We stayed in the hills of Florence about 3-4 miles outside the city center. Trattoria Cesarino was nearby and recommended by our local Fiorentini hosts. This restaurant is small, on a lower street level with tables outside. The food was fresh with a good selection of local fare. This is a great choice of a typical Florentine restaurant.

We tried the Trattoria Cesarino at the recommendation of the staff at our hotel. We visited on a very rainy and blustery evening. We found the ambiance very comfortable and welcoming.
We were offered a complimentary glass of prosecco while we perused the menu which was solid with a very good selection of the expected fare.
The highlight dish was Florentine beef. It was a generous portion, perfectly cooked. The rest of the dishes were competent, if not memorable. The house wine was pleasant and reasonably priced.
The service was relaxed, friendly, and paced well.
Trattoria Cesarino is perhaps a little off the "beaten track", but well worth the short walk. It would certainly be a "regular" if we lived in Florence.

Family dinner ( 4 people). We made a reservation and we got a table inside ( with air conditioning ). They gave us a prosecco to start and to give us time to have a look at the menu. We had 4 different apetizers, the best was a "sformato di zucchine" ( zucchini pie ), but we tried also mozzarella di bufala, culatello, burrata, salamis... (They forgot to bring us bread and then apologised, but that was ok for us ). After that we ordered a "fiorentina" steak ( rare..as it should be ) for 2, a pasta with tunafish and a couscous with shrimps...not bad at all. We also checked their wine list: they have a very wide set...we chose a very good red wine..."Dianella" chianti ( 15€ ).
We ended having a look at the desert list and we got cantuccini with vinsanto, a very refreshing lemon sorbetto and a cream caramel, the waiter offered us also a white grappa.
The price wasn't too high considering all we had and on top of that they gave us 3 discount coupons ( 20%) to use for other dinners... never seen in other restaurants in Florence...
We'll go back there soon.

Very friendly attentive service. During our 10 day stay in Florence this was the best restaurant we visited so we went back again! Montepuluciano de Nobile was excellent and reasonably priced. Home made bread was brilliant with olive oil and the pork with spinach and tagliatelle with truffles were our favourite dishes. If we ever return to Florence we will certainly visit Cesarinos again. English family of 5, kids 7, 9 and 10.
