“Satisfactory Hotel”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

My Husband and I stayed at this Hotel for 3 days in September 2013. The biggest plus of this hotel was the centralized location, very close to the train station. The rooms were very small and hard to move around with our luggage in the room. Our room faced the street so was very noisy if we opened the window. Air conditioner did not work very well. Overall this hotel is ok for location only.

Room Tip: Would recommend asking for a room that was not off the main streets

I wouldn't have picked this hotel myself but overall it was ok. The biggest plus was its central location, right in the middle of everything - in fact the market was right outside our bedroom.

The bedroom itself was dark, basic, quite small, sparsely furnished but kept very clean by the housekeeping staff and was cool, considering the central location and heat outside, due to the window shutters and effective air conditioning. The bed was very large and comfortable. One of the batteries had been removed from the remote control when we arrived but after a word with Reception, was resolved by that evening.

Breakfast again was ok - the juice was not nice, nor the coffee in the urn but cappuccinos were free if you asked the waiting staff (although there was usually a bit of a wait!). There was only a choice of 3 cereals but a good choice of fresh fruit, cold meats, cheese, bread and rolls. There was no hot food apart from sliced omelette, which did go cold.

Overall, more for business than holidays, I would say.

This hotel was clean and reasonable. Staff were helpful and we got the quiet room as requested. It's location is the real winner for this hotel. It is close to the station, restaurants and markets. Decent walk though to Pitti Palace and Ponte Vecchio.

We stayed at this hotel as my husband and I had stayed in 2009 and were delighted with it.
The trip this year was to take a Best of Tuscany trip with Walkabout to celebrate my friends birthday.
I felt that although the room was very clean it lacked comfort and breakfast was not up to the same standard as my last visit.
The hotel is in a great postion next to the San Lorenzo market and an easy walk from the train station.
Reception staff were very helpful and the barman attentive.
The hotel has a good choice of retaurants close at hand.

This was a clean hotel in a very convenient location with almost every major site within Florence being within 15 minutes but most were far less. The Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore [the Duomo] is just 3-4 minutes away. The breakfasts were buffet-style with no hot food and, although they really don’t cater for proper tea drinkers, the attentive waiters produced all sorts of coffees for the guests. The food was a good selection for the multinational visitors and whilst they don’t do evening meals there are dozens of excellent eateries in the area to suit all purses. Excellent and helpful staff behind reception who demonstrate a wide knowledge of the immediate area and all the attractions. Very impressed. The rooms, however, are basic with no coffee- or tea-making facilities so our travel kettle became very useful during the stay. The air conditioning is very effective which may be a real help during the summer although it was to us in mid-September. You may have to ask for extra pillows but we requested some and they arrived in minutes. Leave your present buying to the end of your trip as the excellent market on Via dell’ Ariento is worth using provided you are astute enough to spot the quality goods among the tat. The leather goods are exceptional quality and do haggle 20%-30% worth of the price. They expect it. Rooms on Via Nazionale are noisy with traffic and nightlife and those on the Via dell’ Ariento can be affected by the setting up of the market in the morning. I took a Trip Advisor hint and went for an inner room. Very quiet! Recommended for economy [except for the bar - use local shops] & location.

Room Tip: Rooms on Via Nazionale are noisy with traffic and nightlife and those on the Via dell’ Ariento can b...

The location is excellent and the price for the location is good. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. They provide you with a map and highlight all the local points of interest. They also provide help with unloading your luggage and getting it to your room. My only hesitation is that the room doesn't feel very clean. It had a musty smell and though I didn't see any obvious dirt, I just didn't feel like I could relax in it.
