“Good Location, Big Rooms, Nice Breakfast, SImply amazing Service/staff”
Reviewed 25 August 2011

Family of four (8, 10), last minute trip to Italy.

Great location, 10 minutes walk to everything.
5 minutes to bus stops.
Lots of restaurants at all price points close by.
Very nice breakfast, with lots of options for the kids.
Suprisingly spacious room. Free wifi.

Most appealing was the amazing staff and service by everyone. Clearly a family run outfit.
One of the highlights of our trip was their staff doing a daily map route for our 10 year old, very patiently, who then guided us via buses and walking tours by "reading" the map.

After talking to us, their reccomendations were spot on as to which attractions to visist, timing, when to pay for tours.

They even drove us to the train station at the end.

This was a wonderful find for us - a great little hotel with 16 rooms overall. We got a very spacious and comfortable double room for e84 euros per night, and selected this place due to its top 30 rating out of almost 500 hotels on TripAdvisor. It lived up to or exceeded our expectations in every respect.

In the lobby, there was a bar and coffee/espresso area, and a large comfortable sitting area with a couple of couches and chairs. The front desk person was always willing to make a coffee or cappuccino in the off hours. In addition, Luka made reservations for us at the Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia Gallery (Michelangelo's David), thus saving us hours of waiting in line at these attractions.

The breakfast area had about 10 tables, which seemed sufficient for the number of rooms. Breakfast was an enhanced continental - with fruit, cereal, yogurt, croissants, rolls, but also had sliced meats and cheese, and some sweet cake that I think was tiramisu - which was a real bonus.

We stayed 2 nights, in the peak of the tourist season - yet always got great service. When we left to catch our train, one of the owners - Marco - was leaving for the day and offered to drive us to the train station, thus saving us that additional hassle. (It is owned by a couple of brothers and their families - which ensures the high quality.)

Our room was quiet and pleasant, everything worked well, and I cannot think of anything that was not completely positive about this experience. I would stay there again in a heartbeat, and I recommend it highly. (and no - I'm not related, I'm not Italian, and I'm from the USA)

Room Tip: We had an inside room that overlooked a courtyard with laundry lines strung up. Very quiet; we didn...

Hotel Giglio is located in an historic building on Via Cavour, a popular street in the center of Florence, only a leisurely walk away from many of the most visited historical sites of Florence like the Florence Dome. So convinient to find out the beautiful sighseeings in the city. Hotel Giglio offered its guests all the modem conforts in distinguished atmosphere which you can't feel in anywhere. The multi-lingual staff combines its professionalism with great courtesy always ready to assist the guest with whatever needs they may have during their stay.

I honestly don't know where to start. The location is great - 10 minute walk to all of the major sights of Florence, amazingly friendly staff (Marco and Roberto were VERY helpful to my wife and I who were a little sick for part of our 6 day stay), large rooms and bathrooms for Europe (but don't think "large" by US standards), nice continental breakfast. I cannot recommend Hotel Giglio enough.

Having been to a few different places in Italy, I can tell you, this place well exceeds the average, especially how helpful and nice the staff are.

Lovely hotel owners. Very hospitable. The breakfast hot beverages were great. This hotel is a fine example of what good service should be about. Unfortunately, the toilet was broken for the entirety of our 2 night, 3 day stay.

We had an 8 month baby and a 3 and 4 year old. If you were staying at the hotel during that week, I apologize!!!

Room Tip: They told u about a 3 euro per person per nigh tourist tax/ fee imposed by the city, payable by cash...

Host/owner even helped park car which seems to be challenging for me in Europe.
Carried our luggage, recommended an excellent restaurant. Breakfast was delicious.
Location superb for seeing the Academy and Duoma and shopping. Only negative was
hotel is up one story and room a bit small but it is an old building. Bathroom/shower excellent. They have a nice bar and offer to make you a cappuccino. A great value.
