Really felt that this hotel should be in Africa, not Italy.... Rooms are big but very plain... And the hotel staff could not fix the AC... front desk could be more friendly and more helpful... would not stay here again simply because there are so many better hotels to explore.

We had a trouble free stay at this hotel the room was just right and the staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant.. the only thing that could be improved is breakfast because there are lots in the hotel things run out fast. We would certainly not hesitate to stay here again.

I have to give this hotel 5 stars. I booked 4 rooms for my family altogether as we were attending a wedding of the son of one of my lifelong friends. For a start, three of the rooms (they were all standard) had a separate kitchenette area with a table and four chairs, a cooker, basin and fridge. The bedrooms themselves were of a size that would put most superior bedrooms even in 5-star hotels to shame. The rooms were all meticulously clean, air-conditioned and well decorated. There was free wifi as well which worked fairly well in most although not all places.

The hotel itself is around a 15 minutes walk through the Old City to the major square containing the historic cathedral etc. The continental breakfast was more than adequate, including fruit, various types of bread and cereals, marmalade and jam, as well as eggs, ham, cheese, natural and fruit yoghurt etc. The star attraction was a specially ordered cappuccino. There was also a great bar and seating in and outside on the veranda.

I found the hostesses and waitresses very friendly and willing to help. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for both couples and families with young or older children.

Room Tip: All the rooms were great. I would imagine that the rooms facing the courtyard could be quieter.

Quite disappointed upon entering my room of this hotel and my feelings never changed. Rooms are very spartan and cold, lackluster furnishings. Hard bed, mushy pillows, scratchy sheets, no attention to detail on any of the room appointments whatsoever, very soiled/dirty looking tile floors, walls all scuffed and marked, baseboards covered in paint drippings. US standards, this room is a 2* property at best. Worst hairdryer I've ever used (if you've ever used the hairdryer supplied on a cruise ship that looks like a vacuum cleaner, that's what they supply). I couldn't wait to check out for my early flight the next morning. Wouldn't stay here again for free.
The pros: Free wifi, friendly staff.

Everything about Ricasoli was wonderful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. There was a it of noise, but there was a group of teenagers whose voices traveled pretty far. The location is okay.. a little far from the main area, but definitely in walking distance. The breakfasts were enjoyable, and the staff was extremely friendly. I would stay here again.

First, a few caveats. I am not, by nature, a nit-picker, but one can only get an impression of the whole by looking at the sum total of the parts. My remarks regarding the room are confined to the older building, the “Residence,” if you will. I did not see the inside of a “Hotel” room.

We have just spent 20 days at the PR in connection with a tour where we took lessons in Italian over that period.

The Good:
Good location, only a straight 20 minute walk to the Duomo. A bus to the center of town (C1) stops just a few blocks away.
Breakfasts were ample as long as you didn’t show up late and were not in competition with some of the huge groups that make the PR a stop along their way. Luca, one of the waiters, is a definite bright spot, always pleasant and outgoing, and we looked forward to his appearances,
Maid service was attentive and good.
Most front desk people were pleasant and helpful. Only one was surly, refusing my wife’s request for change for a 20 Euro note by saying that if she gave it to her, what would she have for the next guest. Make sense to you?

The Bad:
We had a one-bedroom apartment. The rooms were ample in size, but after that, things fell apart. My general impression is that they had been renovated on the cheap. All floors were tiled and there were no floor coverings. This presents a falling hazard because they can get slippery. Worse, the bathroom had no grab bars, a small telephone booth sized stall shower and the tendency for the floor to get some wet spots. We are older, and careful, but this is a seriously unsafe condition that should be corrected.
PR seems to think that any light beyond what 25 to 40 watts can shed is wasted. The bed table lamps functioned better as nightlights than as lamps. There was very poor lighting throughout. Our kitchenette was much more “ette” than kitchen. Crammed into a space the size of a modern refrigerator, it had a two-burner hotplate, small sink and a refrigerator that was totally and thickly frosted, probably because the door would close completely only if you pushed hard.
The walls were just about barren, with cheesy décor where there was any. Have you been to a traveler’s hotel that did not have an alarm clock in the bedroom? The PR does not. The WIFI signal was okay in the living room, but didn’t make it into the bedroom.
Room tip:
If you are going to stay on the residence side, make sure you get a room well away from the very noisy bar on Via San Gallo. It gets going late in the evening and can be very loud. In fact, they have a sign in the doorway warning people that loud music may come from inside. If you will be staying long enough to do laundry, there is a self-service wash and dry place immediately across the street together with a little convenience store open until late a couple of doors down from it.

This is not a four star hotel.

Room Tip: Stay away from rooms opposite Tito's Bar

We are a family of 3 and we stayed here for 5 nights in mid May 2014. Huge room, 2 separate bedrooms, living room and kitchenette with table. Tons of closet space. This was more like an apartment. Outdoor area at front of hotel was huge, spacious and private with lovely smelling flowers, arches and wrought iron tables and chairs to relax and take in the peacefulness. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
