“Perfect!!”
Reviewed 8 May 2011

Booked a 2 night stay and ended up wishing we had more time. The room was spacious and spotless. Beautiful balcony view overlooking the courtyard. Large, fully equipped bath with window that opened! Wonderful and fresh breakfast, free wifi, walking distance from train station and to all attractions. The best thing about Hotel Giglio is the staff. They are UNBELIEVABLY GREAT! They treated us like royalty, going out of their way to make us comfortable and accomodate our requests. I would NEVER stay anywhere else in Florence!!

We (myself, partner and friend) booked into Hotel Giglio after reading the impressive reviews on Trip Advisor and were delighted to find the reviews were absolutely spot on.

Whilst our initial booking was for 3 days, we loved it so much, we decided to stay for another 3 days, and the staff were more than happy to move bookings around to accommodate us.

We cannot speak highly enough of the staff and their exceptional standard of service - from the welcome and check-in, fantastic local restaurant and day trip recommendations; fabulous breakfasts plus little things like providing books, dvds and internet access, we were absolutely thrilled to come across this gem!

The price was very reasonable, the rooms lovely and a short walk from the heart of Florence.

We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

Room Tip: Ask for recommendations on local restaurants!

I highly recommend this hotel. The price is perfectly reasonable, and we were a short walk from all the major sights, as well as right around the corner from shops and restaurants. Our room had tall, gorgeous ceilings and antique furniture. The room was a bit dark and the bathroom utilitarian, but the space was roomy overall and our tall double window opened onto a narrow balcony with flower boxes.

Breakfast was buffet style (juice, fruit, cereal, breads, hard boiled eggs, and a selection of meats and cheeses) with coffee of your choice, freshly made. All was fine and we had no complaints.

But what really impressed us was the beyond-exceptional service. I honestly don't think I've ever come across better. Every person working the reception desk was incredibly friendly and helpful. They let us use their phone several times (even though we had one in our room) and printed out our PDF travel guide for us. One staff member spent over twenty minutes helping me plan our trip; he even drew me a map, and called the rental car company to make sure we could leave our luggage there on the day we planned to check out. (We were going to visit a museum before driving a rental car out of Florence, and leaving our luggage there was more convenient than returning to the hotel to pick it up.)

The reception staff also let us borrow travel guides for free, and--best of all--gave us a complimentary ride to the rental car place when we checked out.

Really, all the staff were lovely and gracious and made us feel so welcome. I highly recommend this hotel!

The hotel owner and staff were beyond reviews that I read in that they were genuinely kind and nice people. The hotel was beautiful, comfortable and in a very nice location for us (no car). The staff/owner were friendly and kind and we wish them the best of luck and success. If you are looking for a family run, clean and comfortable place to stay, pick Giglio.

Very personable, attentive and helpful hosts -- brothers Marco & Roberto and Marco's wife -- offer a polished lodging experience -- quiet, clean rooms; generous breakfast; Internet access-- just 10 minute walk from Piazza San Marco and from Accademia (David's home), 20- 25 minute walk from Duomo & Uffizi Gallery, 15 minutes walk from Santa Maria Novella train station. Spot-on restaurant and cultural sits recommendations. Made reservations at Uffizi and Accademia at booking.

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is nicely situated, 10-15 mins walking to Duomo. Upon check in, we met Marco. He is a very friendly guy, we asked for some tips for travelling and dining around Firenze, and trust me, he knows his stuff :) He even gave us a 10% discount at a ristorante (located in Piazza di San Marco) and it is the best meal ever we tried in Firenze.

The room is quite big and feels like home, which we like most. Really really enjoyed our stay in Hotel Giglio. Breakfast is also fantastic with pastries and cold meats and of course the bottomless coffee :)

Marco & the staff, thank you very much for your hospitality. We greatly appreciate it and last but not least, thank you for the ride to the train station. Grazie mille !!! We'll come back someday ...
