“Fantastic location and great staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 September 2009

We stayed here for two nights and had a great stay. The location is excellent, a stone's throw from the Duomo, Baptistery and Campanile, and 5 mins walk from the station. The Uffizi, Accademia, and many other sights are within a few blocks walk from the hotel.

The hotel is on the 3rd/4th floors, with a lift from the entrance. The staff speak fluent English and were very welcoming when we arrived and helpful throughout our stay. They contacted me by email prior to our arrival offering to pre-book tickets, and they arranged tickets for the Uffizi and Accademia (definitely recommended to pre-book to skip the enormous queues).

Check-in was a little chaotic as there were a lot of people checking-in and out at the same time with only one receptionist. However, our room was ready early, before midday. The room was small and fairly basic, but clean and with a comfortable king-sized bed. The bathroom was clean, with a good shower (no bath) and some basic toiletries. There is no fridge/minibar. Air conditioning worked well. There was some noise outside from music in an adjacent courtyard going on into the early hours on our first night, but otherwise we weren't disturbed except by church bells at 7am. Breakfast was good quality continental (no hot food) with pastries, ham, fruit, cereals, juice and fresh coffee. Although we didn't make it, there is a 'happy hour' with drinks served between 6-8pm and the first drink is free.

A very pleasant stay, a touch on the expensive side for what it is, and perhaps that's paying for the very convenient location.

We found this hotel to be very conveniently located. The hotel and rooms are adequate and very clean; the bathroom is very nice and everything seemed very new. The staff is wonderful, very helpful and pleasant. They gave us great recommendations for dinner (Ciro and Sons, amazing restaurant). The only downside for us is arriving at the hotel, you are basically unloading your luggage on a busy street and walking across to the hotel entrance. This was only difficult for us because we have small children and a lot to unload. Otherwise, the hotel staff was very efficient in getting the car moved and handled all that for us. Definitely would stay there again!!

Our friends recommended this hotel to us and we are glad they did. The location of the hotel was great; just steps away from the Duomo and maybe a 10 minute walk from the train station. The concierge was warm, friendly and helpful in making reservations for museums, art galleries and restaurants. We met Louise, Laura and Tani; they were all friendly and enjoyable to talk to. Prior to getting to Hotel Perseo, we communicated with the concierge via email and they were very prompt with their responses.

We really enjoyed the deal we got with our stay for a tour to Siena, San Gigmignano and the Chianti region.

The only thing that we didn't get was the ability to use the Internet. I am not sure what was the situation, but we were not able to use it. I guess we shouldn't have been using it to begin with since we were on our honeymoon.

We recommend this hotel to our friends and family and cannot wait to return to Florence and stay at Hotel Perseo.

The staff is friendly, professional
The rooms are clean and bright
The hotel is located in the heart of Florence activities, very easy to get to all attractions.
A great breakfast to start your day.

I was very appreciative of the helpful, friendly staff who put together tours that I loved.

I had picked this hotel from the comments in trip advisor, they were right!
the weather was very hot, so the only thing I missed was access to a swimming pool.

Yes, it is all true. 5 minutes from the train station, less than 5 minutes to the Duomo, located on a main street (3rd floor up the elevator once you go into the entryway), safe area at night (we were two 20-somethings), breakfast included (and yummy), staff helpful and speaks near-perfect English. Our ac was making a strange noise, but the problem was fixed by the time we returned to our room for the evening.

The only down-sides I would say were that the wireless was down, and the price was a little high (I am a grad student). However, this hotel really made our trip to Florence effortless and a real pleasure.

I would definitely stay here again, and if this is in your budget, you will definitely be happy you booked.

Can't get enough of the Location. It's a 5-10 minutes walk from the train station and mere two blocks from the Duomo. It's right smack dab in the middle of everything. Ponte Vecchio and Uffizi is a few minute walk to the south. Galleria dell' Accademia a few minutes walk to the northeast.

There is an elevator that rides up two at a time. There is wi-fi but it has to be used in the lounge/bar area which is fine b/c it's usually pretty quiet down there. The rooms are clean and modern.

A tip with the staff. A little effort in speaking Italian goes a long way with staff courtesy. I always gave a few basic phrases in Italian that I had commited to memory before asking more specifc questions in English and they were as pleasant as could be to deal with. My companions did not do this and they felt the staff were a little short with them. This is probably a general theme anywhere you go.

I visited Florence for a long weekend with my Mum. I'd read the reviews on here and had hoped for a great stay although being in such a central location I had packed my earplugs just in case!! Our room was great - newly refurbished, clean and quiet with everything we needed. The location is excellent - about 7 minutes from the train station and about 30 seconds from the Duomo right in the centre of Florence. However, that is something that is easily replicated. What really made the hotel standout was the consistently excellent levels of service from the hotel staff. Without exception everyone we came into contact with was professional and friendly. From recommendations/reservations of restaurants to directions on how to get the bus to the airport we couldn't fault anyone! We had a great time visiting Florence and look forward to a return visit. We'll definitely book to stay in the hotel again and will be recommending it to many friends and colleagues.
