“Excellent Location, Service, Rooms”
Reviewed 8 October 2011

We stayed three nights in Florence, and this hotel was fantastic all around. Location is always critical and this was a highlight of this hotel--perfectly situated to be a short walk to everything, but on a quiet/cozy street to not feel all the bustle. The hotel interior was excellent--great lobby and breakfast rooms, and very good old charm with new amenities. Rooms were fantastic--good size with good comfort and great amenities. Service was excellent as well--staff were always helpful with good restaurant recommendations as well as great knowledge of area and were always happy to help.

Great hotel--would recommend it to everyone staying within the city of Florence.

Perfect stay in Florence,i have now been at Florence for about 25 times for mens fairs and this is one of my favorite hotels comparing for what you pay,

Location: Perfect in middle of centre in a cozy street.
Lobby: very nice, refurned in old style
Room: Very clean and nice, Conc: very bad shower products, lowbudget fruit style
Breakfast: wow! soo good for been in Italy(country nr 1 for bad breakfast), very fresch with alot of choices in a REALLY beatyful room.

Only concern was the noise att night from the disco JAB, people standing in the street and scream and shout all night.

Just back from here. Great room, with what seemed to me to be a perfect location, because it is so close to so much, but it is on a quiet, but not dead, street. The people there, particularly M---- at the front was very helpful. 4 great dinner recommendations. Room was clean and I think she said that they just re-opened within the last year or two, so everything is like new. Internet connectivity was a hassle but that was the only downside.

We travel extensively and stayed here for our honeymoon based on reviews. I think the hotel is very pretty and the staff is very friendly and willing to be helpful, although they gave us wrong bus/train info. Our room was clean and attractive, but the shower didn't drain, there is no counter space if you need it and the bar in the shower was broken. That being said, the breakfast was wonderful and had a lot to choose from. It was really a great way to start the day. My big complaint was the noise. If you stay facing Via Porta Rossa, be prepared to be awake all night. Mopeds, street parties and apartments across the street were so loud we couldn't sleep. Sometimes people would party in the street - and Italians aren't known for their noise control - until 4-5 am. This was a major negative for me, as we stayed 5 nights.

In summary, the location, breakfast and staff are great. Walking distance to everything. But form the money, I think there are better plenty of better finds and this hotel is overrated.

NH Porta Rossa is a beautiful boutique hotel located centrally in Firenze. The front desk staff was extremely helpful and the hotel has a beautiful breakfast room with an impressive breakfast offering. The hotel includes free Wifi in the lobby. The hotel features one room located in a tower. Be particularly attentive to you room assignment. If you have difficulty with stairs or are older, the tower may not be for you. If you are younger, or seeking a romantic room... the tower is very pretty and has a spectacular view. We had a triple room (112 I think) and it was absolutely gorgeous. The hotel was well maintained and clean. I highly reccomend this hotel!

This a unique and beautiful property, stylish, hip and centrally located to a lot of the major attractions. It's special but you pay for that. Our room was great but if I had to point out some nits they'd be: the street our room faced was a touch loud - light sleepers might have a problem with that; the AC was a bit wonky the first day we stayed but seemed to fix itself the next day. These are nits really, no complaints. There is extremely high end shopping all around but the hotel is an easy walk to other less "designer" areas of town. There is a great bar/pizzeria down the block where we enjoyed cocktails a couple of nights - also kind of pricey but that comes with the territory. This was our honeymoon splurge and we have no regrets.

The NH Porta Rossa was our last stop on a ten-day Tuscany trip. Our accommodations were more modest for the rest of the trip, but we chose this hotel to wind down and relax on our anniversary night before departing Italy for real life back in the States. We were not disappointed. Though it was a little difficult to get to the hotel from the train station initially (without taking a taxi), the walk turned out to be reasonable. You may want to double-check bus routes, as they apparently changed recently (as of 09/2011), and don't seem to go very close to the hotel. The staff were friendly and very accommodating, the room was extremely clean and well-appointed, and the location in Florence could hardly be better. We had a problem with our shower draining the first night, but they quickly resolved the issue. For such a hotel, I do think that free wireless Internet access should have been available, but in the end, I was better off avoiding the technology distractions while vacationing. Overall, we were extremely pleased with our stay.
