Only a 5 minute walk from the tain station and very easy to find. Walk out the front door and you are in the Duomo sqaure with breath taking views and smells of the pizza shops all around. Rooms where normal size in Euro standards and well cleaned, Staff was very nice and helped everyway they could. This will be our new hotel to stay at every year we travel to florence. Thank you for making our trip that much better!!

Room Tip: Grab a double room with a double bed and ask for a view of the Duomo if possible.

We spent 3 nights at Hotel Bigallo which I booked on Venere for a good price first week end of January. The location of the hotel is perfect, I do not think you can find better than that. Apart from the great location it's a modest hotel nothing great, clean room, no view at all as we were on the wrong side but we did not stay much in this room. As any old building you can easily hear noises from dishes in the morning. One thing... breakfast ends at 9:30 !! Way too early we could only manage to get our last one, nothing much to expect here anyway. You'll have to park your car at a partner parking for 24 euros the night. I rated 4 stars for the location, the hotel is nice but I would put 3 if it were somewhere else ;).

Room Tip: I do not remember the name of our room it was 1306, there is no view at all do not pick this one !

Booked this hotel via a online booking agency & there were problems with this. The hotel upgraded us to a suite with the most spectacular view to the Duomo! Room 1405. Room very clean, comfortable bed & great modern bathroom. Breakfast typical eg breads, meats, cheese, cereal, yoghurt, fruit & sweet pastries - certainly enough choice. Wifi €5 per 24 hours. Hotel has association with a garage to park your car - €25 per 24 hours - very safe. There is a lift to the hotel reception, located on third floor, but you then need to carry your luggage up two flights of stairs to access the rooms. All in all, a great comfortable hotel, right in the centre of old Florence.

This hotel's location is unbeatable! It is right smack in the center of town. You can look out the window from the lobby and the Duomo is right In front of you! The rooms are clean and spacious and their breakfast is okay. Their rates are very reasonable too! The only thing everyone should know though is that the hotel lobby is on the second floor. Do not ring the buzzer outside. You should go inside and take the lift. I highly recommend this hotel!

Stayed here with work, accommodating staff, chilly air con that suits my Scottish temperament, clean rooms and a decent continental buffet breakfast.

The staff speak some English, better than my Italian!! They aren't fluent but we could understand each other fine.

Oh and the location, absolutely superb! Right next to the duomo, half of the rooms face it, unfortunately mine didn't however my colleagues did, such a spectacle to see at any time. Apparently the staff will endeavour to get you a "room with a view" (excuse horrible pun) if you request it, however as mine was a business stay I wasn't worried.

Hotel is traditional room key access and is up some floors on what appears to be a residential block, initially off putting but is fine once in. 24hr reception so no issue getting in at the wee small hours of the morning.

In terms of staying there I'd say it's great for business use, also those using it as a base to explore Florence could hardly ask for a better central location. The location alone would seem to warrant a premium price however it's remarkably inexpensive, even in peak season.

This review is one of turning lemons to lemoncello! Before leaving for Italy, we made a reservation at the Hotel Bigallo in Florence, Italy. We had stayed there on several occasions and always in the same room with a view of the Duomo and belltower. Upon arriving, we were stunned to see that the entire front of the hotel was covered in scaffolding. I commented on the scaffolding to the desk clerk as we checked in and she indicated that it would not matter and we would still be able to see the Duomo. When we opened the window of the room, we were stunned to be face to face with a workman on the scaffolding chiseling stucco. The room was filled with the smell and grit of plaster dust from the restoration and the sound of the chisel and flying plaster. Returning to the desk, we said that we could not possibly stay in the room. She was very nice and immediately made some phone calls and in a very short time, a gentleman appeared to escort us to their other properties...the Hotel De Lanzi and La Repubblica Apartments. They gave us a choice of a room at the Hotel De Lanzi or an apartment overlooking Piazza Republica. We chose the apartment. It was a large room with cooking facilitites, which we did not use and a nicely tiled bath. We took breakfast each morning in the Hotel DeLanzi dining room. After our initial shock at the Bigallo scaffolding, we were more than pleased with the way the staff addressed the situation and our concerns. They could not have been more accommodating and we will return again and again.
