“"Great room, hotel is just shy of 5 stars"”

First off, let me say that we'd definitely return to Florence and to the Bernini. Our double deluxe room was quite spacious (especially for Europe), clean and comfortable. The bathroom had plenty of counter space (which is also rare). We also loved the location - just a few steps from the Uffizi and the fantastic Piazza Signoria. However, there were a few small annoyances - the overall service was good, but some of the folks at the front desk had a bit of an attitude and were kind of brusque. Also, the breakfast was second-rate. The selection was only fair, and there was an extra charge (on top of the already high room rate) for eggs and oatmeal. While we were there (for 5 nights) a large group came in and invaded the breakfast room like locusts. I can't fault the hotel for booking in groups, which is their lifeblood, we couldn't get into the breakfast room that morning, which was quite frustrating. There was also a lot of loud construction going on in the hotel, but only during daylight hours. Bottom line for us is despite the few downsides, we'd come back again.

Room Tip: We were on the a floor between 2 and 3 (lots of risers) toward the back and it was very quite. The...

The first thing I do when looking for a hotel is look up the city in TA and punch in my dates. In this case Olotels.com had a considerably lower rate for Bernini Palace than the other booking companies. We went at the tail end of summer so I was a bit concerned that it might be a pricing error or a bad room that they were just trying to sell off but everything was great. The positive reviews you read are pretty accurate.

The room service was fantastic and quick. We never returned to an unmade room. We had no problems with the linen sheets and towels and found them to be quite classy. Most importantly the room was spotless. Some people mentioned dark rooms but we had the exact opposite. I think if you book a regular room you're getting your money's worth here.

I was there as a tourist so the included breakfast was a great start to the day and one of the better breakfasts I've had in that price category room. The great ambiance helps too.

I can't comment on the other food or service options in the hotel. It's Florence so other than the complimentary breakfast we couldn't wait to eat outside of the hotel. Few places in the world have so many great options. Right around the corner was All'Antico Vinaio for a great afternoon sandwich and Vini e Vecchi Sapori for a great casual dinner.

If you get a decent price don't hesitate or worry about this one.

We stayed for 7 nights at this hotel. We were very grateful for the upgrade to one of their best rooms, however our friends who were staying with us there at the same time were very unhappy with their room. Ours was large and spacious. Theirs was like a dungeon-imagine "Shades of Grey" !! in maroon/pink and black -yuk-and a window that overlooked the air conditioning unit.
The breakfast was served in a lovely room with very attentive staff.
The house keeping and front of house staff were also very lovely but on one occasion we were woken at 10.00 pm to have our bed turned down and be given our chocolates. We were already asleep!
The internet was hopeless and we had to go down to the computer room down stairs every time to check emails.
The best part about this hotel is its location. It is very handy to everything but at night it was noisy because it was on the piazza. It was also noisy because of renovations.
I really don't think that this is a 4 star hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a very specific description of the exact room you will ger.

This hotel was very good. The location was excellent and the staff was very professional and always courteous and responsive. The rooms were well appointed and very clean.

Notwithstanding all of these good points, the best thing about the Bernini Palace was the location. Literally a stone's throw from all of the Florence hot spots allowing for easy access to some of Florence's best tourist destinations without resorting to cabs or buses.

The hotel itself is also very quiet in the evenings allowing for a good nights rest after a long day of walking about....I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and would return myself upon my next trip to Florence.

We stayed for 3 nights in a "Superior Room"

We were delighted with our choice of hotel in Florence. It is in a brilliant location only 2 minutes walk from the Piazza della Signoria and the Uffizi.

The public areas of the hotel are elegant and the staff of very friendly and highly efficient. The service at the bar and in the breakfast room was fantastic - friendly and prompt.

The room was wonderful, large with plenty of room for a small table and two chairs at the foot of the large bed, The bedlinen was worth note, real, soft linen. The window only looked out onto a lightwell area but there was plenty of light in the room. The bathroom was fantastic, a large vanity area with plenty of bench space, separated by a door from the bathroom. A nice large bath and shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, etc all supplied. The towels were plushy and thick.

There were slippers and bathrobes provided and turn down service each evening with sweets left on the pillow.

We ordered room service one evening, delicious platters of antipasti and breads and Prosecco which came very promptly.

The Wifi was free and had an excellent strength signal.

The breakfast buffet is served in a gorgeous room that looks like a ballroom. Delicious cappucino and espresso offered on arrival. As well as the usual fruits, pastries, breads, cold meats and cheeses - there were scrambled eggs and bacon and fresh juices. Even sparkling wine!

We only had one issue. On checkout, the clerk converted our bill to Aussie dollars without asking if that was what we wanted ( as they are required to do) My husband didn't notice and so we ended up paying a high conversion rate, and he was not very happy about it when checking the bill later. That is the only reason that I've given the hotel 4 stars instead of 5

Room Tip: I'd recommend a Superior room for the extra space

If nothing else the location itself is amazing. It is right next to the Uffizi and most of Florence is very easily accessible. The hotel itself is very nice. Luxurious and the rooms are very large and comfortable, especially for European standards. The concierge very helpful and nice, as is the rest of the staff. The lobby bar is perfect for a nightcap if you want a change from one of the many squares of Florence.
The only drawback is the breakfast - it is surprising that a hotel of this standard charges extra for omelletes, fried eggs, etc and only boiled and scrambled are included.
We booked through hotels.com and got a great pay for 3 nights stay for 4 offer.

We loved our 3 night stay at Bernini Palace in October and would recommend it to all friends and family! The staff throughout the hotel were all helpful and very pleasant. Check in was prompt and efficient. Our room was a simple standard room furnished with high thread count linens and lovely bath soaps and lotions. Very comfortable beds and sleep quality was excellent. The breakfast was terrific with hot eggs, and cold juices, meats, cheese was all fresh and nice quality. The location is exactly perfect for this city. The ambience and decor is spot on. We hope to return again.
