The Joshua Tree is definitely one of those pubs where you can feel completely at home. Being fortunate enough to be bilingual, I have introduced this Florentine gem to friends both from the States and the UK, as well as spending many unforgettable evenings here with my local Florentine group of friends. The verdict is unanimous: top-notch atmosphere & staff friendliness (kindly provided by Simone, Flaviana and Paolo and the rest of TJT's unbeatable staff). On the plus side, I have found this to be one of the few pubs in Florence where you can grab a "solo" pint & read a book for hours on end without members of staff putting pressure on you to leave or order more drinks in order to "be entitled" to keep your spot at a table, which is often the case with the larger, more tourist-oriented pubs in town. Also, Happy Hour is currently from opening time (around 5 pm) until 9.30 pm with a very good selection of beers and cocktails. In brief, choose TJT if you care about friendliness, super-cool background beats and an excellent selection of beers/cocktails. Its local feel is unrivalled!

Stopped here after a days touring.. Good fun, friendly staff, great mojito.. Pubs are very few in Florence, this is a good place for a few drinks, a chat

This place was so bad it needs a new acronym- WIWO- walk in walk out. It was uni biting for the outside- the inside was small, dirty, smelt of blocked drains/ stale urine- needless to say we didn't stay. I cannot understand how this place has any positive reviews at all- truly disgusting- the kind of place where you wipe your feet on the way out!

My life partner and I decided to take a trip to this establishment after reading the reviews and we were not disappointed. The two bartenders, Simon and Paulo were very nice and made some quality mojitos. We immediately felt welcomed and ended up chatting up a few locals and an American expat. The locals said this is definitely a bar with a ton of regulars/repeat customers, which reminded me of Cheers. We came back for a second night and most of the Italians we met were extremely friendly and excited to talk to us. At first this place may seem like it's stale or boring, but just step out of your comfort zone and have a conversation with the regulars and you'll have a blast. AAA++++ would drink there again.

We found this pub through Trip Advisor and it wasn't the great reviews that made us come but the negative ones. Reading the negative ones can gives you a good idea of the type of people that will actually be in a place and the ones who just wouldn't get it. The negative reviews looked to come from people I would avoid at all costs when travelling. We ended up spending two nights here and this was the only pub we actually had any in depth conversations with locals. There are plenty of Irish pubs in Florence where you won't here a single word of Italian spoken and if you travel to other countries and aren't willing to leave your comfort zone then stick to those. But if you want to meet locals and even learn a little Italian the people here will make you fell right at home.
