“Central location : Perfecto!”
Reviewed 10 March 2014 via mobile

The hotel was smack in the centre of town. It was just minutes away from the Duomo, the Academia, the Palazzo Vecchio, San Lorenzo market, and all the good food places that the front desk will recommend if you ask. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children. The restaurants recommended were always where the Italians dined, so we felt immersed in the culture.

The hotel breakfast was great! Yummy organic blueberry jam that my husband could not get enough of. The staff on duty went out of their way to do faces with cream on the children's hot chocolate.

We stayed in their one and only apartment for a week. Heating was great. The downside about the apartment is, while you have a kitchen, you cannot cook in it. So we bought back pizza and pasta on nights we were too tired to go out for dinner. There is a washing machine in the bathroom, but bring your own detergent.

The front desk will book your restaurants for you. We did a bike tour through them. The guide Filippo (hope I spelt his name right) was very knowledgeable and had recommended a shorter tour rather than a half day as my 8 year old would not have the stamina on the cobble stone streets. We would love to go back one day to do a Tuscan country day tour with him. We ended our bike tour with a lunch at the hotel's bistro. Fantastic food and we loved their organic wine (produced at the owners' farm). We bought a few bottles for our friends who all loved it.

That said, I will not hesitate to recommend this hotel to families and will choose to stay there again when I visit Florence.

Dear MattAlexS,

thanks for your review we are really happy you spent a lovely week here with us.
Me and all the staff we are glad you appreciated your stay and you will recommend our hotel.
Regarding the apartment I just need to point out that we always write that there is also a kitchenette but it is not available for cooking but just to warm up some food or to boil water for tea (in fact the kitchenette is equipped with a kettle, some cups, dishes and glasses) . As you write in the bathroom there is also a washing machine and usually our chambermaid give to the customer the soap on request but maybe it coudl be a good idea to leave on it some degergent so it will be easier for the guests.

Than I would like to THANK YOU al of you who write reviews about our hotel. WWe do not answer to all of them but Bue sure we read of all the them very carefully and we do appreciate all the suggestions. A big hug to every body :-)

Best regards and you will be always the welcome if you decide to come back to visit us.
Take care
Antonella Rocchini

The hotel is conveniently located with about a 10 minute walk to the train station in and out of Florence. It's also on the main road that leads to the Doumo, Uffizi Gallery, and Galleria dell'Accademia. The breakfast and service was great.

Our room in particular faced the main street which caused it to be a bit noisy on a saturday night. It coincided with the beginning of a new school semester as well so it may have been more than usual with new students arriving. We also had a light that was faulty and very noisy. I would still recommend the hotel though!

Yesterday I returned from my trip in Florence. Since it was a business trip, I didn't get to choose hotel, but I was very happy when I checked-in Hotel Il Guelfo Bianco. First of all - like many buildings in Florence, it's a hotel, that is definitely old, but freshened up, without lossing its historical character. The high wooden ceiling, decorated with wooden or some other material flowers, big bed, vintage table, chair, built-in closet, a bathroom with very tasty white and blue tailes, yet quite modern, etc.. and the most important of all - my room was facing the inneryard, so it was very quite and I could sleep without interraption. Also the breakfast hall was very cute, yet small, only the food selection could be more diverse. And since the hotel is very near Il Duomo, it's also the great location for turistic visit. All of the staff was also very nice, especially the receptionists. I loved it and I reccomend it.

Room Tip: The inneryards rooms are quieter.

Excellent hotel in a great location only 5 minutes from the Duomo and around the corner from the Academia. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is a bit funky and has a few steps on each floor and also within the rooms so be wary if you have limited mobility. I had a room facing the internal courtyard which was very quiet. Rooms are comfortable with good amenities like a electrical charger box which was really useful for charging any appliance. Wi-fi is also free and was pretty strong most of the time. In room safe and good size bathroom with nice toiletries. The breakfast spread is a little limited but the produce is fresh and coffee is made to order. Overall I'd happily stay here again.

From booking to staying the hotel staff were excellent, they kept in touch daily about the booking and helped with suggestions of things to do even before we arrived. On arrival and during the stay the staff were happy to help in every way.

Room Tip: Just ask Antonella anything and she will answer, quickly and efficiently.

My wife and I stayed for a week and loved the location and the room. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I will stay here again and recommend it to colleauges. We loved walking around Florence and then resting in the covered court-yard.

Room Tip: Looking at the floor plan of the first floor we had a medium sized room and it was smaller than a No...
