This hotel is among several located on the north side of the Arno. Convenient for a walk up to Piazzale Michelangelo and lovely view and gardens. About 10 minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio, Uffizzi etc. Also close to Piazza Santa Croce. Staff was extremely helpful and accommodating (keeping our extra luggage for a few days until our return while we hiked in the country). Breakfast is very good and served downstairs in a covered terrace. While there was no real view from the room, (it faced an interior courtyard), it was quiet and we slept well, very comfy bed. With Florence being so packed with tourists, it was a pleasant and quiet retreat, while being centrally located. I found the price a bit steep, but it is such a tourist destination. Expect to pay accordingly.

Room Tip: There are a few tables on the top floor balcony, (available to all), on which you may wish to enjoy...

Spent 3 nights at Hotel River with my wife and two friends. The room was small and could do with a makeover. Our rooms were on the back of the hotel and the view was of a derelict building. Breakfast was fine, but the hotel has no restaurant. However the location is close to the centre and there are good restaurants within a 10 to 20 minute walk. The hotel has valet car parking which works well, taking 10 minutes or so for the car to be delivered to the front door. Staff vey pleasant and helpful. Overall, reasonable value for money, but best for an overnight stay.

We spent 3 nights here in May and were very impressed. It is a bit removed from the center of Florence but that is not a bad thing and we had no issues walking the 20 or so minutes into the center. Even the train station is only about a 25 minute walk. We enjoyed the little outside terrace on the 4th floor overlooking the river that you can enjoy a glass of wine on.
The staff is great and very helpful with either suggestions on where to go or directions. They make you feel that there is nothing they won't do to make your trip better.
Breakfasts were excellent, cappuccinos made to order.
The room was very clean and pretty quiet as it faced the inner courtyard.
Only negative comment would be that I had requested a room on the 3rd floor, facing the courtyard and that had not be noted, so upon check in, we only had the option of a lower or first floor room.

Room Tip: Some rooms have been renovated. If you prefer a more modern looking room, you might want to request...

We recently had a great seven night stay in historic Firenze staying at Hotel River. The hotel is very well placed overlooking the river Arno just 5 to 10 minutes easy walk to the fascinating medieval heart of the city and all the amazing buildings and artworks to be seen. At this time of year the centre is extremely busy with tourism and at the end of a tiring day, it is very nice to return to the tranquility of Hotel River and enjoy a good English pot of tea, available free 24 hours.
All the staff were extremely friendly, very helpful, spoke good English and happy to help anyone trying to speak Italian. Effervescent Esther has a smile for everyone and at breakfast she made it her business to say hello and be friendly to all guests. The breakfast was absolutely excellent with loads of fruit, cold meat selections, toast, rolls, croissants, etc etc.
The decor of the hotel is good, everything very clean and an excellent standard. There is a nice conservatory; a courtyard and a top floor terrace with great views of the Arno and south side of the river. Our room did not have a view but this did not detract at all as it was a nice quiet and comfortable retreat.
The hotel definitely made for a great weeks holiday and we would not hesitate to return there should we decide explore even more of a delightful city.
Thanks to all staff once again.

Room Tip: Request when booking if you want a room with a view but you must be prepared to pay a little more( I...

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights of our Italian city honeymoon. The hotel is very nice with extremely friendly and helpful staff. We had a small but lovely room with a terrace which was great for relaxing in the sunshine.

A short walk to all the major sites and i would definitely recommend this hotel

My husband and i are not picky, and i am not saying so to minimise this lovely place at all, but we found this hotel charming with a hint luxury and sophistication! Sadly, we only stayed there one night since we were passing through Florence for about 48 hours, but if we could have stayed longer, we would be very happy staying here!

The hotel is nicely located in front of the Arno river and near walking distance to major sights including the Duomo. It took us about 10 minutes walk to the famous Vecchio bridge from the front door. The rooms were pretty spacious for European standards which included a big queen bed and nice bathroom with a shower which everything was spotless. The concierge service was excellent and the continental breakfast buffet was very decent! And it is thanks to a very nice young man who worked at the front desk on May 21st that recommended us the best restaurant we went to during our stay in Italy (Natalino)! So thank you again!

I definitely recommend this lovely hotel to anyone staying in FLorence, and if we are meant to come back to this lovely CIty, we would definitely stay here again!

We have just returned from a fabulous holiday in Florence having stayed at The Hotel River. The staff were extremely helpful and on arrival one of the staff gave us a map to highlight many places to visit and to eat. Esther the hotel manager was amazing , so friendly and nothing was too much trouble , it was evident she wanted everything to be as perfect as possible for everyone. Everywhere in the hotel was spotlessly clean and the buffet breakfast had something for everyone there was a very good choice of food and drink. The walk to the center is about 10-15 minutes where there are so many places to eat and drink, shops and of course everything for those wanting the culture. We would certainly love to go back and would definitely choose to stay at The River Hotel again.
