Reviewed 13 November 2009

We have just returned from a wonderful three night stay at this elegant hotel situated right in the heart of Florence so convenient for all the sights. The staff were both courteous and friendly. Our suite was very comfortable but it suffered a little from traffic noise. Although the breakfast was good we did feel that cooked alternatives should have been included at no extra cost.

However, if we returned to Florence we would have no hesitation in returning to the Palazzo Magnani Feroni.

My wife and I had the privilege of staying at the Palzazzo Magnani Feroni for the week of October 5, 2009. The Palazzo and its staff exceeded every expectation. I had made arrangements prior to our arrival for sunflowers and Prosecco to be delivered to our suite. Both were there to welcome us upon our arrival. The staff quietly, efficiently and expertly attends to every detail and request. Our stay could not have been more restful or perfect. We have stayed in Florence on many occasions but this was our first stay at the Palazzo...we have found a new home in Florence. The Palazzo surpasses every hotel experience we have had in Florence both in terms of the beauty of the hotel and the professionalism of the staff. You should not miss the elegance and charm of Palazzo Magnani Feroni!!!

Dear Palazzo Magnani Feroni Guests,
thank you for your kind words in describing the Palazzo to the community. We are really honored to know how much you appreciated your stay and the service.
We like to organize actually very much special requests and arrangements for the Palace guests prior to arrival, because we think as well that this gives even more the feeling of "beeing in a home far from home".
It would be lovely to know you back at your new Florence home anytime, please feel always free to contact us for anything that you may need,
best regards from Florence,

This was the second stop on our honeymoon. The staff greeted us at the door, had upgraged us to a larger suite, (with a balcony large enough for us to sit on and have our morning coffee), and we can not say enough about the staff. They were excellent!! Daniel (at the front desk), and Manual (at the rooftop bar) anticipated our every need. To tell the truth all of the staff was great. Room service was the fastest we have EVER had.
The breakfast spread was great, the rooftop bar had a wonderful view, the bathroom was large with every amenity, our suite was large and comfortable, and you felt like royalty, staying in a former palazzo. I highly recommend for anyone looking for something different. You felt special every time you stepped into the hotel.

We stayed at Palazzo Magnani Feroni for 2 nights in March. It is very impressive with old world charm located in the heart of historic Florence. We stayed in a beautiful suite, breakfast was excellent(though had extra charge for hot breakfast which was a bit annoying), staff courteous and happy to assist with restaurant bookings and recommedations around florence. This hotel is not cheap, but then it is not a standard hotel ! If you are looking for a tranquil, romantic boutique hotel in the heart of florence, this is the one for you !

Dear Palazzo Magnani Feroni Guest,
we thank you very much for your kind comment about the Palace on the community.
With great pleasure we read that you enjoyed your stay with us.
Concerning the extra cost for the cooked eggs for breakfast, I would like to give you our reasons for this. Since our egg menù is quiet large and we offer many different egg dishes, each egg dish order is freshly made at the moment. We think that the fresh prepared eggs according to our guests preferred choice make a small difference in price (Euro 5 per dish) but might be much more enjoyable.
Please understand that our suites rates, that compared to other luxury property suite rates are very fair and competitive and include already tax and breakfast. Only on some websites there is the option to book a suite with or without breakfast, but generally all our rates include already these services.
I really hope that this short desciption of our policy will be appreciated, hopefully to welcome you soon again in sunny Florence and at the Palace,
please feel always free to contact us for anything that you might need or request or that we can sdo for you,
best regards
Dr. Alberto & Claudia Giannotti

We wouldn't have checked in but we had no choice the first night. It was filthy, noisy, just depressing and so expensive. We had the room with the frescoed ceiling which was the only positive thing about this 560 euro room. First thing in the morning, we called our next hotel and walked to a car rental agency and checked out. The manager is oblivious to the dirty doors, rails, and carpets surrounding him and thought he was doing us a favor by not charging us for the nights we refused to stay there. We did look at another room at check in which was just as bad. The beds were from a Motel 6 fire sale, the bedding looked unhealthy. We couldn't believe how much we ended up paying for the worst night of our 16 day trip. The pictures must have been taken 20 years ago by a very talented photographer and the reviews! Those must be by the manager-what lies! We got burned!!! We stayed at Cavalieri in Rome, lovely! Villa Mangiacane in Chianti, fab! The Grand Hotel in Cannes-nice, good food too, and Le Meridien in Monaco-pretty good. I wish reviewers would include this kind of information for the rest of us to use as a gauge.

