Stayed one night. I came in from Rome solo and was disappointed with Florence. After Rome, it was a let down. Just me, but that is not why I am writing. Had a 3 day reservation and wanted to leave after one nite. They were so good as to let me go without charging for a day or two more. I can't say enough for this kind of service!! Thank you Hotel Alessandra!

Room Tip: Good hotel that will work with you!

I stayed here the night before the Firenze Marathon. It was perfect; quiet room, staff that greeted me by name, excellent breakfast, and located in the heart of the city, with lots of restaurants steps away - as well as the Uffizi, Duomo and other sights. Even better: post-marathon, the walk to the train station took less than fifteen minutes. I highly recommend this hotel if you're looking to use your travel budget on fun things in Florence, as opposed to a pricey hotel.

This is a great place to stay in Florence. It is near EVERYTHING! Our room was very large and comfortable. The front desk is there to help you in every way. The morning breakfast has a very nice selection.
We had a little difficulty using our laptop in our room. The walls in the hotel are so thick that it was hard to get a signal through. They are working on this but you get excellent reception in the library. There is also a computer for your use.

Room Tip: You do need to be aware of the steps involved with this hotel. To get to reception you need to take...

Nicely tucked down a quiet street with clean rooms and really friendly service. Strange lift (you have to walk up one flight of stairs to get to the lift and then it barely fits two people) but didn't bother us.
Great value for money, 5 (to 10) mins walk from the Ufizi and Ponte Vecchio.
Really friendly staff and nice solid beds with clean bathroom.
Good array of food for breakfast with lots of coffee!

I think there must be a big difference in the rooms this hotel offers - we found out that by accident that we had booked a room that was not an ensuite (even though technically it was a private bathroom - just not adjoined - must have not read the fine print), and the bathroom was not very clean and the first night I had to ask them to clean it again. The room itself was HUGE and imposing without much furniture. It was like staying in a big room with just a bed in the middle. An awkward room situation overall.

On the plus side it was it was in a fantastic location and did look out at the river and bell tower which is pretty hard to get in Florence. But I'd trade that for an ensuite bathroom and a cozier room any day.

We're very sorry to hear that you were disappointed! Because of the age of our building (it was built in the 1500's!) some rooms are much different than others, some providing more open space. We hope that you enjoyed the rest of your trip!

My husband, mom and in-laws and I had a fantastic stay at Hotel Alessandra. The hotel is perfectly located within walking distance of all the great Florence attractions, shops, cafes and restaurants. The Ponte Vecchio was a stone’s throw away, and there was an adorable market just down the alley.

The rooms are impeccably clean and spacious. The hotel is very safe and secure. The breakfast was a wonderful plus – typical Italian breakfast with pastries and jam, yogurts, cereals, fruit, etc. (don’t expect an “American” breakfast anywhere in Italy). The best part was the cappuccinos made-to-order with a smile! :)

The staff was extremely helpful when our plans to Cinque Terre were cancelled because of the floods, and let us stay two extra nights at the same great rate! They also gave us great restaurant recommendations.

We were sad to leave and hope to return soon!

I thank you for your post I'm happy you had good time with us and you appreciated our hospitality and next time you come to Florence we hope to be still here to welcome back :-).
We were happy to be able to avoid you to go to Cinque terre in a bad moment, I'm sure next time you will be able to plan your holiday and go there you will love it

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Our family run hotel is right in the heart of Florence old town - near to the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio. Without doubt, Hotel Alessandra is one of the most centrally located hotels in Florence. In this privileged position, Hotel Alessandra offers a home away from home, with our friendly team and extensive knowledge of the local area. The hotel entrance is situated on the second floor of the building. You can reach the reception floor using the lift, small but working fine (in the 1400s buildings hadn't been designed with this in mind!) But please note that there are around 30 steps from the entrance on the street level to the departure of the lift. We very much look forward to seeing you! Andrea and Anna ... more   less
