I cannot describe how lovely it was to take an early morning swim in the rooftop pool of this hotel and gaze and the stunning Florence skyline. The bells were ringing, swifts were dipping and flying overhead and all was right with the world. It is centrally placed for all the sights, the staff were so kind and welcoming and the breakfast was lovely. The room was great with a balcony facing the plaza where you can hear all the Florentian sounds. Really this was the Florence I expected and knew.

Room Tip: For the views and the ambience get a room facing the plaza.

    The good stuff:
    - great location right next to the Santa Maria Novella and a short walk from the Station
    - easy access/walking distance to Duomo, Ufizzi, etc.
    - amazing, roof top terrace with superb views across the city (well equipped with pool, bar and late night tapas)
    - friendly staff; very welcoming and efficient
    - good breakfast

    Areas that could be improved
    - booked a superior room with double bed directly with the hotel; late check-in (pre-arranged) meant they only had a classic room with twin beds available - disappointing start to a 4 night anniversary break.
    - room given above was 121, located right next to the lifts and the main service area for the floor; sleep after about 6am was pretty difficult; room itself was ok - just the location on the floor; avoid if possible.

    Room Tip: Avoid room 121.

    Dear Guests,
thank you for having chosen our property for such an important event. I am sorry that the accommodation given has not proven satisfactory.
I have reviewed all records for room 121 in august and the only reservation corresponding to the description of your stay is for a Classic Double and not a Superior. This was done with the booking system available on our official website. I have also checked our email system for arrangements for an upgrade but found none of the sort. Of course if we have downgraded you by mistake, we are ready to refund the difference between the two room categories. You just need to contact me at fburroni@grandhotelminerva.com

As a last suggestion to our common readers: it is always possible that the room you are assigned does not match your expectation. Should this be the case, do not hesitate to contact our staff at reception. In many cases it is possible to change rooms if not on the same arrival date, on the following day.

    With my kindest regards,
    Filippo Burroni – General Manager

We have just returned from a week staying here - and will definitely return. You cannot beat the location - right next door to Santa Maria Novella and just a short walk to everywhere you want to go. Fabulous rooftop pool with a breathtaking view towards the Duomo and the amazing Florentine skyline. There's an elegant bar area and service up there too - an Aperol spritz while bronzing and enjoying the view was really quite something! For our son, the pool and the walking distance to everything was a win, together with unlimited and very nice breakfast. What really stands out too is the staff - without exception we found everyone to be courteous, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Overall, a lovely week in a really excellent hotel and very good value.

Room Tip: Top floor facing the Piazza was lovely.

Stayed here for 4 nights when in Florence for a wedding. The location is great, right in the middle of town, near the railway (although don't let that put you off as i didn't hear a train once) and within clear sight of the Duomo. Hotel was very welcoming and staff really friendly.
we had B&B and the breakfast was great. a lot better than I had expected with loads of choice.
The roof top pool and bar was a god send. After spending a morning and most of an afternoon walking round the sights was great to retreat back to the pool to relax and have a drink still amongst all the views of Florence. We had a fairly basic room with no view but was still spacious enough and we were barely in it other than to sleep and shower.

Was a great hotel and couldn't really fault.

My husband and I have just spent 4 days here celebrating out silver wedding anniversary. The hotel is really well situated in the lovely Santa Maria Novella Piazza, which is just a few minutes walk from the train and bus station. The room was overlooking the Piazza, great for people watching, and clean and comfortable. The linen was changed daily and turn-down service was done every evening. The staff were all wonderful and friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Amir was so helpful on the reception desk and booked some tickets for an opera aria evening we had found on the internet but didn't know where it was, he rung them a number of times before he managed to get hold of them, nothing was to much trouble.
We ate a good breakfast every morning, plenty of it!! Cooked breakfast, pastries, cheeses and meats, fruit, yoghurt, juices and cereals - you just helped yourself.
The rooftop bar was a fantastic addition, the views spectacular, great tapas for €5 and the waiters were friendly - so were the pigeons, they were a bit of a pest!
Although we didn't eat in the restaurant, my sister had organised a surprise - pink champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in our room that were delicious!
We had a wonderful few days in florence and will definitely stay here again as the hotel was located within walking distance of everything right next to the beautiful Santa Maria Novella church.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 203 which overlooked to Piazza. It was clean and comfortable. We found the room nice and quiet with the windows and shutters closed.
