We asked for a room with a view of the Arno River. Our room was very quiet and comfortable. The hotel is in a great central location. The staff are
very helpful, pleasant and professional, particularly the funny delightful Monti, who's been working for this family operated hotel for 20 years. Adequate continental breakfast.

The Hotel Allessandra is centrally located near the Arno, the Duomo, Uffizzi, and reasonably-priced restaurants. Be prepared to climb a few stairs, but the staff were awesome and helped us with our luggage once we got up to the hotel level of the building. The desk staff spoke English and helped guide us whenever we asked. Our room was clean with high ceilings and a view over Florence's rooftops. The bathroom was beautiful marble. Breakfast was just fine, and the people we met were friendly. We enjoyed our stay.

We stayed here for 2 nights in late March 2010, and experienced very friendly staff, a clean comfortable room, good breakfast and an ideal location (10 min walk to Uffizi, Arno, Piazza della Signora). Price is right, internet access available, we were very pleased with our experience here!

I loved my stay here. My room was large and comfortable with a nice big window. The room had a TV, mini fridge and free wi-fi internet. The bathroom was nice and the shower had plenty of hot water. The free breakfast was great. They had pastries, cereal, eggs, yogurt, toast, coffee, tea, juice and much more.

The service here was wonderful. The staff was always available to assist me with anything I needed. That was the best part of my stay.

I would definitely return and bring friends and family.

Lovely hotel, really convenient for all attractions. Breakfast was amazing, great choice of everything you could want, the warm custard filled croissants and frothy cappucinos really set you up for the day! Great service, really friendly helpful staff - stay here if you don't want to spend an absolute fortune but still want to be in the thick of it all. Would definitely recommend it. Had a great trip to Siena and San Gimignano, also open top bus - take the route up to Fiesole, definitely worth it for the amazing views of the city amd the gorgeous scenery on the way up!

The Hotel was very centrally located being within easy walking distance of the highlights of Florence and just a stones throw from the Ponte Vecchio. Plenty of shops and restaurants around but the hotel was not noisy at night. The service was friendly and those at reception did their best to be accommodating and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the breakfast was plentiful. The only drawback was the access to the hotel which was up three steep flights of stairs ( a lift could be accessed after one flight) so it would not be suitable for disabled or infirm travellers. Otherwise a very comfortable and pleasant stay.

My wife (29) and I (31) stayed here for 3 nights. Would recommend this place to anyone (anyone who can handle stairs).

Pro's:
- Staff was incredibly friendly - gave good restaurant rec's, always courteous, etc. Truly felt the "mi casa es su casa" vibe. You almost wanted to hug them saying good-bye at the end.
- Spotless
- Jr suite was very spacious
- Good breakfast spread
- Awesome location. Near the river, steps away from Ponte Vechio. Just a few min's from the main square, Duomo, etc. Walk to Train Station only about 15 min.
- free Wi-Fi (just had to ask front desk for username/password)
- Super easy to book Tuscany excursion and museum tix through the hotel - did so weeks beforehand via email

Cons:
- bathroom dimensions were odd, long and narrow: limited toilet leg room (not sure if other rooms were like that)
- Shower took WAY LONG (never timed it, but maybe 5 min - i'm not exagerating) to warm up. Low water pressure.
- Hotel is on 3rd floor. There is an elevator but you must walk up 1 floor to get it. While we never took the elevator, after a long day of walking those 3 measly flights were a killer.
- If you take daytime naps there is a church adjacent that loudly rings its bell every 30 min. Bell did not ring at night, though.

Our family run hotel is right in the heart of Florence old town - near to the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio. Without doubt, Hotel Alessandra is one of the most centrally located hotels in Florence. In this privileged position, Hotel Alessandra offers a home away from home, with our friendly team and extensive knowledge of the local area. The hotel entrance is situated on the second floor of the building. You can reach the reception floor using the lift, small but working fine (in the 1400s buildings hadn't been designed with this in mind!) But please note that there are around 30 steps from the entrance on the street level to the departure of the lift. We very much look forward to seeing you! Andrea and Anna ... more   less
