Close to everything yet quiet location. Rooftop pool small but lovely. Breakfast nice with best coffee in Italy. I really enjoyed my stay and would return. Great helpful staff with directions car etc!

When researching our trip we made a point to book hotels that had a modern feel to the rooms. So when we were told at check-in that we would be staying in the Antique Suite we both looked at each other and cringed a little, not knowing what to expect. After some trouble finding our room (we kept walking past the ornate doors of our room, mistaking them for the hotel's decor), we entered to find it to be the exactly the sort of room we were trying to avoid booking. But after 15 seconds the inital shock wore off and we started to understand why people might book this sort of room. The room was very large, with a renaissance-style painted ceiling, ornate chandelier, and old-style pattern fabrics. There wasn't a couch as such, but four armchairs. The marble bathroom had heated tiles. The room had fantastic air-conditioning and you never once felt the heat of the Florentine summer in the room.

Outside of the room, there are two main selling points to this hotel. The location was only a 5 minute stroll from the main station which made the transfer to the hotel and our morning trip to Pisa on our second day very easy. The cherry on top though is the amazing rooftop pool and bar, the perfect way to wind down at the end of a hot day sightseeing.

The one small flaw to our stay it was the bed situation. As is common, they were two single beds pushed together with king-sized sheets and duvet. For some reason though, the beds were on wheels and if you rolled around the bed would roll as well, often creating a gap between the mattresses. The fitted sheet still stayed on so you couldn't actually fall through but it was still odd. The mattresses themselves though were very comfortable and the firm pillows were the best of our holiday.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Grand Minerva. The breakfast was pretty good and the service from the reception staff was excellent. And although the decor of our room was not to our specific tastes, we left with an appreciation of our Antique Suite's style.

This hotel has a great location on a busy central square. It is very close to the train station and has amazing views of the city. We had a spacious suite facing the Duomo. The rooftop terrace, although smaller than I expected, was lovely and also offered incredible views of the city. Due to it's central location, it gets noisy at night which can really interfere with a good nights rest. (I am a deep sleeper and am not easily bothered.) The hotel was in need of some "tender loving care." The beds were not comfortable, the furniture and carpeting was worn. The service was average. I did not prefer the buffet breakfast. While it offered a wide variety of food; the quality and taste was just average. I would not return to this hotel on future trips to Florence. While it did have its strong points, they just do not outweigh the down side. I also expected more from a hotel with this price tag.

Dear Guests,
I am really sorry that our hotel did not meet your expectations. Honestly this is something quite unusual for us and when it happens it is normally due to some specific inconvenience. It would really be helpful to me to have more details on your experience. For example, when you say that the bed was not comfortable, were the mattresses too soft? Or too hard? What especially concerns me is your remark about an “average” service. Our staff are regularly praised for their friendliness and helpfulness and it would really be important to know what may have been the issue. Please feel free to directly contact me at fburroni@grandhotelminerva.com; I would really appreciate a deeper insight on your experience with us. Despite to your decision not to choose us again in the future, I still hope you will give us a second chance if coming back to Florence. Should this happen, I would like you to consider me at your disposal in order to arrange your stay in the best possible way.
With my kindest regards,
Filippo Burroni

We really enjoyed our stay here. The location was very close to the train station and easy walking distance to many of the main attractions and shopping. The breakfast was excellent. It was more than you standard European plan. It had numerous options as well as Mimosas every day! Loved the rooftop pool area. It was a little small with limited seating and lounging.

We stayed here the last day of our trip to Italy. The hotel was an easy walk (with luggage) from the train station. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and accomadating, we arrived early and they were able to set us up in our room. The rooms were clean and large, much larger than other places we stayed on our trip. We had to leave the next day very early (5am) for our flight home, the staff made up a breakfast to go for us which was extremely considerate. The hotel itself overlooks a beautif piazza and is an easy walk to everything you'd want to see in Florence. They also had a rooftop pool/bar with great views. We were sorry we didn't have more time to spend here and would definetely recommend this hotel.
