“Very good hotel!”
Reviewed 28 November 2013

This hotel is in a very good location at the centre of Florence beside the train station!!The rooms were very clean, not to spacious, but have very good decoration and nice breakfast with many options! The only problem that we had was with heating.A little bit cold room and the heat don;t work. For the money we spent was good choice!

Room Tip: Ask for a more spacious room and also check the heating!

We spontaneously decided to go to Florence and booked through "Hoteltonight". Even though we had reserved last minute and arrived after midnight, the hotel was ready to welcome us and we were immediately led to our room. The room was clean, furniture is modern and the bed was very big. Also, the breakfast buffet was very complete and Italian (cornetti...), unfortunately the cappuccino is from a machine and definitely not as tasty as you would hope from an Italian hotel!
We were disappointed of the housekeeping service, the maids knocked on our door several times in the morning, disturbing us. There must have been a lack of communication because the housekeeping staff was not informed of the fact that we were still in the room. It happened 2 times the first day and 3 times the next morning.
Other than that, our stay was lovely, the hotel is very central and the general internal environment creates a "home away from home" (fireplace, books, lots of pictures...).

Room Tip: If you can choose, ask not to be on the side of the station, as the traffic is noisy.

Beware - this hotel runs a scam!! We booked and pre-paid to stay at the "Hotel Club." Upon arrival we were told that we would actually be staying at a separate residence around the corner. We were taken to the "Hotel Diplomat." Obviously this was a sister hotel, however still a completely different hotel to what we had actually booked and PAID for! I booked the "Hotel Cub" based on ratings and reviews from Trip Advisor and Expedia. I would never have booked the "Hotel Diplomat" based on their same reviews. I was not informed at any point that I would be staying in a different hotel to what I had actually booked. Im not sure how they can get away with this??? Although I was unhappy, I didn't complain at this point as I simply did not want to dampen the mood of my holiday. The room at the Hotel Diplomat was an absolute disgrace! For starters the lift was very jolty and actually felt unsafe. The room had a really strong odd musty smell. The room was like an oven - unbearably HOT! When I complained to reception I was told that the air conditioning does not work in the rooms at this time of year. I was told to open the window but turn off all the lights so I didn't get bitten by mosquito's. The only problem with this was, because we were on the first floor, the noise from the street was unbearable. I then asked to be moved to a higher floor to try and escape some of the street noise, only to be told that they were completely booked out so that was not possible. However upon returning to my room I had a look at Expedia and I could actually book a room at this same hotel for this particular night! We endured a completely sleepless night, we had to keep the window open, as it was that stuffy we could hardly breath. The mosquito's still came in even though all the lights were switched off. This would have to be the worst hotel I have personally EVER stayed in. The customer service is non-existent and the facilities poor. I would certainly never recommend this hotel group to anyone.

Perfect for my 3 day break in Florence. Took bus from Pisa hotel 2 minute walk from bus station.
Clean modern, rooms spotless.
Breakfast adequate,coffee, hot chocolate excellent.
Ideal location for all sights.
Perfect for my needs would use again.
Did not feel uncomfortable in this area,as very busy.
Beware the Mosquitos even in November!

A small proportioned hotel, its cosy and clean. Our bathroom was tiny, the lifts are tiny. Breakfast is the usual continental fare. Its right next to the train station - good or bad, depending on how you look at it; we didn't feel uneasy in the area at all and being close to the train station meant coming and going was easy with only 2 nights in Florence. Easy to find and a short walk to all the sights (though there are hotels closer and more in the thick of it). Helpful staff with maps, quickest way to landmarks, restaurant suggestions and bookings.

'm giving it a 3 because it doesn't have a terrace, a pool, a restaurant for lunch/dinner (although there is one in the sister hotel around the corner) nor a bar, gym, or other facilities. Otherwise it is a perfectly functioning adequate, small, tourist hotel.

Hotel Club is in the least attractive area of central Florence, next to the station. The streets are full of rubbish - as you often get around stations - however the hotel itself is very clean and modern. It doesn't have bags of personality that you get with charming B&Bs but it is functional. Bed were comfy and wifi very good.
There was also a good selection at breakfast.
Customer service was lacking - the reception were not that fussed about creating a good experience but we did not have any complaints.
I wouldn't necessarily stay here again as I would choose somewhere with a bit more personality, but it served a good purpose.

Very good location, literally 5 minutes walk from Firenze SM station. Noticed many people with luggage asking for directions to other hotels and glad we chose this one for convenience. Hotel appears to have been refurbished and looks nice. Stayed in basic room which was small but adequate for 3 nights. Room clean with all necessary facilities (shower, air con, flat screen tv, free wifi). Continental breakfast was ok, no fresh fruit. The not so good points: room air con however was really noisy, windows could not fully open, suffered a few mosquito bites on face and arms, wifi slow. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs since the sound proofing was awful (could hear next door shower/toilet/talking etc). Again, the best thing about this hotel is the location, all the important attractions are 5-15 minutes walk away and with such interesting architecture, you end up walking for ages without noticing that half the day has already passed.