Dear Madam, dear Sir,
we are really sorry to read your comment that you left about the Palazzo on the tripadvisor website.
We would like to answer your comment here following:
We accommodate thousands of guests every year, our staff works with us since many years, our attention to cleaning and service is our continuous goal and is taken care of every single moment. Our job is to make our guests enjoy a unique noble Palace and Florence experience.
Our websites and images and other travel websites are updated continously, our photo services are brand new.
We can assure that there are no dirty doors, rails, and carpets and all our suites are cleaned twice a day with all necessary attentions. Maintainance is a very serious and important service at the Palazzo and we can assure that our beds are new.
Since the frescoed junior suite is a very particular suite, completely covered by authentic frescoes, (that were completely restored in 2002) but a smaller suite than all other Palazzo suites, our staff thought to show you one of the non frescoed, 100 sqm suites. The upgrade as we explained to you would have been made with great pleasure and complimentary.
We think that it is not correct to blame the tripadvisor comunity participants/writers that their reviews about the Palace are old, when they indicate dates.
We read in your review that you appreciated other hotels during your trip, all absolutely excellent luxury hotels, but very different from the Palazzo. The Palazzo, as you can read anywhere is an all-suite small luxury property, 12 suites only, that especially takes care of privacy and of our guests personalized wishes as much as possible. "A home far from home" is what we think of the Palazzo and is what our staff is trained for carefully, with all attentions to detail, service and luxury.
Our cancellation policy, as you can read on the websites where you booked (furthermore you can find the cancellation policy on your confirmation voucher) shows its exact cancellation terms.
We really hope that this short response answers your comments,
our best wishes from Florence,
Dr. Alberto and Claudia Giannotti

We were extremely pleased with the elegant and spacious rooms and facilities. The staff was amazingly friendly, helpful, and professional. The rooftop terrace had wonderful views and was a elegant and romantic way to unwind in the evening and enjoy a few drinks before or after (and maybe before and after) dinner. Great location within walking distance of main tourist areas. It was by far the best place we stayed while in Venice, Florence, Capri, and Rome. We had a wonderful three nights there and kept wishing we were back at the Palazzo for the rest of the trip. We highly recommend to everyone and would definitely stay there again when in Florence.

The hotel is lovely. Wonderful roof terrace with views of Florence. Especially good for families with children (we included a nine and 16 year old). Well located: everything is a relatively short walk away. Be sure to check out Santo Spiritu in Oltrarno for the dinner scene.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Palazzo Magnani Feroni is an historical home that for over five hundred years has been at the centre of Florence's aristocratic life: one of the oldest dwellings in the San Frediano neighbourhood, it has stood as an important symbol of the city's history and its artistic value. The class of this elegant renaissance palace, evident upon entering, finds its maximum expression in the sumptuous suites and the luxurious hospitality quarters, furnished with candelabra, statues, paintings and frescoes form the '500. Each suite reflects the refinement of the Renaissance style, with the subtle combination of comfort and modern technology and decorated with tasteful antique furnishings and materials originating from the owners' ancestors' antique collection. Spanning between 80- and 120-square meters (860- and 1300- square feet) in size, the 13 suites each comprise a large living room, bedroom(s) and master bathroom(s). Each includes all amenities expected of a five-star luxury hotel, including stereo, satellite television in both the living room and bedroom, internet port and self-regulating air conditioning units. An architectural jewel of the 16th century, the Palazzo Magnani Feroni belongs to the National Register of Historical Monuments of the State of Italy. Detail and ornamentation characterises the building throughout, surprising the wanderer with frescoes, vaulted ceilings and intricate wood-carvings. The Renaissance decor prevails in this palace of traditional Florentine lay-out. Breakfast, for instance, is served in a 160-square meter salon with hand-crafted wood ceilings illuminated by a large original Murano chandelier. In the winter evenings, this salon serves as an intimate, candle-lit Bar, accessible to Palazzo guests and their friends only. The same rules are applicable to the adjoining Billiard Room, as well as to the In-House Gym, so as to assure the guests with absolute privacy. The beautiful Roof-Top Terrace offers a breathtaking view of the city and houses the Palazzo Bar as soon as the temperature permits. Providing 24-hour Reception and Service, the Palazzo Magnani Feroni is run by a staff dedicated to meet your every need with efficiency and discretion, both prior, during and following your stay. Services include reservations to exclusive restaurants, recommendations of typical local eateries and trattorias, coordination of privileged entrance to the city's museums, airport / train station pick-up, private shopping tours, visits to the Ferrari Museum and private, chauffeured excursions to the beautiful Chianti valley. Also, Palazzo guests choose from a selection of CDs, DVD films and soap fragrances for their suite, as well as benefit from private Guides to shopping and restaurants off the beaten path, personally written by the owners of the Palazzo for an "insider's view" of Florence. ... more   less
