Residence la Repubblica proved to be comfortable and a very convenient place to stay during our four days in Florence. While obtaining entrance to the hotel was difficult because the "desk" is currently located at Hotel de Lanzi several blocks away (with no sign to indicate such), once settled we found our room spacious, clean, and stocked with all the usual ammenities. The small kitchen unit was especially helpful and the bathroom was comfortable for the two of us. All windows closed to block out the noises of the street when we wished for quiet. One of the best features of La Repubblica is its location, right on Piazza Repubblica with many shops, the flower mart, restaurants, post office and banking facilities. It is a short walk to the Duomo and window shopping is a delight to the eye all along the way.

We enjoyed our stay at La Repubblica very much. The accomodations were spacious and clean and provided an excellent residence setting at perhaps the best location in the city - right on the busiest piazza and only a few blocks from the Uffizzi and Duomo. However, the triple pane windows provided a quiet atmosphere within while offering the option to open and let the city flow in. If you remember that the check-in is a few blocks away at the Hotel DeLanzi, you will avoid some confusion as the entrance is unobtrusive and requires a key. The electronic security and in room safe was comforting. Breakfast is at the Hotel and is plentiful and good. An excellent value!! We almost hate to reveal such a find.

Had the miserable fortune of staying in this hotel (I use the word "hotel" with great reservation). The rooms are pathetic, puny and spartan. The "shower" is filthy and the beds are worthy of a Turkish prison. The A/C is tragic, if and when it works, and if peaches could **** - that would be the effluent that they serve with "breakfast." The wild Roman cats eat better than what is served in the morning. Check out the elevator, a marvel in inconvenience. I think it is from Imperial times! The towel (yes, ONE towel) couldn't fit around Roberto Beningni, and would not be adequate to dry his espresso cup. I BESEECH YOU, PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE! LOCATION IS NO EXCUSE!
