Bernini Palace Hotel

From the outside, this hotel looks a little severe - grey stone with little in the way of decoration or embellishment. Its also on a busy corner, with (as you would expect so near major tourists attractions) lots of fellow travellers walking from the Uffizi to Santa Croce. Inside the door, its more peaceful, with a well staffed reception, lobby and bar. Rooms in the main hotel are traditional in style, to reflect the history of the building. Rooms in a rear extension (on the first floor) are "tuscan" in design. The breakfast room is in a large double height room, with excellent friendly staff, at hand to bring tea and coffee. Lots of fresh fruit, meats, cheeses, pastries, rolls, salad, juices, cereals and yoghurts - as well as eggs and bacon. The toaster may take a day or two to comprehend ...!

The hotel was spotless, although at the time of our visit, we noticed problems with the sewer drains outside the hotel.

We stayed on the tuscan floor - some days fruit and drinks were provided in the special lobby, and the rooms are decorated with a rustic feel. Rooms either look out onto the street, or on internal small light-wells. The former gives you more of a view, but with the street noise. Our first floor room was a little dim, even on sunny days - and the air conditioning is very efficient.

Free wifi and a complementary bottle of water each day are good touches. There is also access to a rooftop hot tub, and ground floor restaurant.

September is a busy month for Firenze - and the price of the hotel reflects the high demand - although longer stays attract a 40% discount.

Fantastic location. walking distance to main sights, large room decorated in tuscan style, large modern bathroom. Great buffet breakfast in the ballroom, very friendly wait staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay.

Room Tip: We paid a bit more for the "executive" room but believe it was worth it.

We had a lovely trip to Florence (who doesn't), but the loveliness of this hotel definitely made the trip great. The hotel is in an absolutely fantastic location right in the centre of Florence. Although the rooms aren't that big, their decor was briliant, and made you feel like you were in 19th century Florence. Just brilliant. The staff gave some great evening restaurant recommendations, and were very helpful in directions, booking museum tickets for us (uffizzi gallery and the academia) and also in ordering taxis. My only slight niggle was that the breakfast wasn't brilliant, however due to the amount of great italian food we were eating for lunch and dinner this didn't really matter. If I go back to Florence I will definitely consider staying in this hotel again.

Just returned from a trip to Italy; Venice, Florence and Rome... The Bernini Palace Hotel in Florence far outshined our other hotels. I can't give it enough praise in this review section; it's not big enough... I was traveling with my 18 year old granddaughter. She was so thrilled with this hotel. Was texting all her friends back home about how great it was. The Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and clean and beautifully decorated. The breakfast was very good and a really nice feature of our stay in Florence. The location was excellent; we were able to walk to everything; Ponte Vecchio, Piazza, Duomo, Accadamia and Uffizi. I will surely stay here again when I return to Italy, which I plan to do. And will highly recomment this hotel to all my friends and family. Bravo Hotel Bernini Palace.. Beautiful !!

Room Tip: We had a room on the 5th floor, which was the same floor as the rooftop terrace. We so enjoyed sitt...

Spent three days in Bernini in September.

Room - Clean, tidy, a little odd - felt like a Moroccan bedchamber, claustrophobic - I guess that goes for all hotels in Florence.

Staff - Kind, polite, clear, multilingual.

Location - Fantastic, one minute from Ufitzzi, two from Duomo.

Breakfast - standard buffet fare, cooked elements werent very good, nice cakes!

We had a non-smoking room; came into our room an hour after first checking in and clearly somebody had been smoking. It may have been the turndown service simply having just smoked a cigarette themselves and having the odor on their clothes which permeated our room, or may be another guest smoking in their room which came through the vents. In either case we called the front desk and spoke to Enzo who told us that we were being ridiculous and that it was not possible that our room smelled like smoke. He actually began to criticize us for thinking this what kind of customer service is that? Additionally upon check out (we were traveling with a wedding party so there were at least six other couples) Enzo charged several people incorrectly for "per person room charges" that none of us quite understood. When a couple people asked for clarification he became very indignant and actually got loud with us. When several of us finally brought all our bills up he finally relinquished and paid us back in cash. Disgraceful.

Dear Sir,
First of all I would like to thank you for your comment however I must inform you that Enzo, our Chef Concierge, who has stayed with us for 24 years and whom we hold in high esteem, is really disappointed for having caused such a bad impression on you. I have summoned him for an explanation and Enzo gave us a version of the facts which I believe without hesitation.
Enzo had only tried to reassure you, without using the words described. In a resolute, reassuring and cordial way, that our guests usually find pleasant; he only wanted to explain you that your electronic key prevented anyone from entering in your room and that our room-maids aren't absolutely allowed to smoke in the rooms, because they would be immediately fired.
With regards to the check-out episode, Enzo has given back by cash part of the city tax of the Florentine municipality, for which we give all details and information at our Guest' arrival, because inadvertently a Client had already paid it twice by credit card.
Dear Sir, I’m honestly very sorrowed also for the offensive words you wrote against Enzo, because in this case, I believe you wrongly interpreted his behavior.
I remain at your disposal, for any further clarifications please do not hesitate to contact me at the Bernini Palace.

Cordially yours,

David Foschi
