We had such a great stay here. Great location and great staff. Everyone took such great care of us, especially Monti. Love him! Thanks for making our stay in Florence so unforgettable!

It was truly our pleasure. A special "hi" from Monti.

I had chosen this hotel for its location just beyond Ponte Vecchio and its prime ranking. It is ideal for doing the museums and religious buildings nearby. However I finally decided after contacting Andrea that for a stay of 13 days we would feel rather congested among the tourist throngs in those gloomy narrow streets. So we made another selection further away from the centre with parks nearby and children playing instead of busload tours.
Nevertheless I went to see Hotel Alessandra for myself and meet its host. I found the brass hotel nameplate but could not open the heavy wooden door until I pressed a knob on the nameplate and heard a reassuring click. Inside was a deep entry loggia with the famous staircase so many reviewers mention at the back, elegantly wide but no joke to lug a suitcase up those 17 steps to the miniscule elevator. Not having any luggage I walked the further two stories of stairs until I came to the entrance doofs of the hotel itself, with Andrea behind the counter.
He very kindly let me stroll around the long immaculate corridors tastefully hung with well-framed prints of historical themes. Without seeing inside any rooms I could count on the fact that they would be as well tended as those corridors, bur probably have no outlook other than rooftops.
I would definitely enjoy a short stay in such a 2Star hotel despte its daunting entry climb, but I was glad to have chosen a 3Star hotel with a ground floor room in a less central location for a substantially lower daily rate.

Room Tip: Being an upstairs hotel there will be no street noise, and I am sure no rooms will have any advantag...

I LOVED this hotel and the staff is, as everyone says, the main reason why. Everyone was helpful. I arrived VERY early in the morning and was greeted warmly by Monti who let me check in, told me I was welcome to a nap, shower, have coffee and eat breakfast. I was meeting my daughter for a few days in Florence so the twin bed room with shared bath worked perfectly for us. The hotel is easy to get to, and located close to everything you want to do. They even helped arrange for a wine tour for us. Our room was clean, the food was great, the price is wonderful. The only challenge would be the elevator if you have any trouble walking up stairs with suitcases. Other than that - this can't be beat. We will stay there again if we are lucky enough to get back to that wonderful city!

First off, the innkeepers at this hotel are simply the loveliest people and this reflects the level of service that you will receive if you stay here. Case in point: our flight was delayed, resulting in the potential loss of one night's fees at the hotel. The innkeeper (Andrea) allowed us to stay an extra night to make up for it -- a very generous offer that we happily accepted. Moreover, we had tons of help from the folks at the front desk in terms of making reservations (e.g., excellent restaurant recommendations that were not tourist traps), getting directions, etc. Someone is always at the front desk, ready and willing to help you. Free wireless internet is offered. The location of the hotel can't be beat - it's close to all of the main attractions -- Duomo, river, shopping, etc, but just far enough away from the hustle and bustle. The rooms themselves are very clean and reasonably spacious for a European hotel. Breakfast is provided and it's very good: a selection of fresh pastries, cereal, yogurts, meats/cheeses, fruit cocktail, juices, and cappucino/tea. Great service, great value, kind people, excellent location --we would certainly return here and encourage others to stay as well.

We came a year ago and again, I had no hesitation booking in with Andrea at the Alessandra. Central location just off the Ponte Vecchio. Free Wi-Fi...... great breakfasts and nothing is too much trouble. Stayed with my 12 year old daughter in a bigger room at the rear facing the River Arno this time.

Great value. The rooms are not contemporary, but are clean and comfortable. Plenty of room in the superior suite. 'Not modern, but quaint and an excellent base'. Perhaps not for the young romantic couple if modern surroundings required.... but for our purposes (a central base, helpful staff and good value)... perfect.

Room Tip: Rear rooms facing river larger

Wonderful hotel! Location is perfect...walking distance from all the main attractions. The best part of the hotel is the staff...they are friendly, helpful, accommodating, and all around great. I would stay there again just for the service the staff provided. It's not the fanciest or newest hotel, but it's clean and the room was a good size; for the price, it's worth it. The only thing that I would warn about is that the elevator is not on the ground floor; it's up a flight a stairs. Not a deal breaker, but may be for some individuals with difficulty walking especially with luggage. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We loved this hotel- the room was very spacious and we had a view of the River Arno, The location was fantastic- right in the middle of the downtown area and within walking distance of everything - we were able to walk to Accademia, Uffizi, the Duomo, the river, and all the shopping districts. The hotel staff was very helpful with explaining where we were in the city, provided small maps that highlighted everywhere we wanted to go, and made reservations for us at two wonderful restaurants that were just what we were looking for. The breakfast was a really nice touch and allowed us to hit the city with our bellies full and avoid having to make a separate stop in the morning. I don't hesitate when saying that we would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the river!
