“Great customer service, great location...”
Reviewed 9 September 2012

We have just spent 2 nights at the Grand Minerva & the one thing that really stands out was the great customer service across the entire hotel!! All the girls at reception spoke strong English & helped with everything!!

The hotel itself is in a good location, just a short walk to Duomo & 5 minutes from the train station.

The rooms were a good size & had a small, but adequate bathroom.

Breakfast also very good - espresso coffee, etc.

Loved it - would definitely stay again!!

We spent 2 nights at this hotel. The staff were friendly and the hotel is very conveniently located to the centre, about 5 min walk away. The breakfast was excellent, a good deal of choice and even gluten free products. The pool is small and the sun beds not made for lying on for a period of time, however it was nice to get away by the pool and enjoy drinks on the roof terrace. The beds are comfortable, the rooms very nicely decorated. I would definitely revist. Il Caminetto Restaurant, about 5 mins walk away behind The Duomo is most certainly worth going to. We ate there both evenings having enjoyed the outdoor experience on 2 previous trips. On average a main course which is of generous proportions is around 18 Euros. A bottle of very nice wine, similar!

We had a great stay at the Grand Hotel Minerva. Great location, clean rooms, friendly staff and the roof top pool made the hot days bearable. We loved hanging out by the pool and enjoying the views, there are also private areas on each floor you can sit on. The restaurant was great and there were several other places to eat directly across from the hotel.

We stayed for five days in August and will definitely come back.

The Grand Hotel Minerva is really fantastic.
The staff is very kind and pro, rooms and services are perfect.
The pool on the roof is realy wonderfull, with a full view of the Firenze.
You can enjoy different view, with the sunset or the sunshine.

Room Tip: Standard rooms are already very class and confortable.

We chose this hotel because of the location (literally a 5 minute walk from the train station) and because it was one of few in Florence having a pool. We booked a junior suite which was pretty much as depicted on the website, although there wasn't a balcony. It did have a wonderful view of SMN church.

The bed was very, very comfortable (a pleasant surprise since I had heard stories of uncomfortable beds in Italy). The room itself was bright, very clean and reasonably spacious. The bathroom was somewhat small, but the jacuzzi made up for the size of the bathroom.

Staff were very pleasant and helpful and made us feel quite welcomed.

The view from the pool area was spectacular. The pool itself was somewhat on the small side, as was the surrounding area, and was fairly crowded as it was 104 degrees when we visited.

I would highly recommend this hotel and certainly will return if I have occasion to visit Florence again.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms at the end of the hall, they are quieter, room 326 has a lovely view and is quite sunn...

This was a fantastic hotel. The room were large, clean and the ac was great. The rooftop pool was amazing and very welcome in the heat of August. The breakfast was super and varied, and very organised. The staff were exceptionally helpful, arranging tickets for the Academia, recommending good restaurants and bars. Will definitely be returning.

We stayed here in the middle of July. The location is perfect especially if you are arriving or departing by train. Its only a block from the train station and only a short walk to the Duomo.

The room was clean and a good size - but a standard room isn't really depicted in the Hotel Photos. We did have a room with a view of the Piazza though. Other reviewers have complained about the noise but it didn't really cause us any problems.

Breakfast was included in the price and was quite reasonable - not overwhelmingly good or bad either, however staff were very efficient.

The hotel gets an extra point not only for its location and reasonable price but for the really great rooftop pool area with fabulous views.

All in all, its a pretty good hotel at a good price - if I returned to Florence, I would stay here.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view of the piazza - lovely for when the sun goes down.
