Owner description: This 19th century piazza has undoubtedly the best panoramic view of Florence. The square is decorated with copies of Michelangelo's sculptures, but it's the view people come here to see.

we got here by joining a morning florence city tour. It is indeed a place to visit. Over here, you get a bird's eye view of the "whole" of florence. The city of Florence became like a little world as you look down on it from here. The scenery is panoramic and spectacular. You can take marvelous pictures here. There is also small cafe here where you can have tea and enjoy this view and chill. Also there are souvenir stalls which sell cute affordable souvenirs here if you wish to do a bit of shopping. The toilet here is payable but it is very clean . Definitely recommended for first time visitors to come up here to just enjoy this magnificent view.

this is the best spot to admire the city, specially at sunset and untill it gets dark and the city lights turn on. Very beautiful spot, to be alone and meditate upon the beauty of this city or to share the special moment with someone else. You can actually get here by walk, it took me around 30 mins from Piazza della Segnoria. It worth it!

I'm glad I dragged my boyfriend there, all the stairs climbing was paid off. The view up there is fantastic! You definitely have to wait for the sunset there, it will be one of the most unforgettable views you have ever seen!

it doesn't matter the time of day or time of year - a visit to Piazzale Michelangelo to look over Florence, towards Fiesole or north towards the Apeninne range always makes me smile.
Climbing up the switchbacks from San Niccolo or up the steps near the rose garden gives you glimpses of the city as you rise higher. Even driving, or catching the #12 bus, from Porta Romana up Viale Niccolo Machiavelli teases with short glimpses.
At Christmas, a tall tree covered in lights and Firenze red 'lilies' held prime position in the corner, visible from the streets below.
Getting up early brings great views as the sun hits the buildings. Staying for sunset and the hour that follows can reward you with sights of sunlight under the bridges along the Arno. Even in fog the street lights cast a soft glow. And there is always one of the 'other' David's to see.
Make sure you bring your camera, a charged battery and space on your memory card. It is worth spending a little time to look for magic.
