Excellent Hotel and an amazing experience. Don't be fooled by the number of reviews. The hotel just opened this year so i don't think enough people had a chance to review it yet.

It is new, super clean, and has a fantastic architecture. Our room was beautiful and extremely comfortable. The staff is amazing. We walked into this hotel off the street looking for alternate accommodations as we had come from another awful hotel not far from this one which we had pre-booked. We met Elisa who did everything in her power to accommodate us in short notice. Knowing our situation with the other hotel she showed us a room prior to booking to ensure we were going to be happy in the NH Porta Rossa. The result was an incredible stay in Florence.

The hotel is in a great location in the heart of the city. It is located within a 5 minute walk to 'Il Duomo' and around the corner from Ponte Vecchio. It is also surrounded by designer shops so it's great for shopping if that's what you are looking for. Breakfast was amazing. Lots of choice and great food. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to enjoy Florence. It is worth every penny to stay here.

In our humble opinion this was the best hotel we have ever stayed at.

We chose a twin superior room, (with smoking allowed). The room was spacious, well decorated and spotlessly clean with a very large, shuttered window that opened onto views of the street opposite... wardrobe and drawer space was adequate. We had a large, clean, fully-tiled shower room, (no bath) with a window that opened. Breakfast offers a wide selection of food typical of both British and Continental cuisine. Restaurants, major shopping areas and must-see tourist venues are on the doorstep. Staff are very friendly, efficient and knowledgeable about the area.

I booked this hotel on the strength of it being a chain hotel (strange I know but some 'independent' hotels in France and Italy leave a lot to be desired!) and recently rennovated. It is also right among the Old Town attractions, almost all within easy walking distance. We went during the August bank holiday weekend and accordingly got a 'half price' room rate as this is the Italian low season (in the cities anyway). Even so, it was still 124€ per night B&B which may be reasonable for Central Florence but is still at the upper range of my typical budget.

We had a standard room (all that was available under the promotion) and it was reasonably sized and pretty clean. There were shutters which pretty much blacked out all the light so quite a good sleep. My only minor gripe was there was no bath tub, although I appreciate this is the modern way. Also no tea/coffee making facilities, as common on the continent. Other than that, a very nice 4* room. (Although the building and the marble corridors are even nicer!)

Service seemed pretty efficient but we had little cause to bother the staff. The breakfast was of good quality (included in our rate) and it seemed to be a reasonably sized room for the size of the (small) hotel. There is a tower built into the hotel which allegedly offers good views, our room key didn't offer access however and we weren't sufficiently put out to request access from reception.

The best part about this hotel (in my opinion) aside from the classy refurbishment is the excellent location, a short walk away from the famous Duomo, the Academy, etc., etc. on the v. Porta Rossa. It is also two minutes away from the famous Boar. And yes, we did rub his nose. :) There are lots of nice places to stop for a meal or an ice cream but prices seemed to fluctuate pretty fiercely. I'd recommend eating out in Florence as much as possible to people watch and enjoy the scenery!

I'd definitely recommend the NH Porta Rossa but don't do what we did and walk past it because the red doors were open!

This is a very good class of hotel. very clean and of a high standard for the cost. But unfortunately while staying there someone went into our case and took some chocolates. This seems like a very strange thing to do and when I reported it, the manager was very helpful but obviously did not believe me and asked me to re check my luggage. Later in the day we found two bags of very nice chocs in our room which was obviously as compensation. What bothered us was that someone had been in our cases, so while I would recommend this hotel in every other way I would suggest that you keep your cases locked.

- perfect location,
- the design reminds the grey colour of pietra serena of Florence (and the colours of Michelangelo's Medici Chapel), and combine this renaissance outlook with the historicism of A Room With a View
- very helpful staff
- the breakfast sometimes a little bit hectic
- very good bed
- Al Jazeera-chanel
- but in the rooms have to pay for the wifi (in the lobby free-wifi for half an hour, but very slow)

We stayed 2nights in the Porta Rossa Hotel, in a Deluxe room and it was just perfect. Room was clean, well decorated mix the old features with modern decoration was just superb.
Location is PERFECT, even arriving by car (policemen were helpfull and let us drive in walking street!), expensive parking but worth it.
At the reception, a french receptionnist welcome us and give us lot of advice to eat, to visit, .... We booked the restaurants & tratoria he recommanded and were really happy with these 3 places (next to the hotel lunch menu at 5,5euro per personne for pasta, 1/2litre of water and a coffee, in Firenze!!!).
Breakfast was nice, just need to order your coffee before starting breakfast as it takes around 10minutes to have it but it looks like this is everywhere in Italy. On the second day, fresh fruits were very limited, but when we asked, the waiter brought a plate of fresh fruit for us. All in all this is THE perfect place to visit Firenze

It was my first arrival to Florence. Has stopped in this hotel. Has arrived early in the morning but at once have occupied in spacious number. A bed with a canopy. The big shower cabin. The view from the window on a small small street less was pleasant. Style of hotel - antique Italy and high ceilings. The big spaces. The Internet paid and very tasty breakfasts. A choice of meal big. It is located in the center and to come into hotel it is possible from two streets. Close from the well-known bridges. The hotel has helped to take pleasure our Florence!
