“A Four Star Hotel with the Heart and Spirit of a Five Star”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2013

I'll begin with the obvious -- the location of this hotel is unbeatable, proudly reigning on the piazza together with the splendid church of Santa Maria Novella. So close to public transport, and also easily accessible (when required!) by taxis and other vehicles.
The hotel was recently renovated with a sympathetic and artistic eye. Brilliant use of photographs to enhance room doors, stairwells, and walls. Ample, comfortable lobby and bar. But what makes this place so special is its staff. From the desk to the breakfast servers to the porters to the maids -- to a person, the staff were friendly, helpful, and approachable. And while I'm thinking of it -- the breakfast was/is simply superb. They even had on hand several gluten free products to accommodate my own dietary issues.
On top of that -- free wif-fi and, in our superior room, a fabulous view, noise cancelling glass in the windows, and a spacious bathroom. Why would we ever stay in any hotel in Florence but this one?

Room Tip: Go for the superior rooms -- they're worth it!

We stayed at GHM on the last leg of our Toscana trip. The location is just great near to all tourist attractions within walking distance.
Reception staff was very polite and efficient. We had a bellboy to show us around the hotel.
We were given a room with a view of the Piazza and it was lovely. The room per sei is very dull and cold as in plainly decorated. The bathroom is quite small and it was difficult to use the loo and the shower. It is cramped. The headbed fabric smelled of other guets' sweat. There is no iron or board in the room for fire safety reasons however they charge a small fee to press your laundry.
The roof top we had a wonderful view of Florence centre and far behind, it was lovely. The pool was shut as it was cold but i think it might be lovely in the summer.
Breakfast was very good, great choices of food and buckfizz available. I realised that the waiting staff seemed not to collect used dishes often as our dished pilled up at the corner of the table.
Over all the premises are good, great location however a very dissapointing room even though we had a view.

My husband and i stayed here for 4 days in February 2013 and it was an extremely pleasant stay overall. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from both the SMN Train station and the Doumo. The terrace has a beautiful view of the city of Florence .The staff was extremely courteous and helpful and made our stay extremely comfortable. Our room had a beautiful view of the Santa Maria Square and the bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was enjoyable. We stayed in a superior room which was airy and big and would suggest the same if you don't want a small room. All in all a very nice stay. The only thing is the hotel is a bit more expensive than the others but the staff and comfort made up for the same.

Room Tip: Get a superior room on the higher floors overlooking the square.

We stayed here recently for 4 days. Well situated hotel, easy walking distance from the SMN train station. Situated on a quiet piazza with minimal traffic. Good service, extensive breakfast buffet and a pleasant base for exploring Florence on foot.

Stayed here with family. The staff is great and the food at the restaurant is very tasty. If you book restaurant even 30 mins in advance you get a 10% discount. This was applied to the bill without even reminding them of our booking.

We have a 4 year old child and someone from the staff came to our room to provide some crayons and colouring book, which I thought was quite a good gesture.

Overall we had a great experience in spite of the ongoing renovation at the moment. Highly recommended.

Grand Hotel Minreva is located at the Santa Maria Square (Piazza) in the heart of Florence and within walking distance from the Central Train Station.
It's adjacent the Santa Maria Basilica with its amazing architecture and deep into the history of this wonderful city of Florence.
The hotel has a wonderful rooftop swimming pool and surrounded with numerous coffees and restaurants.
The breakfast is hearty and the staff are very very friendly and helpful
However the rooms are small and it lacks a fitness centre.

Room Tip: Take a room overlooking the Piazza Santa Maria.

i walked with a heavy backpack from the rail station to this hotel. Its in a quite part of city but its on the good side. Kind of on the bottom of the city/river. So when walking around city you can make sort of a circle & see everything & come back to where you started. All the museums & sightseeing buildings all within walking distance, the hotel has a restaurant, but there is so much good food around Florence.
The rooms are nice & adequate for almost anyone. Good comfortable beds & a good layout, the bathrooms are ok, they are parts of the bathroom not designed properly, especially shower area -but its ok for everything else you get. The hotel not anywhere near a ritz but for the value its nice & location.
As a backpacker this hotel was way more than i could need, but i could see it being suitable for families & anyone coming into see Florence, nice staff & international friendly service.
