This is a lovely hotel with a wonderful location in the center of Florence. You are within walking distance of most major museums, churches, restaurants and shopping. Hotel is clean and well run. Staff is very helpful. Lovely breakfast each morning. We also enjoyed their little bistro for a bite to eat or a glass of wine. We truly enjoyed our stay. We would go back and stay again.

Room Tip: Room off the street advisable if you want to open your windows and get any sleep. Street rooms are...

We stayed two nights and loved this hotel. We were able to check in very early and the room was large with a view of the Duomo! Street noise was loud but when you closed the windows you couldn't hear a thing. Breakfast was what we expected, front desk attendants were friendly and helpful, and the location was great. The bathroom in our room was on the small side but it didn't bother us. Very clean and very comfortable bed. We were sad to leave!

Room Tip: We were on the 4th floor on the street side, great view of the Duomo and noise was no problem if you...

We stayed in Florence for 3 nights end of March beginning of April. We had three rooms on a surprise Birthday trio for my wife. We were greeted very warmly and straight away went into their garden and enjoyed a glass of prosecco and some delicious Italian food in the warm spring sunshine. This is a charming city center hotel within easy walk of the historical sights of the city, it is a quaint old building with nicely furnished large rooms. My only criticism was the very weak water pressure in the shower! Perhaps this can be fixed in room 225!
We all enjoyed our stay here, the hotel offers good value

Dear Stevie99,

thanks very much for your review. we are very happy you had a enjoyable stay with us. I do remember you and your party, very nice and friendly people!
Regarding the pressure in the shower maybe it seems to be weak because it is a hydromassage shower and so the water comes out also from the sides when the hydromassage is on. However we will check it once again just to be sure everything is working in the right way.

Hoping for welcoming you once again I remain with my best regards.

This lovely hotel is a perfect destination in itself, and is ideally located within very easy walking distance from all the many legendary attractions in the beautiful city of Florence.

Our room (no. 448) was in the hotel's 'superior' category and had a very comfortable bed, with linens changed every day. The room had plenty of space and nice views over the rooftops to the magnificent Duomo.

Breakfast was fresh and plentiful, and service was professional and welcoming, with expert advice available on where to eat, calling taxis when required.

My partner and I went to Italy in March 2014. We stayed in Milan, Venice and Florence. After looking at various reviews for hotels in each of the cities for Florence we decided on Il Guelfo Bianco. Boy were we glad we did! From the moment we arrived at the hotel (which is in a very safe area convenient to the train station and also public buses) we knew we were happy with our selection. This is a very unique hotel in that every room is decorated differently and the entire hotel (rooms and public areas) are decorated lovingly with piece of art that are displayed from the collection of the family who owns the hotel.
Our room overlooked and internal garden (The garden did not belong to the hotel but the hotel was fortunate in that its back side fronted on the garden owned by individual homeowners). It was lovely to wake up to the sound of bells and "Italian birds" singing up a storm. During our stay the weather was perfect - every day was Sunny and in the 60's.
This hotel gives a voucher/coupon for a free arrival drink and also a plate of food. We used the voucher our first night. One of the employees (Federico) prepared the food and you could tell he enjoyed his job. My partner commented on how lovingly he put the food plate together. He was friendly, kind and we have no doubt that the hotel knows what a gem them have in him as an employee. He also served the breakfast (most mornings we were there and which was included with the price of the hotel) and every cappuccino I had was "hand decorated" by him with a design on the top.
Practically every employee at this hotel was friendly and kind. It truly is a place you can come to and be greeted like friends and made to feel "at home".
The front desk people whom we had the pleasure of getting to know and deal with were Giulia and Antonella. (I hope I didn't misspell their names). Giulia was especially nice to talk with and she had many wonderful suggestions about places to see and restaurants to eat out. One of the nicest meals we had was at the hotels own restaurant (We had lunch there one day). The food in the restaurant is really excellent and its a small but well decorated restaurant with a good choice of menu.
WE asked innumerous questions of Giulia and she always had a smile and the patience of a saint (which was not easy with me asking a lot of things).
As it is I gave this review the highest rating I could on Trip Advisor. If I could have I would have given it a 10 (on a scale of 1 - 10). I cannot emphasize enough how great this place is or how wonderful the staff is. When it came time to leave we didn't want to go. They helped make our stay in Florence memorable with their kindnesses and we will remember them fondly when we recall our stay at the Il Guelfo Bianco.

Ciao'
Ed and Paul

P.S. Thanks in particular to everyone for commenting and putting up with Pauls' attempt to speak Italian. He practiced very hard in the U.S. before we arrived and Giulia and Federico in particular were so nice to comment on how well he was doing in his attempt to learn a "crash course in Italian".

Our recent stay at the Il Guelfo Bianco was a wonderful experience. The hotel is very well located. All the main Florence activities are within easy walking distance. The rooms were very quite and spacious. The shower was the largest we had in our 16 days in Italy! The hotel was very clean, which isn't always the case for older hotels.
The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Julia was extremely helpful in her suggestions for food, gelato, and directions.
I would not hesitate recommending this hotel for anyone staying in Florence.

We recently stayed a couple of nights in Il Guelfo Bianco. When we arrived we were welcomed "with open arms" and we already felt like valued customers! We have been to Florence many times and this is the first time we have stayed here (I could kick myself for some of the other duff hotels that I had booked into in the past!). The room itself was immaculate, very quaint and had a lovely terrace (which we requested - we always do anywhere we stay but rarely get!). The style of the room was very typical of what you would expect in a city such as Florence. When guests arrive they are offered a complimentary drink and snack at the hotel's neighbouring bistro "Il Desco". This was a welcome change to the quite often stuffy attitude from "old men in suits" at some hotel receptions! The snack and prosecco we had at Il Desco was fantastic. Unfortunately, as we were only staying for a couple of days, we did'nt get the chance to eat a proper meal there (but I know that it would have been good!). The staff were all extremely friendly throughout the stay. The breakfast was perfect and the quality of the ingredients were extremely top notch! The location of this hotel is excellent (just around the corner from the San Lorenzo market and very close to the major Florence sights (Duomo etc). I travel to Florence every year and I know where I will be staying!! I cannot recommend this hotel enough!
