There is a fridge, tea and coffee (buy yourself some milk!) and air conditioning.Being on a corner with 2 windows we had lovely views. Open the curtains and shutters in the morning to see the sun shining on the roof of the Duomo. The bathroom is small but all you need with a walk in shower - no bath.
the second and fourth floors have been refurbished, the third is in progess of being refurbished.
The hotel has a very small lobby with seats for a couple of persons at reception. Staff are polite and helpful.Breakfast is buffet style in the beautifully decorated dining room. There is a good choice of cold food and also hot eggs and bacon.

Cannot fault the hotel at all apart from there is no public areas to sit in or have a drink which means you have to stay in the room or go out which may concern some guests but as you are surrounded by cafes go out and enjoy the atmosphere!!

We caught a taxi from the airport for 25 euro which is really easy to do as they line up taxi rank style outside. The price is fixed. the hotel will call a taxi for you on the return.

The hotel is within walking distance of the railway station as well. We went to Pisa and Lucca in a day. Trains are a cheap form of travel

Thoroughly recommend

This was our second stay and I can't believe it was even better than the first time.
Where shall I start?
Location...safe...beautiful...steps to Duomo and Ponte Vecchio.
Rooms are beautiful and upscale and extremely clean. I was impressed with the bed and the bedding.
The breakfast was the best we have had in traveling around Italy. The staff made coffee to order, and kept replenishing food. The bakery goods were fresh, and they had bacon and eggs also.
We were sad to leave (we stayed for an entire week)!!!

Room Tip: Stay away from the breakfast room, it is on the first floor.

This hotel really is in the middle of the historic district. Great staff, Michele at the front desk just goes out of his way to accommodate you. Good breakfast buffet. I must mention: we got the most amazing room, looking straight at the Duomo. (The hotel doesn't have a restaurant so,just buy some snacks on your own). Really enjoyed our stay and will 100% stay there again!

This hotel is not for budget traveler however is not expensive for you to stay in Florence. I believe you need to take a 15 mins waking from train station, so I suggested to take cab to there better than walking, only you have a light baggage and familiar there, being a first time traveler it is not easy especially in rainly day. This hotel have a small lobby and dinning room however their decorations is very elegant not to mention that the room as well. So it is quite nice hotel the breakfast is good quality even not so much choice but overall is not bad.
The hotel is only need to take few mins you can easy to reach dumo, and just walk out you can start your shopping journey, so you won't need to worry where you go you can easy to spend a day for shopping and eating.

Over Thanksgiving, we visited our daughter who was studying abroad in Florence for the semester. The Hotel Calzaiuoli was a beautiful and perfect fit for us. Located in the heart of Florence within a block of the Duomo, we easily walked everywhere. As some of the rooms are in the process of being refurbished, we enjoyed one that was just finished. It was beautifully, and freshly finished with soft whites and touches of grey and cinnamon. The floors were new, dark hardwood. The ceiling had a soft and lovely papered "fresco." The beds, pillows and linens were new and soft and luxurious. The bathrooms were not enormous, but big enough to be comfortable. I loved the sparkling new finishes of brown marble, chrome and glass. The water pressure was awesome with plenty of heat. Our room was impressively large and had an enormous closet that would rival any around the world. It was filled with large storage cubbies so that we could actually easily hang our clothes, stack our sweaters, stow our shoes and still have room to store our suitcases. Our room was also quiet as it was on the second floor off a side street. We could open the large windows in the room or the smaller one in the bathroom for a pretty view of the side street and take a look at the sky to check the weather! We were pleasantly surprised by how sunny, albeit chilly it was at the end of November. And, as a bonus, there were absolutely no lines to get into any museum or restaurant! It was so worth bundling up a bit at that time of year.

The service was always friendly and expeditious. One drawback was that while we were visiting, the dining room was being remodeled. Not to worry, we had room service delivered to our room each morning. I do look forward to returning to see what the new dining room looks like?!

We really enjoyed staying at this super lovely hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates sparkling new finishes, fresh and soft bedding and a lovely location.

Room Tip: Ask for anything newly re-modeled.
