Stayed here for the first weekend in February. It was a relatively easy walk from the train station and just steps from the Duomo. Julia was very helpful and enthusiastic upon check-in and even offered a complimentary upgrade. This was my first time to Florence and I felt immediately welcomed. The room was well-appointed- Towel warmer, Italian soaps and bath products. Loved my room that overlooked the courtyard. With the windows open you can hear the church bells. Truly Charming! Breakfast was wonderful, fresh breads, yogurt, meats, cheeses and fruit. Would recommend to anyone seeking a boutique hotel experience. Hope to be back again soon!

Room Tip: I was in 112. Overlooked courtyard. Pink walls and beautiful carved ceilings!

Il Guelfo Bianco is in one of the best locations you can be as a tourist in Florence. You're only a few minutes walk from the Duomo and as the center of Florence is quite compact, everything can be reached by walking.

The hotel itself is in an older building that represents the local architecture. I found the layout of the hallways/stairs somewhat baffling, but it does add a certain charm to the experience. My room had very high ceilings and tiled floors. My only quip was that with the floors, it would have been nice to be given slippers (though slippers were provided the next day after I asked for them). The bathroom was in very good condition. Though it was compact, they managed to fit a bidet in there. The only issue I had with the bathroom was that there was very little counter space to put any toiletries.

The bed and bedding were comfortable and I slept well, however the first morning there I think one of the staff was moving something in the hallway at around 5:00, and it was quite noisy and disturbing.

Breakfast at the hotel is fantastic: very good selection of breads/pastries, cold cuts, fruits etc. There are no hot options, but everything else is so good you won't miss it. Coffee is very good and a variety of espresso-based drinks or made to order.

Service at the hotel was very good. Not always the most cheerful, but certainly helpful in providing directions, making reservations, and even shipping a package for me.

Overall I would certainly stay again at Il Guelfo Bianco. It is a great value if you're willing to forego amenities such as a spa and a fitness center.

Dear Cillierab,
first oall I wish to thank you for your review. Our hotel sometimes looks like a maze becasue its' housed in two late century palaces but as you write it could be also a plus and many customers love to walk around the floors to discover the small steps and hallways all around.
Our hotel is a three star ù, well renewed and with lots of charme but it's still a three star so ameties lik slippers are not required. I understandthat maybe people like to find many free ameties in the hotel but trust me we offer already many things free of charge. We have just few rooms with wood floorif not all the rooms have carpets on the floor. Even the spa of a finess center it coudl be a great ameties but in old palaces like ours it will be not easy at all to find space for it. Maybe one day we can think about to add it but at the moment we cannot make plans for it. Now our focus is to improve the quality of the rooms and drawing room and we worl hard every day to guarantee to all of our customers a lovely stay. However we never advertized we have a spa or a fitness center so I am sure if people really need an hotel with them they will book a different hotel. Even if ...walking up and down our maze it could be a good exercise for everybody . Just to avoid misunderstandings...we do have an elevator to get all floors.
I really hope to welcoem you here again.
Best regards.

Every staff member we came across during our stay was extremely pleasant and helpful. Fantastic service and great location. Only less than 10 mins walk to the duomo and half an hour walk across the river to piazza Michelangelo. Rooms were clean and food quality was excellent.

We had been recommended this hotel by a friend and were extremely happy. The location is great and the staff very helpful with information and gave us names of really great places to go for dinner. It is so traditional and very 'Italian' to give you a unique experience as a change from a modern hotel. The beds are comfortable, it is clean and the deluxe room we had was very spacious. I will be recommending it to anyone I know going to Florence in the future.

Found this hotel on trip advisor, and booked it for its good reviews and cheap price. It was the best decision. We arrived by train and walked 8 minutes to the hotel, very close to the train station. After we checked in we went outside to find out how close we were to everything. Literally it was a 5 minute walk to all the main attractions. To the Uffizi, Accademia, Duomo, fountain of neptune... they were all a 5-10 minute walk. It was a wonderful location. The hotel itself was very pleasant. The room had a unique taste, and the service was excellent. I have already recommended this hotel to friends who will be going to florence shortly.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our 4th Floor, Double Executive room (King bed) was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and modern with tub/shower, bidet and heated towel racks. Our room faced the street, which was lively in the evening but quiet by bedtime. Our sons' Twin Executive room was smaller and faced away from the street. The breakfast had a larger selection than other places we stayed -- croissants, tarts, muesli, juices, boiled eggs, prosciutto, cheeses, fresh fruit, and excellent cappuccino. The location is very convenient, with the Accademia Gallery, Duomo, and many restaurants close by. There also are shops up and down the street for sandwiches, pizza, gelato, and wine. We walked to and from the train station with a large roller suitcase, which was fine for us because it's less complicated, but it is somewhat challenging (and noisy) over cobblestones.

This hotel is indeed located in a very convenient part of the city. About 10-15 minutes walk from the main train station and 3-5 minutes to the Duomo. The front desk staff were all friendly and willing to help. Room size was decent and room decor was average (not that attractive maybe this is just personal taste). Breakfast offering was basic with limited choices.
