“Nice B&B”
Reviewed 14 April 2014

This is a bed and breakfast / hotel with a nice atmosphere. Clean rooms and good service. The price was good. The location is excellent, very centrally placed next to the Santa Maria Novella train station. The breakfast was not great, but ok. I can recommend staying here.

We stayed here and was a life saver after a horrible experience at hotel bijou. This hotel is near the train station and near all the attractions. The host is such a delight very helpful and courteous. The rooms are very clean and cute. There's also a nice lift so you don't have to worry about stairs. The only down fall is you have to be in by 1 am, which wasn't a problem for us. Would recommend this place.

This is a small family run business with nothing but great service. The rooms were big for Europe nice and clean any very personnel . Central location to train and all florence has to offer which is a lot as beautiful city. Breakfast is included in the price and nothing is to much trouble. Would highly recommend this hotel and would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Room Tip: We had a triple as had a 10 yr old

My husband and I stayed for a week at this hotel in June while he attended a conference at the Palace of Congress, a 1-minute walk away and a 3-minute walk to the train station. Located in an old building, the hotel is on the second floor, easily accessible by stairs or a small, old-fashioned cage elevator. Our nice-sized room was clean with a large amount of storage space and offered a flat-screen TV with English-language stations; a small refrigerator stocked with items for purchase; and free wi-fi that worked well. The continental breakfast, included in the room price, offered rolls, bread, sweet pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, cheese, cereals, hard-boiled eggs, meat (cold cuts) and coffee/tea.

There were some drawbacks, however, to our room. I had requested a quiet room and we were placed away from the street. But our location directly behind reception meant we heard conversations that took place there as well as the telephone ringing. We also heard movements overhead, such as a chair being pulled over the floor very early in the morning. In addition, we shared our room with mosquitoes. The plug-in repellent available in the room didn't deter these pesky critters. We both received many bites on our faces and arms. I purchased some repellent to spread on our skin before going to sleep and that really helped. The pharmacist told me that mosquitoes are a major problem in Florence.

Based on the drawbacks we experienced, I would normally give the hotel an "average" rating. But I must go higher because of the owner/manager, Constantino, who speaks excellent English. This is a man who is truly in the right profession. He obviously enjoys having guests and assisting them in any way possible, from restaurant suggestions to itineraries. He is there to take your key when you leave each day and present to return it to you. His smile is genuine and he is always interested in what his guests have to say. Above all, his enthusiasm for Florence is infectious!

I stayed in Hotel Beatrice last Summer with my father and grandmother for 2 nights and we all had a great stay. This is a family-run hotel situated right around the corner from the train station (3 minutes' walk) and a lot of the famous locations in the city are located a 10-20 minutes' walk from the hotel, so the location is great!
NOTE that when arriving at the hotel, you will see that you have two options of going up (the hotel is situated on a higher floor in the building, I cannot recall exactly which one, but I think it was the second floor): one is to go up the stairs and one is to go up the lift. The lift is an old, tiny lift that wasn't updated for years. It's one of those old lifts that we see in the movies, that you need to open its doors, get in, close its doors and only then push the button and it screeches all the way up... We chose the lift. It was a really cool experience. But maybe you don't like to be caught in tiny, squeaking places...
The man at the reception (the owner, maybe) was super-friendly, always wanted to chat with us, recommended on places around the hotel, on places to visit and arranged early breakfast for us when we were supposed to go on a tour early in the morning. The breakfast, by the way, was OK. It had some options, but was rather poor. There were mainly pasteries.
The rooms looked old-fashioned, but were big and clean. The keys you get really look like keys (not like cards) and you need to return the keys to the reception every time you go out of the hotel. I've looked at the other reviews and I must note that at some moments I did feel that the hotel was a bit creepy (the keys look like they belong to a haunted mansion and the corridors are a bit dim at times...), but it just added to the experience. Oh, and about the owner's wife: we didn't meet her so I don't know what to tell you about her... Wish you luck!
Overall, had a great stay and I believe that if I get back to Florence, I'll stay at this hotel again.

We stayed at Hotel Beatrice for 2 nights on our Italian honeymoon. It is very conveniently located a block away from the train station and a couple of blocks away from the main leather market on the way to all of the main sights of Florence - a very easy walking city! The owner(?) at the front desk was extremely helpful and genuinely friendly - a lovely man to chat with. We enjoyed every one of his recommendations for restaurants, sights to see, and shopping. He always seemed to be available from when we arrived late night back at the hotel to first thing in the morning for breakfast! Breakfast is comparable to other hotels, although I enjoyed my cafe latte here more than other places. The hotel is located a few floors up in the building so be prepared to walk up some stairs or take the older (small) lift. The decor is a bit outdated but the rooms are very clean with plenty of room and everything you need. The mini-bar is also decently priced. We really enjoyed our stay in Florence and were surprised at the good value of this hotel compared to other places we stayed across Italy!
