“An unforgettable Rigoletto”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2012

When you have seen, as I have, several "ordinary" performances of Verdi's Rigoletto this performance by Musicainmaschera at Opera Teatro Auditorium deserves an honest praise. What a daring ensemble. Performing an opera usually performed by a huge choir and orchestra by an orchestra consisting of a piano, two violins ,a viola and a cello and the choir formed by two singers was unforgettable, in a positive way. The adaptions for both the orchestra and the choir brought out the essential of the intonation of Verdi's genious opera. When the orchestra was not roaring one could fully consentrate on the melodies and find details you had not earlier recognized. The orchestra played technically in a first-class manner. Andrea Rola as Rigoletto and
Barbara Luccini as Gilda were singing in a talented way , Dario Shikmiri's and Claudio Giovani's choir was in good propotion with the orchestra.
Of course when you listen to Verdi's operas a big orchestra and choir are good. But this performance gave the audience the essential Rigoletto in a most talented way.

“Small, fun venue”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2012

This interesting venue staged the full version of La Traviata, but I see other events are staged as well. A bit confusing, as it's located in bldg with Best Western hotel. Doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house, and opera is usually sung to larger audiences anyhow. Amazingly staged with just five musicians. Well spent evening.

“A performance of Rigoletti to forget”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2012

We went to Rigoletti on May 26 for a birthday celebration while in Florence. The light meal and wine in advance was pleasant in the roof top dining area. However, we left after the first act of the opera performance, it was very poorly done. Cannot comment on other performances, but would certainly not suggest this as a classical music venue to consider. We can say this as we attended 2 performances at St Marks English Church in Florence, both of which were outstanding.
