This delightful hotel is a mere 4-5 minute walk down the street from the duomo and just a couple of blocks from the famed San Lorenzo market where you can buy anything and everything leather. The two brothers who own and run the hotel are always present and most helpful with directions, reservations at museums/restaurants and even bus tickets. Breakfast is bountiful and will last you all day. The only downside is that without carpeting in the hall it can be a little noisy if you go to sleep early, but Hotel Giglio will be my first choice when traveling to Florence.

We arrived in Florence after an awful experience in Rome. The staff was fantastic here. We had been cheated and taken advantage of all through Rome, but Florence changed our whole attitude. We were treated great, the rooms were clean, and the beds were soft. We had some well needed rest. They have books and DVDs for free use. Which was welcome after having nothing in English in Rome except music videos(lady gaga) and WWE. I hate to leave. They are even taking us to the train station. Best hotel ever, especially for the price. Tip: don't use google maps to find. Just go straight down via Camilla Cavour.

courteous and helpful staff, clean simple rooms, great price and excellent location-what more could you want?? oh, and solid continental breakfast.... short walk to san marco square with great bakery (Pugi's) and the Duomo (be sure to walk up the 416 steps of Giotto's tower and then head to Grom for the best gellato)

The front desk staff, especially Luca was more than fantastic. The room reminds me of staying at my grandmother's, so it's cozy. The bathroom was huge by European standards. The location was great. It was a 10 minute walk to the Duomo and a 15-20 minute walk to the SMN Train Station. The breakfast was good, not spectacular but fine, really. They even offered to drive me to the train station upon departure. They are very helpful with directions and dining suggestions.

Dear travellers,

Me and my girlfriend were lucky enough to encounter hotel Giglio in Florence through trip advisor.
We are well travelled and stayed there for one week.
The attention we got from all the staff there was exceptional!
I would recommend it to anyone.

Thanks again Marco and all your team, you really are professionals in this hospitality business.

Frédéric

Hotel Giglio was our favorite of all the places we stayed in France and Italy. The location is great, the hotel itself is very warm and welcoming, the room was comfortable, breakfast was excellent, and the price was good. We had to go to the train station twice and both times when we asked for a taxi, the hotel staff insisted on taking us. They were very helpful with setting up day tours, finding a laundromat, medical care, and recommending restaurants. I was traveling with a teenager and she loved it too. I would definitely recommend this hotel and plan to stay there again the next time I visit Florence.

Hotel Giglio is the nicest hotel we have ever stayed in. It is not too big, not too small and the service is very attentive without being annoying. The hotel is owned by two brothers and it seemed as though one or the other was there constantly overseeing the service. Our room was a comfortable size with a new marble bathroom. Everything spotlessly clean. For breakfast there is a fantastic array of offerings -- cereal, pastries, yogurt, a selection of meats and cheeses, fresh fruit, rolls, a selection of juices and capuchino. The hotel is convenient to everything but in a quieter neighborhood than the Duomo. Excellent restaurants, including one of the only vegetarian restaurants in Florence just around the corner. Just a fabulous place to stay.
