The Hotel Balcony is what it is, a good value 2 star hotel in the heart of Florence. Its not flash but it is more than adequate. It's clean and tidy and has decent size comfortable rooms and it was surprisingly quiet considering the location. The location is excellent, half way between the station and the Dome, right on the edge of the old city. The continental breakfast was good, of a reasonable quality and there was plenty of it, my only fault there was that the coffee was horrible. The staff were friendly and very helpful with all our needs.
This was the best value accomodation that we could find in the centre of the city and we would go back without hesitation. The only reason to look elsewhere is if you are willing to pay 50-100+ more for somewhere posh.

Very good location in terms of visiting the sights however we found in the evening the loaction had little atmosphere and we had to search quite hard to find a decent bar. Nice restaurants nearby however it is expensive around here - I think the east of the city seems less touristy / more down to earth.
Rooms clean but pretty uncomfy bed, nice balcony, ok breakfast.
Overall I was satisfied that we got good value for money.
The owner / manager was very nice man who was extremely helpful when we left our passports behind!

Domenico particularly was very helpful and friendly. Ordering tickets through them for the Uffizi was one of the best decisions I've made. (On my last trip to Florence I waited in line for 2 hours, only to be told that they stopped selling tickets for the day.) Definitely a good value -- would stay here again.

My extended family of 6 stayed in three rooms for only one night (we overnight trained to Munich at the end of the second day). The rooms were comfortable and very adequately appointed. Bathrooms were spacious enough and everything worked. Free wi-fi was available, but spotty in terms of locations available in the hotel. You pretty much had to sit right next to their computer. The balcony itself was a fun place to sit and enjoy some wine and talk with other guests if you'd like. They stored our bags for us after checkout until we picked them up late in the evening, and accommodated us with the use of their WC as well. We did not take part in breakfast, however they do have a espresso/cappuccino/hot chocolate machine that was free to use at any time. We had warm milks in the evening and cappuccinos in the morning on the balcony. The location is just a short walk from both SMN statzione and the Duomo...ideal in my opinion. The reasonable price topped it off as a wonderful value. I would check out the Hotel Balcony on any return trip before looking elsewhere.

We stayed at Hotel Balcony for 4 nights during our honeymoon. On our arrival, we were immediately greeted by the charming owner Francesco. We had a nice spacious room on the 2nd floor with the window looking out onto the balcony which had a beautiful view of the Duomo. The bathroom was clean and we were never short of clean towels or soaps/shampoo. The included breakfast was fantastic: croissants, bread, ham & salami, yoghurt, fresh fruits, juice etc - the best we had during our trip. The owners/staff were always friendly and helpful. Right next door to our hotel was a lovely family-owned restaurant which had the most delicious spaghetti cabonara we have ever tasted!! We ate there twice out of the 4 nights we were there.

Florence is very compact, and Hotel Balcony is literally 5 minutes walk from the rail station, and walking distance to all the major sights and attractions. What was great was that we were able to catch a train to Siena, Pisa for the day, and just come back in the late afternoon and take a relaxing stroll along River and watch the sunset over Pont Vecchio or Pizzale Michaelangelo.

The only negative experience during our stay was an extremely inconsiderate group of people who were there for a wedding, who kept us awake every night talking and laughing loudly on the balcony until 2am!!! The owner tried their best and were very apologetic, and offered to move us to another room. Apart from this, we absolutely loved our time in Florence and would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone!

Small, charming hotel very close to the train station but not so close as to feel the spillover of hectic travellers. For the price we were very happy. Room was a good size with a very nice bathroom. It was clean and quiet at night. They had a nice rooftop terrace with a view of the Duomo if you lean out and peer right. Breakfast was better than the typical continental fair. Espresso machine could be better. Their Internet was down at the time, which was an inconvenience and hopefully they get on top of that. Overall, a nice hotel at a fantastic price, at a perfect location for exploring Florence.

we spent 2 nights in november in this nice small hotel, the staff are very friendly and helpful. the location is excellent between the train station & the duomo.
there is a computer with paid internet access, the room was a little small but we had no problem walking around, the bathroom seemed recently renovated, there was a hairdryer, minibar, TV, and some rooms have a safe box too.
we prefered to have a room with no view because it was more quiet.
the view from the balcony was very nice.
the breakfast was included and was good, there was ham, cheese, fruits, cereals, yougurt, bread,...
it's a small 2 star hotel, it's no luxury, but very clean & safe with friendly and helpful staff.
