“Great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 March 2014

We have returned from a 4 night stay in Florence. This hotel is in a fab central location, a 2 minute walk from the Duomo. We were impressed by the size of the room (room 214) however we did find hair in the bath and the walls would have benefited from a touch up of paint.

Rooms were cleaned daily and the staff were on the whole helpful, however when we wanted to get a drink from the bar one afternoon the staff were unhelpful and we were told no one had the key to the bar.

There was plenty of choice for breakfast however the breakfast room is small and if you go at the wrong time it is very busy and tables are on top of each other. When we went down at 10am we found peaceful and food stocks had been replenished.

We visited the beautiful city of Florence last summer and were of course impressed by the history and artwork of such an iconic city. We traveled with family (sister, her husband and two teenage children and our three teenage sons) to Rome and Florence. Florence was our favorite and we found the the hotel to be comfortable, clean and in a wonderful location. It is between the Duomo and the main square (Palazzo Vecchio) with several great restaurants, gelato cafes and shopping opportunities. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was quaint and cozy. Most importantly this hotel's location cannot be beat.

Calzaiuoli Hotel is in a perfect location, right between the Duomo and the Piazza della Signoria. My room was very clean, and pretty big - especially for Italy. The breakfast was good, and the front desk staff gladly helped us make reservations each night. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed three nights in this hotel. I start with good sides : very central, close to the train station and to the tourists sights.
What about the hotel now... I asked a double bed when I booked my room. We arrived we got a twin room. I asked the receptionnist to get an other room, nothing was available.
Then, we went to the bathroom and we found plenty of hair in the bath..The next day we asked the front desk to get a perfect cleaning room..results : no soap to shower.
What about the noise..If you want to sleep late or taking a nap during the afternoon, forget it. The hotel works in rooms from 8am to 9pm.. Ask the hotel before booking this hotel if they still work on it when you go there... with our luck, we got kids next to our room.. Impossible to relax, you will hear everything happen in the corridor.
Breakfast doesn't deserve **** stars, small room and poor buffet.

To conclude, this hotel was very dissapointing for us.

This was our third time to stay here. Each stay was 10 days during the Christmas season. The hotel is in an excellent central location, a two minute walk to the Dumo and Palazzo Veccchio. An abundance of shopping and restaurants surround the hotel location. Very good breakfast buffet with excellent service. The rooms are quite clean and vary in size with all having good storage and comfortable beds. We are three adult travelers from the USA and never felt cramped in any of the rooms we have had during our stays. Room 409 is quite spacious with a very large bathroom including a jetted tub and separate shower. The hotel staff is professional, courteous, efficient, and very helpful. Michele was most helpful in his responses to my emails as well as when we arrived. We have never been disappointed during any of our stays and will definitely be staying there during our next visit. Florence is a most enjoyable destination. If time permits include a day trip to Siena.

Location could not be better, in a main street just seconds from the main tourist attractions and the hotel is lovely
Our room was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean (410). There is a fridge, tea and coffee (buy yourself some milk!) and air conditioning.Being on a corner with 2 windows we had lovely views. Open the curtains and shutters in the morning to see the sun shining on the roof of the Duomo. The bathroom is small but all you need with a walk in shower - no bath.
the second and fourth floors have been refurbished, the third is in progess of being refurbished.
The hotel has a very small lobby with seats for a couple of persons at reception. Staff are polite and helpful.Breakfast is buffet style in the beautifully decorated dining room. There is a good choice of cold food and also hot eggs and bacon.

Cannot fault the hotel at all apart from there is no public areas to sit in or have a drink which means you have to stay in the room or go out which may concern some guests but as you are surrounded by cafes go out and enjoy the atmosphere!!

We caught a taxi from the airport for 25 euro which is really easy to do as they line up taxi rank style outside. The price is fixed. the hotel will call a taxi for you on the return.

The hotel is within walking distance of the railway station as well. We went to Pisa and Lucca in a day. Trains are a cheap form of travel

Thoroughly recommend

This was our second stay and I can't believe it was even better than the first time.
Where shall I start?
Location...safe...beautiful...steps to Duomo and Ponte Vecchio.
Rooms are beautiful and upscale and extremely clean. I was impressed with the bed and the bedding.
The breakfast was the best we have had in traveling around Italy. The staff made coffee to order, and kept replenishing food. The bakery goods were fresh, and they had bacon and eggs also.
We were sad to leave (we stayed for an entire week)!!!

Room Tip: Stay away from the breakfast room, it is on the first floor.
