We had the junior suite facing the santa maria novella and the mountains- room was very spacious and clean. The location is just perfect, its 2 mins away from the railway station and 5 - 10 mins away from Duomo by foot. We stayed there for 3 nights. The breakfast was so so, not much of variety in the buffet..the only thing that annoyed me was after 10.30am the waitress just want you to leave, they will make sure that they close the buffet at exactly 10.30, as if they have another shift to attend elsewhere. My suggestion to the hotel would be to give your guest some more time during breakfast ,even if its past your deadline.

Room Tip: Go for the junior suite - its spacious with a great view facing the santa maria novella

Dear Guests,
Let me first of all thank you for booking our property and for your words of appreciation regarding its location and your room. But I would like to especially than you for pointing out an intolerable attitude from what seems to be a specific member of our staff. Usually our staff are praised for their helpfulness and cheerful attitude and your remark is really something I would like to investigate further. I would be very thankful to you if you would write me directly indicating the exact dates of your stay in order to properly address this issue.
I hope you will give us a second chance if coming back to Florence and, should this be the case, I would be very pleased to make anything possible to let you have a memorable stay.
With my kindest regards,

Filippo Burroni – General Manager

Unbelievably friendly, helpful staff the entire weekend. Great location. We had a room on top floor facing the piazza and with windows closed it was quiet. Rooms are very spacious and bed was comfortable. Nice breakfast buffet. Had booked as we were intrigued by rooftop bar but it was under renovation. They also have a seasonal rooftop pool. Guess we need to head back in the summer.

Room Tip: Upgraded to Superior room and it was very nice - top floor. Had room 506 with nice hardwood floors...

This hotel sets the standard for service, cleanliness and hospitality. We were greeted by smiles on the first day and every day. How important that is, and yet many hotels fail at that first hurdle.

Firstly, as per many reviews I have see, the location is great. Right in the Santa Maria Novella Piazza (for a change the name of the hotel did not mean 'near' or 'next to' - and it is next door to the beautiful SMN church itself! The hotel is central enough that you feel you are experiencing the city without being overwhelmed as you would in some of the other squares. A short walk to the train station and everywhere in the city is reachable on foot if you are up to it.

I recommend a room overlooking the square if you can get it. We upgraded for a small fee and it made all the difference.

Good consistent breakfasts and lovely hard-working staff who will go out of their way to help, yet leave you alone while you enjoy your food. (One customer complained that he had to get the waitresses attention to ask for something!) Personally, I don't like staff hovering while you eat

Would definitely go back / recommend .

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the square, superior rooms. (an upgrade when you get there might be cheaper t...

We arrived at The Grand Minerva Hotel at lunchtime on Monday 10th March and had no problems checking in although check in time was not until 2pm. The room was lovely and well equipped. We found that the safe and air conditioning did not work but they were corrected immediately and we received a free drinks voucher for our trouble (even though it was no trouble at all). The staff were very welcoming and extremely accommodating and look after our every need. The only problem we had was our room (122) was directly above the dining room and the noise each morning and late at night from moving dining chairs with steel feet around on a tiled floor was horrendous as the staff got the room ready for meal times, but this was our only complaint.
The location is amazing both near the central train station and the city centre and we will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to spend time in the lovely city of Florence.

Room Tip: Do not accept a room above the dining room!!

Have stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. Room furnishing is abit old.. however, location is very good. It is very near to the Firenze SMN station. Walking distance to Florence Duomo-Santa Maria del Fiore, Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio etc.. Overall the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful.

We stayed in this hotel for a brief one day visit to Florence. My husband and I were traveling with my mother and our two small dogs. We traveled by car, and it was a bit tricky to arrive at the hotel with a personal vehicle (you will have to drive through the pedestrian area) but once we got to the hotel the staff took care of our car and we didn't have to worry until we checked out. That being said, the hotel is very near the train station which we will consider for our next trip. Our rooms were very spacious, clean, and comfortable. We were even provided with a dog bed and food dish for our pups. We booked two rooms, and the hotel gave us two right next to each other. The hotel is very lovely, classic Italian style, and has wonderful terraces with views of the city and a rooftop pool (although it was closed for winter). There is also a small, private garden across from the restaurant. The location is perfect - especially for a short trip. Everything is within walking distance; Ponte Vecchio, David, Duomo, shops, restaurants, gelaterias, you name it! The Santa Maria Piazza itself is very beautiful, with a lovely church and many restaurants and shops steps outside of the hotel. There is also the possibility of catching a cab right across the square. We had dinner at a restaurant across from the hotel, it had decent food and we sat outside on the patio with our dogs. We slept well, although we did hear other guests going in and out of their rooms throughout the night and morning. The hotel breakfast was lovely, with hot and cold options. All of the staff were very kind and answered all of our questions about tourist destinations. We ended up going to see David at the opening time of the museum on a Sunday morning (no line!) at their advice. We certainly had a very pleasant stay.
