“very disappointing”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

I am going to sound like a total whinger after seeing other reviews of this hotel, but I can only rate it as I experienced it. We stayed 3 nights here and wished I had gone back to the Pendini where I had stayed in September.
On the plus side......the check in was easy and fast. We were even upgraded.
The room was lovely.
But, in the bathroom the shower leaked over the bath and right out the door.
Yes, they would get someone to look at it and give us more towls to mop up.
The check in staff were helpful, when you could get them to stop talking betwen themselves.
The lounge area is small and was a bit tired. Chair and lounge covers really need a refurb.
There was some sort of small conference on when we were there and they used the lounge area throughout the day. Surely a conference room could have been found for them. Leaving this area for other guests.
One of the reasons for booking this hotel was the restaurant. But, it was out of use. We weren't advised of this when we booked.
Our room a little noisy with people passing under our window at night and early in the morning. No double glazing here.
Now a plus ! The breakfast room was gorgeous . The staff were very attentive. But, the breakfast was not the best I have had in Italy.
Not sure what constitutes a 5 star hotel in Europe, but having worked in the industry this hotel would not rate in the USA or Australia.

Dear Guest,

we are really sorry for the inconveniences.

I would like to inform you that upon request our maintenance and housekeeping assistance are available 24 hours.

Regarding the Lounge I'm quite disappointed because we recently renovated it, probably you didn't like its particular style. There wasn't any conference in this area, it was a small Group meeting moment.

As per our advise our Restaurant was closed for a private event but a Lounge Bar Menu and the Room Service were available.

I hope you will give us the chance coming back in the future at the Bernini Palace Hotel, so please do not hesitate contact me directly.

With best regards,

David Foschi - General Manager

Fabulous place! The Manager Massimo greeted us and updated us to a suite that was spectacular. The room is gorgeous, location perfectly in heart of Florence. Breakfast was great and the overall vibe of the hotel was very classy. The staff was excellent all around, every staff member we encountered was wonderful. Wouldn't even consider looking to stay anywhere else.

Room Tip: If possible try to get the suite, its absolutely wonderful

We stayed for 4 nights in this lovely hotel in this beautiful city.
the check-in was fast, the receptionists were helpful and friendly "Massimo" in particular.
the atmospher was just right and compatible with the city itself.
the breakfast was good, not like other five stars hotels we were in but good and for sure better than the one we had in Rome !
the room was neat and comfortable, no complimantary water offered !
a free wife was a plus but u should ask for it.
the beautiful "piazza de signoria" is a few steps away where the Palazzo Vecchia and the Uffizi museum are located.

i recommend this hotel, and i will be back again.....

We visited Italy for twelve days staying in Rome, Florence and Venice; this hotel is simply fabulous and elegant definitely first rate. It was the best of all the hotels we visited. We will stay there again when we next visit Tuscany. We loved it.

Hotel is just in the middle of everything, that matters inFlorence, but this causes a bit of problems for those, who arrive by car-GPS does not work very well in the maze of narrow streets of old city, but it is not a major problem.
Hotel is beautiful, not to say charming, but it has shortcomings, because it was not built as a hotel in our modern times,so compromises between modern expectations and old charms are visible.
Rooms are large,clean,bathtooms as well.
Sevice is not to the highest standard,I had an argument with receptionst, who wanted to photocopy my credit card, which is not a acceptable practice.
Valet parking works fine, both in and out.
Best of all is breakfast room and breakfast itself.Room is absolutely marvelous, table settings in grand style,do not miss it!
Bottom line : do not expect moden amenities in ancient palace!Just enjoy it as is.

This is the place to stay in Florence! The most amazing location for being in the midst of Florence! Breakfast was absolutely the best so don't miss it. Great service & the rooms were luxurious & if it wasn't for Florence being an amazing place to explore I would have stayed in all day! Eat gelati at Grom & enjoy the great food at your doorstep!
