NH Collection Firenze Porta Rossa
Ranked #29 of 410 Hotels in Florence
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 25 January 2012

I just love the NH Porta Rossa. I recently stayed here for a short weekend getaway as a side trip from Paris. I was fortunate to find this hotel at a very decent rate.

The standard room is more than enough for one person. It's a bit on the smallish side for two but would still work. The floors are in a beautiful hardwood with a nice TV hanging on the wall. The bed is very comfortable and there's plenty of storage for your stuff. Everything was well maintained and super clean.

The bathroom is excellent. Large in comparison to the room and finished in a very elegant gray stone. There are speakers in the bathroom so you can listen to the news in the morning when getting ready. A heated towel rack and modern, glass enclosed shower completes the room. Water pressure from the shower was great as well.

The hotel itself is beautifully appointed, from the lobby with its beautiful ceiling to the theme of the decorations on each floor. WiFi is free in the lobby. The breakfast is highly recommended; there's a large assortment of pastries, cold meats, hot items (eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns, etc.) fresh fruits, yogurt, juices, etc.

The location cannot be beat. Right next door to luxury shops like Ferragamo, Gucci, Prada, etc. and just minutes from other popular Florence destinations like the Duomo (5 minutes), Ponte Vecchio (5 minutes), Piazza della Signoria (5 minutes), etc.

Only tip: ask for a room on the Via Porta Rossa side. The other side sometimes get deliveries early in the mornings and can get noisy.

This is my hotel of choice for the next time I'm in Florence!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the Via Porta Rossa side.

We arrived at this hotel on January 17th, early in the afternoon, and we were given the room immediately. We were surprised to find out that it was an old palazzo and one can still see remanents of that. It is located few blocks away from the Duomo, the staff was very helpful -in particular people in the restaurant; breakfasts were great with lots of items, the wi-fi is limited and slow, our room was big with a lovely street window, the bathroom was a bit too cold at night. When we left the hotel, on the 21st, there was a last minute taxi-drivers strike and the receptionist got us transportation to the airport (although at higher price than a regular cab drive). All in all a good experience.

Perfectly located, charming place. I am so happy I found it. I appreciated the free wifi in the lobby. The breakfasts were awsome.

Room Tip: I understand that one side of the hotel has more street noise than the other sides, so I asked for a...

The hotel is located in the heart of old town, close to all main attractions but far from the crowds of Florence! Cosy, modern and traditional with beautiful antiques ouevres in an amazing historical building in Florence. We were kindly upgraded to a suite - " the best ever" with views to the roofs of Florence! We stayed there 7 nights in march, 2011 and, as we`re planning to come back, I am witting this review about NH Porta Rossa, for sure one of the best hotels in Florence! Great staff, great breksfast, silence, beauty and modernity in a historical building and the wonderful Florence, its good food, culture, history and art... Is it possible to have more from a hodiday trip?

This is the second time i stay in this hotel. Rooms are very modern and in a good condition but its still some details left to be a 5 star hotel. Lobby is also nice but the hotel could put in some extra attention to details in this area since its the first impression of the hotel. The soffas look a bit old but in general its very nice!
The breakfast rooms is very beatiful and breakfast is very good, but here its also something missing to be top notch. Service, athmosphere and the music in the breakfastroom and bar could be better.

But i recommend a visit in this hotel.

The hotel is located in a villa right in the heart of the old town.....but don't arrive by car. The hotel is located on a pedestrianised street and the poor GPS will be confused in those narrow streets. While the ambiance of the old building has been retained, the rooms are modern, well furnished and comfortable. A good breakfast is served on the ground floor. There is a bar but this was not busy while we were there and we normally went out for a drink as there are lots of options close by. All the main sights of Florence are within easy walking distance.

Great hotel. Very central location, and you can walk to everything you want to see. Also comes with a very good complimentary breakfast. Upon arriving, we upgraded to a "junior suite" which was very spacious and a very cool with modern layout and feel. Staff was also friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again on our next trip back to Florence.
