This small museum is included in the Firenze Card and is a fun change of pace. The precious stones are displayed in a variety of ways - all beautiful. There is a display of tools used in the trade from earlier centuries.

We enjoyed this museum very much. Great way to learn about art using semi precious stones. We had purchased a Pietra Dura picture several years ago and this was a reinforcement of the knowledge of how much work goes into making the mosaic pictures.

This museum has extremely restricted timings and hence makes it difficult to visit. It is off the radar for most tourists, but if mosaic and Pietra Dura interests you, you will love the place

This small museum is a little gem in Florence. Tourists generally do not go there so you usually have the place mostly to yourself. Stunning mosaics abound and upstairs is a collection of tools which is set up like an original workshop. Table tops set with semi precious stones, inlaid "paintings" and even a bust of its founder Cosimo Medici adorn this wonderful venue.

Fabulous small museum with extraordinary works of Pietre Dure, or hard stone. Difficult to express how remarkable these 'pictures' created from pieced precious/semi-precious stone are. Very well worth the 45 minutes or so that it takes to wander through.
