“Charming boutique hotel in great location”
Reviewed 1 July 2013

This hotel is within historic center of Florence (pedestrian only area). This charming hotel has wonderful ambiance and we found staying there, enhanced our visit to Florence. We stayed for four nights in mid-June

The hotel's historic features are well accentuated with modern conveniences ( elevators and a/c) and clean modern bathrooms. We spent our first night in a large room with fresco ceiling that was spacious and on the south side of the hotel ( not on Porta Rossa itself). We had read/ were aware of the street noise complaints from other tripadvisor reviewers - these stem from the old windows and casing. This room was quiet however, the A/c stopped working during the night.

We reported the a/c problem the following morning. After a day out sightseeing, we returned to find the a/c was still not working in our room. While the front desk mgr offered to send someone to look into the problem again, we didnt want to chance another a/c outage during the heatwave. We asked for another room, and as it was the weekend, and the hotel full, we were upgraded to a jr suite, facing Porta Rossa on the first floor just above the lobby. The room and bathroom were clean a nicely appointed with very high ceilings. But regular street noices ( including street cleaning machines in the am etc) could easily be heard. We had ear plugs and used them for the remaining nights and didnt find it a problem.

The hotel itself is in a very safe area and well maintained. The front desk was helpful. We found the beds comfortable. The wi-fi connection was generally ok, but some delays.

While there is no attached garage to the hotel, they have a valet/ car park service that we used that worked well.

Overall, based on price, location and ambiance we would recommend this hotel for your stay in Florence.

This is a beautifully designed hotel (ultra modern rooms in historic building) in a perfect location in Florence, within walking distance to all major sights and in a charming neighborhood. Valentina and Elia at the front desk were incredibly friendly and made sure we had 2 lovely deluxe rooms. Our room, 220, had a great view of the piazza and the most luxurious of bathrooms. The only quibble one may have with this hotel is that the windows are not as tightly sealed as they could be and on noisy nights one hears the street. But it's Italy and this is bound to be the case. I highly recommend this hotel and think that in a city of super-expensive but disappointing hotels this one is a gem.

Room Tip: Room 220 was gorgeous and with a lovely view of the piazza

What a great location! Easy walking distance to down town, the river and galleries, very close to the high end shopping area too.
Very welcoming and friendly staff, although our room was not ready upon arrival. Breakfast was adequate with great coffee.
Large rooms, and new baths all very clean!

Excellent hotel, clean, central location, walking distance for everything you need.well furnished, good size room, classic reception areas, modern bedroom. Good continental breakfast. Would recommend for couples.
we flew into Pisa and caught the coach ( only 10 euros per person for an open return ticket) from the airport to Florence train station. Much more frequent than the trains and great scenery.

Awesome central location, walking distance from the bus and train stations and all the major sights, not to mention the shopping locations.

This is my new default choice for a hotel in Florence. I love the old building and the beautiful lobby not to mention a very good hearty delicious breakfast provided every morning.

Room is perhaps a little simple compared to the public areas decor but still very tasteful and comfortable.

I can't complain about the look of this hotel, or the cleanliness, but it was a little too busy and loud. It is in the center of everything in Florence, but that comes with the price of a noisy, busy street... down the street from a night club. The Internet in the hotel was great, and the included breakfast was good. Next time, I would definitely find something south of the river.

The location of the hotel is about 10 minutes taxi ride from the train station. Just minutes to the main tourist attractions. We were upgraded, so the room was much larger than expected on the 2nd floor. Very clean, with a compact, though not small bathroom. The downside to this hotel as mentioned in a few other reviews is noise at night. We were woken on 2/3 evenings by loud groups talking, yelling, whistling in the street. Even with our shutters closed, it was still quite loud until about 3am in the morning. But it's always a possible trade off for location in such cities. We stayed a Friday and Saturday so perhaps it's quieter during the week. The breakfast buffet is a good, solid selection.

Room Tip: Request a room facing not facing Porta Rossa St and high as possible.
