“Best value for tourists in Florence”
Reviewed 10 November 2012

We stayed for six nights at hotel Albion in end of October. It met our expectations perfectly and even exceeded them - spacious and clean room, good breakfast, and last but not least - hotel staff made everything so that we feel comfortable during our stay there. Hotel Albion is what every tourist looks for - a place to feel home after a long day of riding through streets, sights and museums of Firenze.

The Hotel Albion makes up for its lack of modern poshness with the caring of its owners Massimo and Sara. They made restraurant reservations and got us a reservation at the Uffizi for the next day. We enjoyed the breakfast and the room, while not modern, was large and comfortable; it was air-conditioned and it worked well. The location is near to the center of town with a convenient taxi stand across the street.

We were in the hotel 2 nights.

GOOD: Room was clean and large enough to spread out in. The shower was small, but worked great! The lighting was wonderful and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was very nice -- ask for hot chocolate if you like it, the hot chocolate was wonderful.

GREAT: The staff was excellent! They were friendly, responsive, and conversational!

BAD: The wifi system is not very good. They give you a card with a unique login name. I could barely get a signal on the 1st floor and only about 1 of every 3 pages would load. We could not upload any photos. Email was spotty, even though it ran in the background.

Great location with a very friendly staff. After the first day everyone calls you by your name. Very good breakfast. Close to the train station. Very nice room. Sarah and her Dad were very helpful. I was with my son and his wife and their room was huge with 15 foot ceilings. Mine was above the bar but quiet at this time of year.

We booked a triple room for 3 nights, but got a pretty big room that can actually fit 4 people. The hotel is conveniently located about 10 minutes from the train station. It has a B&B atmosphere and feels very cozy and comfortable. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They offer satellite TV channels including ESPN, but the TV set is kind of old and should be upgraded to an LCD one.

Breakfast was OK with limited selections, but the pastries were not of very good quality. My major complaint is about their WiFi signal, which can be very weak depending on your room's location. We had to go to their lounge to get a decent connection. Since Internet access is on top of my list, I could only give them 3 stars because of this shortfall.

This hotel is outstanding! The location is great and it is beautifully decorated with the family extensive art collection. Sarah, the owner's daughter and manager, was beyond helpful and friendly! She made reservations for us for restaurants and museums. She made us coffee upon arrival. Her father got us a taxi to the airport very early in the morning. The room was very comfortable and spacious. It even had a cooking range, sink, refrigerator and A/C. the assortment of breakfast items was vast. There was even fruit, which we didn't see a whole lot of in other hotels. There is a fully-stocked bar and a computer with wi fi in the lobby, along with a large book and magazine collection. I will stay here again, for sure. HIGHLY recommended hotel! The only thing that wasn't perfect was the street noise, but this is Florence, after all, and it is noisy everywhere.

Room Tip: Ask if there is a room away from the street. It is very loud at night.
