“THE MUST in Florence”
Reviewed 18 February 2014

We had a fantastic sojourn in the Palazzo. Our absolute wonderful vast suite made our 5 days in Florence very relaxing. Reception staff were so friendly and helpful, which really made a difference.
Great breakfast, also for the very spoiled "us". Very good location,- all Florence within walking distance, no car needed.
The roof terrace with the bar and the all around view over Florence is probably one of the most beautiful we've ever seen. Our compliments to the bar-keeper for his drinks we enjoyed every evening at sunset.
Our upshot: the absolute necessity when you stay in Florence. You "dive" in an authentic ambiance of "Bella Italia" 15th century palazzo but with the amenities of the 21st century.
We'll come again and again!

Kind Guest,
Thank you so much for your nice words re Palazzo Magnani Feroni. It is magical: you enter the Palace and leave the 21st century out of the gate. As you, I enjoy our rooftop terrace and Emanuel’s great cocktails and our wine that are made in our country estate! I hope to meet you in person in the near future so ARRIVEDERCI!

I don't know where to begin with this amazing hotel - I mean palace.

Firstly, the room

We originally booked into a suite but were offered an upgrade to a "top luxury suite" for a small top-up. We stayed in Beatrice and it was the best room I have ever stayed in and worth every extra cent. We had a grand living room with beautiful furniture and decoration. The room was quiet and well heated, with a "waterfall" shower that I could have stayed in for a very, very long time! The bed was big and comfortable and the turn down service provided chocolates every day that I managed to hide from my boyfriend. We were also given a gift of hand made soaps, that we personally chose from a selection of different fragrances.

Check in

Was easy, hassle free and we were greeted by knowledgable and friendly staff

Breakfast

Wow, just...wow! We were served by a white gloved waiter in a room dominated by an astounding Morano glass chandelier. We had a selection of fruit juices, cheeses, meat, bacon, sausages, croissants, pastries, yoghurts...the list goes on. There was also a selection of hot dishes, available on request. We very frequently had 4 or 5 plates of food, finished by prosecco (well when in Rome, or Tuscany)

Extras

Every evening a selection of small snacks - bruschetta, crostini etc. were left out in the beautiful reception area, which were amazing following a long day of trekking across Florence and up various towers.

Each floor has a N'espresso machine with all the essentials for wonderful coffee in the room.

Bvlgari shower gels, lotions and soaps

The...THE roof terrace! The most amazing views across Florence, with space to sit and relax.

I really can't praise the hotel highly enough, it was difficult to leave, and pull ourselves away in the morning - even for the wonders and beauty of Florence. If I'm lucky enough to return anytime soon, it still won't be soon enough.

Hello and thank you for your kind words. Beatrice is truly a gem, I love it! We take great delight in our breakfast selection; our cook is very proud in what he makes, be it something simple or a bit more complex. When you decide to come back to visit us, make sure that the weather allows you to have your drinks up on the rooftop terrace, as you say, the sight is outstanding but with a drink in hand, it’s even better!
It was a true pleasure having you and hope to see you in a very near future so, ARRIVEDERCI!

Stayed between 1/21 - 1/24.2014:
My girlfriends and I are still creeped out after our three day stay in this hotel/palace, in one of the most beautiful city in Italy. Upon check in, we were given the Francesca suite, located right above the front desk. The room was dark and gloomy (NOTHING like the photos). The kitchen connects to the second bedroom in the very back. The lighting was extremely dim. We just didn't feel right so we called front desk requesting to change room. We didn't mind waiting an hour to get the new suite. As we were walking to the new suite, passed the front desk, we overheard the staff calling us "Prima Donnas". Wow! we were then charged for the breakfast we thought were included. We had an early tour that morning so we sat for 7minutes at the breakfast room, grabbed an apple pie and ate scrambled eggs. We were not told breakfast was not included in our suite (Carlotta) during check-in, but our girlfriend's suite (a smaller one) had their breakfast included. Made no sense. During check-out, the manager, Francesca, didn't ask how our stay was and if we enjoyed Florence. Needless to say, Palazzo Magnani Feroni was an interesting part to our Europe trip, the palace is very clean, the butlers were well-mannered, the 'lift' was the highlight for us (nice and spooky) but there were no service on the terrace at night as described and the attitude from the manager...no bueno!

Room Tip: Don't book the Francesca suite.

Dear Madam,
It is with great sorrow that we read that your stay with us was not as successful as you hoped.
After having read you feedback thoroughly, we hope that you will do us the kindness of taking note of the following points that we trust will be of some help to explain what seems to have been a misunderstanding….
I would like to start by clarifying the fact that when you booked your stay with us, you did not opt for breakfast to be included while the friends you mentioned that had the other room, had opted for breakfast to be included. In both cases this was clearly stated on your-their voucher. Furthermore at check-in, it was confirmed that your reservation included only your stay. You however, went to the breakfast room the next day and signed the presence sheet where the cost is clearly stated.
Upon your arrival you were given the Francesca Suite: as you were a party of 3 ladies travelling together we thought you would be happy to have a large 2 room suite. You requested to change rooms explaining to our staff that the suite given was too large and that you preferred sleeping all together in one room. We were pleased to oblige and as soon as the suite Carlotta was available the same day you arrived, we transferred you as per your request.
Last but not least, we have a very professional staff that has worked with us for many years thus I exclude in the most determined way that anybody at Palazzo Magnani Feroni could have used such terms as you state. We take pride in the many feedbacks that refer to our staff as being exceptional and gracious.
Please accept our Warmest Regards.

