My friend and I had rooms next to each other in the courtyard so overlooking the gorgeous fountain. The gardens were well kept and the smell of the roses was lovely. The hallway and building was beautiful. Both rooms were tasteful, white and clean, cotton bedding, very quiet and the air con worked well. The bathrooms were really smart. The staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel is just a few minutes walk from the galleries and great places to eat on the same road, very central and easy. I don't have breakfast so didn't try it but heard it was very good. It would have been great to have a mirror near to the plug so I could use my straighteners , a better steam iron in the ironing room and a bigger safe big enough to put a small laptop in would have been perfect but these are weeny things and the overall feel of the hotel was smart and calm. I had the most wonderful time there. Florence is all that I hoped for and more.

Lovely ,Quaint ,clean and quiet.Beautiful old palazzo with twentieth century updates which is a 10 minute walk to the duomo and center of town. Our room was on the second floor with doors opening to the common patio which was off the dining room. The grounds are beautiful meticulously kept, the bedding and linens were high end,the bathroom with a separate toilet and shower beautifully updated and a wonderful full breakfast with many options. The staff were kind ,professional and informative.Look no further for your stay in Firenze.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor that opens to the patio.

We were recommended this hotel by friends and we were not let down! It's a beautiful old building and the rooms are generous and very well appointed. The staff are great and the breakfast, terrace and gardens are all nice too. The location is fabulous with all the creature comforts. We will definitely be recommending this place to others.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel De Medici in Firenzi this past September 2013.

Needless to say we were enamored with this beautiful small hotel even before we arrived....
since it was where Michaelangelo apprenticed and was taught by Lorenzo De Medici in his sculptors school... after he left Ghirlandeo's apprenticeship in fresco painting.

When we arrived we were greeted with great warmth by the concierge and the entire staff at the front desk.

We were processed quickly and led to our room which had a view of the outdoor garden and
terrace area where breakfast was served each morning. Our room was austere, but quiet and very comfortable!

The breakfast at this hotel is very elaborate with offerings of eggs, cheeses,
fruits and jams, croissants, assorted breads and pastries. Of course there were
numerous machines running self serve where you created your own, cappuccino,
espresso, hot chocolate, cafe americano.

In addition they had a fresh orange juicing machine.

We were taken by the beautiful renovation of the interior and the acute attention
the restorers paid to the detail. The architects who restored and renovated this
ancient historic building made sure to maintain the architectural integrity originally
intended centuries before.

There are numerous sitting and reading rooms as well as meeting rooms.

There are computers with wi-fi and internet access to help your exploration
and navigation of Firenzi become easy and simple.

The hotel location is pretty close to the train station, and is only a few blocks
from the Academy of Art where the original "David" can be seen.

One will gasp in awe as the David appears before you, "perfect" and 40 tall.
This is one of the true wonders of the world and it is unfathomable that one
person (or even 20 people for that matter) could have sculpted this "perfectly
proportioned human statue" A truly mind-blowing visual experience.

We walked everywhere...to the Duomo, Campanille, Baptistry, Ponte Vecchio,
Uffizzi Gallery, Santo Cristo neighborhood and more. The distance to the
Ponte Vecchio was equivalent to a 10 block walk in NYC.

This a truly romantic city with the greatest art treasures in Italy.

We found Italian cafe life to be open and vibrant...very european...this culture
is in the streets where people love to socialize over drinks, campari, aperol aperitifs,
vino or espresso.

Finding the cafes, restaurants and night llfe was easy fun and convenient requiring
only an inquisitive mind and a love of exploration.

We truly loved our stay in Firenzi at this hotel.

CiaoCiao

We had a very special time at Hotel Orto de’Medici. We stayed for two weeks because we are artists and were involved in a printmaking workshop over the road as well as revisiting so much art in Florence. The garden of the hotel is very special – it was part of the Medici Sculpture Garden, where Michelangelo was an apprentice. From our balcony we could see the Duomo, Giotto’s campanile, San Marco, San Lorenzo…what a brilliant view! Brilliant location too – like a friendly Italian village but only a very short walk to the much more touristy centre of the city. The hotel staff were all very helpful and responsive. We were very comfortable and will certainly return.

Thank you all very much,

Dr Viv Martin and Dr Paul Martin

Room Tip: Great to have a room overlooking the garden, ideally with a balcony.

My boyfriend and I has this placed organised through a travel agent. We were in one of the older rooms which was a little small and the bed quite hard. We decided to upgrade which was an extra $40 Australian dollars per night - but it was definitely worth it. A much bigger room, bed was much better, bugger bathroom - everything was pretty much brand new. Our stay certainly jumped up a few notches from upgrading. The wifi signal is weak, however I have noticed this since Rome. Breakfast is very simple and does not have much variety. The only egg option is hard boiled. More healthy options would be better for someone like me, however that is just being picky. I always leave full after breakfast!. The staff are just lovely and always willing to help. The garden is beautiful when it is sunny. Really close to the city centre, 10 minute walk from the station and close to some great places to grab a bite! If you have the rooms on level 2, that's the room I would go for!
