“Excellent Stay at this Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2013

Highly recommend this hotel! The staff are wonderful. We stayed in suite #206 which worked out great for my husband & me and my teenage daughter and my sister in law. We had our own room with a hall that led to a second bedroom that can be used as a bedroom or a sitting area. We loved the fact that is was not an American Hotel, it was a Florence Hotel. The only thing it needed was maybe an alarm clock in the bedroom and better lighting. Other than that, it was perfect! We loved the location right near the Ponte Vecchio. The roof top bar speaks for itself! Totally worth the steps up to the top and a great way to start your evening. The breakfast was satisfying with warm boiled egges, delicious granola, yoguarts, fruit and more. We were fortunate to meet the hotel owner who was a class act. We all talked for while on the roof while we sipped on cocktails! The nex evening when we returned to our hotel after spending the day out, he reached out to us with a hand written letter extending his concern for the Boston Marathon tragedy (knowing we were from the area). We ran into him again as we checked out and he again, extended how sorry he was for what our city was going through. The entire staff reached out with concern which was very touching (even posting a note at the entrance). Overall, we had a wondeful stay at this hotel and I'm so glad we choose to stay here! I jwould stay again without hesitation!

Room Tip: Suite # 206 located on the second floor worked great for those traveling with a family. With two r...

My wife and I stayed here for a week in April. We booked far in advance the room with the balcony...this is the third time we have stayed here in the identical room. An outdoor room as large as most living rooms makes this hotel the most special, if any, in all of Florence. Wonderful breakfasts. Three blocks from the Ponte vechio. No more needs to be said.

If you are a romantic at heart and are traveling to Florence, you should stay here! The building was built in the 14th century, but the tower is older. You will be staying in a Pre-Renaissance palace.
The building has been remodeled many times in the past 700 years. It had modern plumbing, TV, phones, unbelievably high ceilings. There is a modern elevator, and no big steps to worry about, unless you want to climb to the tower to view over the rooftops of Florence.
We stayed in room # 208, with a queen size modern iron four poster bed. Much of the furniture was art deco antique, with a large wardrobe for clothing storage. It was very clean, with a very comfortable modern mattress - right out of a romance novel.
The desk staff speak excellent English, though we were the only English speaking guests while we were there. The building feels very secure, with an iron gate guarding the door to the lobby. Location is ideal, being only a few blocks from the Uffizi and the Ponta Vecchio. This is a high rent district, with nearby stores like Ferragamo, Chanel, Hermes. Several nearby restaurants are quite good, but ask at the desk, because they are located in the alleys, not the streets! A nice breakfast is served on the third floor in the morning with cereal, fruit, croissants, a pastry, an of course, cappuccino! There is also piano music performed in the evening on several nights - not something I expected.
The only complaint might be the early morning noise. This is not the fault of the hotel. It comes from the street merchants pushing their carts towards the nearby flee market site. You can close your windows. There is no traffic noise at night.
I feel truly privileged to have stayed in this historic building. I recommend it to adults who are interested in art and history. (Why else would you be visiting Florence?)

My wife saw this hotel rated highly in a travel book. The tower was a big time selling point. When we arrived at the hotel (Easter 2013) we were not disappointed. The hotel itself is in an amazing location and on a quiet side street. Our room was nothing to special but the tower/lounge/breakfast area and staff were really great!

I would stay here again for sure! I would highly recommend this hotel for families, couples and people traveling solo.

Room Tip: We had the Superior double room - it was nice but a standard room would have been fine too.

My wife and I visited the hotel for an overnight stay in October 2011 and recommended the hotel to friends of ours when all of us visited Florence for a few days starting March 2 to 5. The staff is wonderful, and that is for starters. The hotel location is tremendous, right near the Ponte Vecchio and within walking distance of most of the marvels of Florence. Breakfasts (included in the price) are wonderful, the rooms are roomy, clean and wifi is available. There are different types of rooms available and we saw three in our two trips - small and romantic, large and romantic and one for a family of four and wonderful. This is the tallest privately owned building in Florence, from the 13th Century and - aside from the modern amenities - you feel like you are in another century, another world. Pricing is better in March than in the summer or even early Fall, but it is well worth the money. The front desk personnel are wonderful getting you reservations for the museums, advising on special restaurants and just making you feel like you are home... in Italy. And did I mention the top of the tower? Maybe the best views of Florence. Go there as sun sets, hopefully with people you love, some cheese, maybe even a glass or so of wine, and you'll feel like you are the luckiest people in the world. Which, if you are there, you are. No, I'm not affiliated with the place at all but if my wife and I are lucky enough to visit Florence again, you know where we will be staying!

The hotel is very near the famous Ponte Vecchio, at the centre of Florence: you can visit it by foot. Go to the terrace at the last floor to see Florence. The breakfast is good. The room is large and nice.

positive location and positive quality/price balanced value.
of course it's difficult to arrive and to park, so older people are not advantaged. but it's fantastic to stay ih the heart of the city. the view from the (small) terracce is fantastic even if only after so many steps...