Having just returned from a three day break, I had to write a review on this stunning hotel
I think I can say, this is one of the finest hotels in one of the finest cities in the world. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were really treated well, our rooms were fabulous, mine opened onto the courtyard garden and was simply devine, all the little extra touches, chocolates on your turned down bed, a choice of complimentary soaps the stunning roof too terrace made for two very happy travellers. Put simply of you go to Florence, which you should, stay here you'll have no regrets,
One word of advice, take a detailed road map with you, the guide book maps can lead you astray, although it doesn't really matter as you'll stumble upon plaza after plaza of joy

How pleased we are to read your feedback. We are thrilled that your 3 day stay in Florence was a success and that part of this was also due to Palazzo Magnani Feroni!
You are correct, the streets in Florence can get a bit tricky as they are narrow and must of them one way……. Luckily Palazzo Magnani Feroni is in the historical center and does have parking so you need to drop off the car and forget about it for your entire stay! It was a true pleasure having you and thanks again for your kind words!
A PRESTO!

Just got back from a fabulous weekend break and can't explain how lovely this hotel is. The roof terrace in particular was breath taking and the rooms were large but homely. The little extras were wonderful from the choice of handmade soaps to complementary teas coffees
biscuits and chocolates. I would defiantly go back and recommend to anyone. One other point to note is you don't have to travel into town for a great meal as there are a couple of great restaurants just seconds from the hotel.

Most incredible place we have ever stayed. The palace is spectacular; atmospheric, luxurious and spooky, with unexpected discoveries around every corner...a working antique elevator, incredible carved doors of ridiculous proportions, huge stone steps, marble carved coats of arms. It is truly a history lover's dream hotel.

The service is impeccable - nothing was too much for Mattia, Francesca and Annalisa, their incredible attention to detail made our stay really special - even leaving a bottle of Prosecco and a Happy Birthday message in our room for my partner's 40th - without us having mentioned that it was his birthday! The waiter at breakfast and in the rooftop bar (whose names we did not catch) were also extremely friendly, welcoming and professional.

Our room - Lucrezia - was beautiful, all the amenities you would expect (plus a few more), beautiful doors opening onto the internal courtyard, enormous bed, vaulted ceilings. The bathroom looks a little simple at first glance (compared to the splender of the rest of the room), but the shower is very powerful, towels beautifully soft and the Bulgari toiletries and choice of handmade soaps are a perfect touch.

Breakfast was fine - if we had one comment then perhaps a few more 'to order' options - perhaps pancakes, bagels or some veggie omelette options, but we ate well each day and food was great quality and beautifully presented. The rooftop bar has spectacular views and is very well heated - we were comfortable sitting up there in the middle of January - do not miss opportunity to have a drink up there!

The location of the hotel couldn't be better - it was a 10min walk from the station when we arrived and 15mins by taxi to the airport on departure, 10min walk to the Ponte Vecchio and main tourist attractions. We would recommend Il Santo Bevitore restaurant in the same street and the adjoining Il Santino bar, Osteria del Cinghiale Bianco a little further down and Piazza Santo Spirito, 5mins walk from the hotel, for a choice of cool little bars.

Will finish now - but in summary, it's very simple, if you have the opportunity to stay in this outstanding hotel then you would be crazy not to do it! We will be back! Thank you Palazzo Magnani Feroni for an unforgettable experience, we were talking about our favourite things all the way back to London!

Room Tip: Lucrezia - luxury suite with private access to the beautiful inner courtyard, very quiet, stunningly...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Palazzo Magnani Feroni is an historical home that for over five hundred years has been at the centre of Florence's aristocratic life: one of the oldest dwellings in the San Frediano neighbourhood, it has stood as an important symbol of the city's history and its artistic value. The class of this elegant renaissance palace, evident upon entering, finds its maximum expression in the sumptuous suites and the luxurious hospitality quarters, furnished with candelabra, statues, paintings and frescoes form the '500. Each suite reflects the refinement of the Renaissance style, with the subtle combination of comfort and modern technology and decorated with tasteful antique furnishings and materials originating from the owners' ancestors' antique collection. Spanning between 80- and 120-square meters (860- and 1300- square feet) in size, the 13 suites each comprise a large living room, bedroom(s) and master bathroom(s). Each includes all amenities expected of a five-star luxury hotel, including stereo, satellite television in both the living room and bedroom, internet port and self-regulating air conditioning units. An architectural jewel of the 16th century, the Palazzo Magnani Feroni belongs to the National Register of Historical Monuments of the State of Italy. Detail and ornamentation characterises the building throughout, surprising the wanderer with frescoes, vaulted ceilings and intricate wood-carvings. The Renaissance decor prevails in this palace of traditional Florentine lay-out. Breakfast, for instance, is served in a 160-square meter salon with hand-crafted wood ceilings illuminated by a large original Murano chandelier. In the winter evenings, this salon serves as an intimate, candle-lit Bar, accessible to Palazzo guests and their friends only. The same rules are applicable to the adjoining Billiard Room, as well as to the In-House Gym, so as to assure the guests with absolute privacy. The beautiful Roof-Top Terrace offers a breathtaking view of the city and houses the Palazzo Bar as soon as the temperature permits. Providing 24-hour Reception and Service, the Palazzo Magnani Feroni is run by a staff dedicated to meet your every need with efficiency and discretion, both prior, during and following your stay. Services include reservations to exclusive restaurants, recommendations of typical local eateries and trattorias, coordination of privileged entrance to the city's museums, airport / train station pick-up, private shopping tours, visits to the Ferrari Museum and private, chauffeured excursions to the beautiful Chianti valley. Also, Palazzo guests choose from a selection of CDs, DVD films and soap fragrances for their suite, as well as benefit from private Guides to shopping and restaurants off the beaten path, personally written by the owners of the Palazzo for an "insider's view" of Florence. ... more   less
