Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in July 2014. As mentioned in the other reviews here, the location is very good and the rooms are well-appointed. Service was friendly but not effusively so. Breakfast was average with a fair selection, but they would frequently run out of fruit.

There were a couple of minor drawbacks… First, the street noise can get a bit loud due to the thin windows. We were on the 2nd floor and it would get quite noisy. Ask for a room on a higher floor so as to avoid this scenario. Second, the wifi is pretty atrocious. The service went completely down for 2 nights of our stay. I have read other reviews here that also mention the poor wifi service. This seems to be a pervasive problem at this hotel and it makes me wonder why action hasn’t been taken to put in a long-term fix. In this day and age, this should be a relatively easy solution that can only enhance the experience of future guests.

Overall, a good hotel but just shy of meeting expectations of a “luxury” stay.

Room Tip: Choose a room on a higher floor or away from the main street.

Charming hotel in the heart of the city. We had no problems at all, the place was beautifully decorated and had very comfortable beds. We were upgraded to bigger room. It def made our experience in florence 10 times better!

We stayed in this hotel in early August 2014. The staff was very professional, friendly and helpful. They recommended great restaurants in the area and called to make our reservations. Our room was located in the back of the hotel and every evening, when we opened our windows we heard beautiful music played by a flute player who was in a nearby piazza. The room and bathroom were spacious, clean and modern. The only negative was the elevator was small. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is in a great central location (next to Ponte S. Trinitas) in being minutes away from the major sights (Duomo/ Ponte Vecchio) as well as the shopping streets (Via Tornabuoni). The Front Desk was poilte and helpful and the room was modern, spacious clean and the bed very comfortable. The room had clean modern look which we loved - quite spacious it may have been newly renovated yet the hotel building and lobby itself maintained its old world charm. The bed was incredibly comfortable and so quiet, we slept very well each night. The only very slight qualification were that (i) the toilet and shower room had very little space to place your toiletries and there were no racks or hooks to hang your clothes at all and (ii) the room only had Italian style wall outlets and so you had better had brought your universal adaptor if you want to charge your phone or Ipad. The Front Desk ran out of adaptors but they suggested I charge my IPhone to the wall-mounted TV's USB outlet which worked well - that was a great tip.

Also, there was an old vintage "Narnia" style cupboard in the room with which to hang your clothes but there was so little space because it was stuffed with a mini fridge and safe; an old style key with which to open and lock the cupboard was very tricky to use. Apart from these very minor caveats, everything else was superb and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade with a smile: especially if you had stayed in a NH hotel before.

This was our first time in Florence and we chose to stay in NH Porta Rossa as it is in the heart of the city. The hotel was very busy and I felt there should have been more staff on at breakfast and at reception.
I liked our room on the first floor but unfortunately there was a problem with the air conditioning and we had water dripping on the floor late one evening. I was not happy with the response as there was no one there able to rectify the problem and the hotel was full so we had to stay in the room until the next day. I will not choose to stay here again even though we were upgraded to a very nice suite on the fourth floor.

This hotel is fabulous! Not only is it the perfect location.....within walking distance of so many of the sights and in the middle of great shopping, but the hotel is just so cute and charming. When we arrived, we upgraded to a suite. It was the best thing we did. Our room was huge with a king sized bed and sitting area. The bathrooms were modern, updated and clean. Front desk staff were friendly and so very helpful. There is also a breakfast, which we opted not to take, but it looked good. Instead, we chose to sit outside at a cafe and enjoy our espresso and pastry. I can't say enough good things about Porta Rossa. It's the perfect boutique hotel right in the middle of Florence.

Couldn't be located any better for someone who will be walking around Florence. Enough said.
But the staff was so helpful. Ana!! Front desk. So wonderful with reservations and directing us everywhere. If they didn't know they would do research for us. The guys at the bar were so cordial. A very old hotel but very well preserved. Our room was surprisingly big considering we were in Europe. A different kind of approach to the bathroom but it worked. TV could have been larger given where the bed was and some of the furniture was less than perfect but in general, wonderful. Loved it and would go back.
