“Excellent price, great atmosphere and great room”
Reviewed 14 August 2014 via mobile

This hotel is very cheap but could easily charge double. The breakfast is fantastic, our room, though very small, had a great atmosphere and led onto a private garden area. The staff weren't the friendliest but were helpful whenever we needed anything. There is free wifi and the beds are very comfy. However, the bathroom was very small with the shower getting everything really wet. Also, there was building work whilst we staying which we could hear occasionally.

We had a wonderful time here. We arrived on a Saturday and easily parked outside, the parking is 1euro an hour until 8pm after which it is fee.
We were greeted by a lovely gentleman who quickly processed our check in and gave us a map explaining the best route to the sights and the best place to get the bus – not that we need to as it was a 20 minute walk to the tourist centre down main streets so very easy.
The room its self was a great deal 50euros for the night on a Saturday- this came with the downside of having an external private bathroom but for 50 euros we weren’t complaining. The bathroom its self was a little old fashioned but everything is there and the shower is really strong so not disappointed. The bedroom was basic but comfortable and clean, there were two pillows each, aircon and an additional fan too, as well as a lovely little balcony so we could check up on the car!
We chose to eat out as we explored the city for the full day and headed back quite late, there was a night receptionist to greet us which was nice. At breakfast we were the last room to go down but there was still lots of buffet available – continental of course. Fresh bread, pastries, cheese, ham, fruits and yoghurts and the facilities to make toast. We had our coffee up on the garden terrace which is lovely with parasols and flowers surrounding the terracotta sun terrace.
Overall, a great find. Great value, just what we needed and a lovely welcome.

Room Tip: If you want alue go for room 6 as the bathroom is external its a great price!

Very nice Toscany style rooms/hotel. Nice garden! Good value for money (booked through independent internet site for best price). Not luxurious or trendy, but the Italian traditional style fits perfectly.
There is airconditioning in the room and they do provide toilet paper and shower gel.

Helpfull, friendly staff. They take time to explain things and have maps and directions for bus use on paper for you.

Short and frequent bus connection to the city centre. Make sure to buy tickets and validate them. They are out to screw you and the fine is €50!

Decent Italian style breakfast. Croissants, bread, yoghurt, cereals, jam, cheese, ham. Juice, good coffee and cappuccino. Different tea's. Friendly staff.

Only downsides: separate bathroom and thin wals. Didn't bother us really. It was clean, and the staff was friendly and helpfull.

No great luxury, but you get a clean, nice room and breakfast (real Italian coffee) for a very fair price. Real Tuscan flair in the rooms and common areas (terrace in the sun) in a quiet but authentic part of town with good connections both to the centre (Duomo) and up the hill to Fiesole. Friendly staff. I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Take a double bed if possible. It also gives you a more spacious room.

Ive been to couple of places in italy and left this hotel to review last. It was an amazing experience to stay there- honestly i did not expect so much from 2 star hotel that is so cheap; my number one priority always is clean room and i was pleased to see how clean bedsheets and toliet were. Staff were very helpful and friendly and breakfast was super fresh and delicious ( dont expect a lot for the price paid but whatever they have is good quality ). They even have a gorgeous garden where you can take your coffee and breakfast and enjoy.

The only drawback was that rooms had thin wooden doors with not much lock/ protection, but hnestly i did not feel unsafe not even for a minute. The whole atmosphere and character of the hotel gives you impression you are staying at the countryhouse with your relatives- fully relaxed, safe and taken care of :):)

Just to warn you that its about 30 min walk to the very centre where all the cites are, but it is safe to walk even at night, or you can take a bus which is 10 min ride.

Initially i was very skeptic about 2 star hotel in italy, but i am pleased i stayed there. Certainly deserves more than 2 stars!

Very good location as the city the centre is just a 10-min. bus ride away. Sadly, this is the only good thing I can say about this hotel. There were a lot of mosquitoes in the reception when we checked in. The room and toilet were just ok but they definitely need to replace their bath and bath door. Breakfast was nothing special, just the usual croissants, yogurt, toast, fruit juices and coffee. Oh and by the way, no tea and coffee facilities for the rest of the day.

Arrived at the hotel after a 15min walk from the train on a 37degree day, very hot and sweaty. The reception sumed up the hotel prefectly...unprofessional. The old guy on reception gave us a map and full details on buses, city etc which was nice however this was the last thing we wanted to hear about after our walk in the hot sun with heavy bags, we just wanted to get to our room. Our room had an external bathroom which was not right next to our room and opens up to a lobby area along with four other rooms. The room was very old looking which squashed bugs on the walls. No air con only a fan that went one speed....extremely slow and did nothing. The room was a hot box at night and we had to sleep with cold towels over us. We complained about the fan but nothing was done about this. Walls are very thin. Breakfast was very basic, corn flakes, coco pops, budget museli, dry pastries, bread and spreads. The staff were not freindly at all, I asked for a knife as there were none on the table and was told I would need to wait 10minutes and they were all dirty. Worst hotel I've stayed at across Europe. Look else where!!

Dear Guest,
We would like to thank you for the time you dedicated to write this comment on TripAdvisor, at the same time we are really sorry to read that you are not pleased with the quality of your stay at Hotel Ungherese.

First of all, we apologize for the explanations and attention that our clerk dedicated to you . We believe that all the information on major points of interest in Florence and how to get around the city are very useful and allow our guests to spend a pleasant stay in Florence. We regret that this has not been appreciated by you to the point of complaining about it .

However, we will continue to welcome our customers with the utmost attention , trying to offer a professional and attentive service to ensure they have the best possible stay .

The room with external private bathroom is very close to the room (about 2,5 m.) and it is offered at a very affordable price, explaining clearly that the bathroom, even though it's for the exclusive use of the room itself, is located outside the room. Choosing an economical solution and then complain about it, just doesn't seem fair.

To solve the mosquito problem that occurs during summertime, we have provided all the rooms with appropriate mosquito repellent device. It is not clear why some guests prefer to fight a personal battle with squashing mosquitoes on the walls. However, we try to remedy with a constant maintenance of the painting of the rooms.

The complaint about our breakfast was a big surprise! The breakfast offered to our guests is of a very good quality ! In many cases better than the one offered by hotels of higher category and difficult to find in hotels of the same category.
In fact, we offer a buffet breakfast with daily fresh croissants filled with cream, chocolate or jam , fresh sandwiches , fresh bread made with 5 cereals , biscuits , jams of all types , honey, hazelnut cream , various types of cereals to crunchy muesli , puffed rice and chocolate cornflakes , fruit juices, orange and ace ; fresh milk served either hot or cold , ham and cheese already sliced, yogurt of different types either whole or low-fat , butter, biscuits of different types , soft cheese , bread for toast both white and wholemeal and a toaster is available to guests in the breakfast room .

We also offer espresso (most types), American coffee, cappuccino , hot chocolate , barley , tea and hot milk.

It's our immense pleasure to offer this kind of breakfast and we have always had the best appreciation by our guests and we would also like to emphasize that all of this is offered at no extra charge.

Regarding the scarcity of the knives during breakfast we proceeded immediately to supply new .
I assure you that we provide periodically to replace the allotment of the buffet with new pieces of cutlery, glasses etc. . We have noticed a strange phenomenon: the allocations of the buffet and the bar strangely tend to decrease. . . . . who knows maybe there are ghosts . . . . .

Subsequent to your stay we proceeded to re-install the air conditioner in room no . 6, which had broken down . We apologize for this inconvenience, the particular time of the year, did not allow us an earlier intervention

Wishing to welcome you again in our hotel we send our best regards .
